Apparently Trump shouted “Fight! Fight!” and threw up his fist. What was his intention in doing that?

The Secret Service kept trying to usher him away from the scene to safety and he kept resisting and talking about let him get his shoes. Obviously stunned and not in crisis mode.

I'm waking up to hear the shooter was a Republican. Yikes.

But I share the same sentiment as you all as "something smells rotten in Denmark."

Regardless, I don't think this is about to move the needle or make Trump into some victim. If anything, this is going to push sane undecided voters even more toward Biden b/c they're going to be sick of the violence and simply want normalcy.

A weird choice to the “flight or fight” query. I’m no conspiracy theorist. It just seems like an odd response in a crisis situation. Reminiscent of January 6th 2021.

Someone at the rally reportedly declared him a martyr. Another claimed this would win him the election. His fans are nutty, for sure.

The shooter’s motives did come to mind, if those rally goers’ exhortations played into motive at the risk of speculating, which normally I am loathe to do in such situations. Maybe the information will reveal motives, maybe not.

People cheering on assassination attempts in YouTube comments section and acting like that Sicko is justified in what he did ... Is the level of Ugly that I am not able to stomach anymore. I shall go on a full internet strike and stop reading comments or watch news. Sick, sick, sick people.

Also now... People daring to criticize president Biden for expressing his well wishes and being a Good human being... shame on them. President Biden is a masterclass in grace and honor.

Here's my theory and I admit it's just that, a theory. His entire view of the world is that it's one big reality TV show.

So much of the discourse on dementia has been wrong and intentionally hurtful but Trump has some fairly advanced dementia. He only has a handful of responses to unrehearsed situations. He will always pump his fist or give a thumbs up. Always give the same tough guy squint in photos.

I don’t discuss politics on this forum whatsoever, but I completely disagree with this thinking.

If I was running for the position of president and someone just tried to assassinate me on live television due to a disagreement with my politics, I would have done exactly the same thing.

This was a moment that will go down in the history books in which someone tried to kill a former president, who also happens to be a presidential candidate for the next election, and he miraculously survived. He needed to let the world know that he was okay and that something as big as this attempt would not stop him.

The usage of “fight,” IMO, was also to bring the message home that for whatever reason he is running for office of the president, there are those out there trying to stop him as witnessed yesterday evening. His message was to say he wasn’t stopping and that supporters should continue to fight for him and their reasoning they support him.

Two things can be true. One: Trump believes the entire world is beholden to him and is ultimately just entertainment and a big TV show, and that nobody is any less out for themselves and craven for the spotlight than he is. And two: Trump knows doing what he did on the national stage is a boon to his campaign. So ultimately both Errol and marceline are right on a certain level, IMO.

I do believe Trump is cognitively impaired. But I think this all weaves together into the same things you're both talking about.

President Biden:

My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics and to remember, while we may disagree, we are not enemies. We're neighbors. We're friends, co-workers, citizens, and, most importantly, we are fellow Americans. We must stand together.

Yesterday’s shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania calls on all of us to take a step back, take stock of where we are, how we go forward from here. Thankfully, former President Trump is not seriously injured.  I spoke with him last night.  I’m grateful he’s doing well. And Jill and I keep him and his family in our prayers.

........

I believe politics ought to be an arena for peaceful debate, to pursue justice, to make decisions guided by the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.  We stand for an America not of extremism and fury but of decency and grace.

........

Tonight, I want to speak to what we do know: A former president was shot.  An American citizen killed while simply exercising his freedom to support the candidate of his choosing.

........

You know, the political rhetoric in this country has gotten very heated.  It’s time to cool it down.  And we all have a responsibility to do that.

Woah, what at amazing, inspirational man. The whole world should take this as an EXAMPLE.

    • Max Brady is still in a relationship or marriage with his niece Chelsea Brady.  They live in London.  This was confirmed by Chelsea at Victor's funeral. I think she was pregnant then?  They now have a son named Isaac.
    • This is an email I received from the PM you sent to Toups and me, just two days before Drake died. That's not something one says when they didn't know his medical condition wasn't already public. You may have quickly deleted the PM after I called you out on having the audacity to think it was appropriate to share at all, but an email lives on. You clearly intended to break the news because you have no clue about what is appropriate and what is not. If you want to become a gossip columnist, as I've told you before, create your own site. I'm sick of the drama you manifest here.
    • Feelings after a week's worth of episodes (and excuse me if I get character names wrong but I'm not googling so as not to spoil anything) Kim Hunter (Nora) is excellent. This is Emmy caliber work. I have no idea if she got nominated, but she would have tapes from this week if she did. She has scenes with Eliot and I'm curious if this is going anywhere because soaps rarely if ever put characters together unless they have a storyline planned for them. I hope so because that was a good scene. I'm still confused about Paige's past storyline with the terrorists. There's a spoiler surprise this week. The spoiler surprise was connected to Nora's scenes and it worked well. I hope to see the spoiler surprise with Nora. Are Paige and her bodyguard supposed to be in a romance? Or did she romance her stepbrother? (I think it's her stepbrother as he is Nora's son, and she's Owen's daughter, right?) April/Draper: Can't say I care all that much about the house issue. The mother gave part of the payment, so what?!? Draper is getting on my nerves with his macho nonsense although the posts here leave me to think he has a right to be upset. I like Margo so much so I don't care.  Sharon Gabet had a fun entrance in this week's episodes for me. She comes in and makes out with Eliot. She has a fight with a character named Sara who she then slaps. She comes home to a baby and her mother-in-law. Fantastic scene. I think this is Lois Kibbee based on looks, but I don't know the character's name. Kibbee and Gabet are amazing in this scene. I don't quite get the background (Raven was married before and cheated on Kibbee's son?) and I don't remember the new husband's name. I'm curious where this is going.  I'm enjoying EON. My only quibble is that I don't like the show's logo. Looks very cheap.
    • I feel like the fallout is going to be bad for Lois and I don't want her to leave town.  I wish the show could find a place for her that worked better.
    • The lies.

    • If that is the case then it truly was a waste of time as I have not ever, even once, deleted or removed such a post.  The only thing I have ever done even remotely close to that was if I inadvertently posted in the wrong thread & marked it in the wrong spot with that phrase & then posted the content where it was meant to be.
    • Based on script (and script alone), it feels like they're shifting Lois out of story altogether, unfortunately.
    • Lois should be seen more.  Away from this story lol!  With a sexy love interest!
    • Lois is there to [almost] drop the news of Gio's parentage. lmao. And plus, Rena is iconic and should be seen more!
    • Hmmm...Stefano being Benjy's dad is a whole other thing I suppose. Pocket would be (most likely) a grown man now.  It could be interesting for Phillip if he showed up.  I totally get what you are saying about soaps and adoption.  The minute someone finds their biological parent the poor adoptive parents are entirely forgotten about.
