Looks like this dream may have died, but to be honest I don't care that much who the nominee is.  There isn't a democrat running who isn't significantly better than what we have now.  I like Kamala because she's a woman (and yeah, I feel we deserve a turn) and because she's smart and competent, but I'll take whoever can raise the money and support to win the primary.

In other news.

The nitpicking and drummed up backlash Sherrod Brown got for pretty much nothing likely told him the purity types would never let him win. It's a shame.

Anyway, I saw a clip of Conan on Youtube and he was mentioning this story.

"It just was quiet for a little while," Walter Tendler recounted, "and then he just sits up in bed halfway and looks at me and he goes, 'S***, I'm not going to see the Mueller report, am I?' And that was really the last coherent thing that he said."

Yeah, who can blame these folks?  It must be awful to die when the country you love and fought for is in such obvious peril.

It is.

I'm tired of those purity ponies (tm @marceline) on the left.  They act like we all could afford to wait for the Second Coming.  Well, you know what happens when you keep picking off people whose hands aren't entirely clean?  You end up with Trump.

Nevertheless, if someone from the Purity Police ends up being the nominee (I'm looking at you, Kirsten Gillibrand), I'll just hold my nose and vote for them, because, as @Juliajms says upthread:

People seem to be complaining that Judge Ellis, Manafort's sentencing judge is grandstanding and showing his partisan bias by claiming that Manafort has "lived an otherwise blameless life".

Given the judges remarks, I guess it's no surprise that he sought to give Manafort the lightest sentence possible.

Marceline is a jumble of mixed feelings.

People have been suggesting Sherrod run for years and every time they do I've fought it tooth and nail. More than once I've said, "You'll take my senator when you pry him from my cold, dead hands!" That changed after the midterms. Ohio is just such a lost cause I feel like it doesn't deserve him. That said this was a real Sophie's Choice for me.

I really do think he would be a wonderful president but the journey there would be hell and I didn't want that for him or Connie. His 2012 race was one of the most expensive in history because he was the Kochs' top target. It was a nightmare. That would pretty much be a lap dance compared to 2020 because this time he'd also be attacked Berners because of his ties to Hillary Clinton.

One thing I'm grateful for is that his profile has increased. I've enjoyed seeing people "discover" him. I hope that the party realizes what an asset he is and promotes him more.

Amy Berman Jackson, the judge dealing with loon Roger Stone, will be sentencing Manafort next Wednesday. I read the maximum there is just 10 years. Be that as it may, I hope she makes up for s-h-i-thead T.S. Ellis' bias and gives him the full ten, anyway.

Yeah, I suspected you might have some mixed feelings about this.

Some people say that these presidential races are no more nastier or vitriolic than a hundred years ago but it feels as though the influence of big money and dark money has made the vitriol and nastiness inescapable.  Add to that the use of social media to promote vitriol and it's a pretty inhospitable environment for many people. And the expense of mounting a campaign (as you mentioned) has ensured that the average person who might want to get into public service at a higher tier, won't be able to afford to do so.

It's no wonder that many elected officials often want to stay closer to the grassroots or local political movements where perhaps she/he feels the most positive change can be accomplished.  I'm seeing a lot more politicians veering toward gubernatorial posts because a lot more direct change can be made from that position.

    • It's so jarring seeing the changeover from Sherry Mathis to Louan Gideon.  The vibe, mannerisms, and overall personality of Liza changes instantly. The chemistry Sherry has with both David F and Joe Lambie is gone the second the recast happens.  I wonder how viewers took the news of the recast since you didn't have time in between airings before the change happened. Quinn/Sarah... One overacts (Quinn) and one under acts (Sarah). Wendy of 1985 is a good mix of the 1982 sweet Wendy and the 1983/84 vixenish Wendy.
    • Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
