Members DramatistDreamer
It’s a massively busy Friday for me (or at least it’s going to be soon) but apparently Trump’s taxes have now been released to the public. Cheers.

Members DramatistDreamer
The NYT is implicated in this also by allowing their platform to broadcast this non-existent “red wave”. Members DRW50
She is just wretched to the core...soulless. That phony, preening Paul Ryan made sure he had people go to this article and say she is his biggest disappointment makes me laugh.
Members DramatistDreamer
ICYMI- Meanwhile, Lula’s predecessor refused to participate in the inauguration ceremony and fled to Florida (sound familiar?) to (*checks notes*) the home of an MMA fighter, while his wife remains in Brazil.
Members DramatistDreamer
Since Bolsonaro absconded without doing his duties in demonstrating the continuity of the presidency through a peaceful transition, Aline Sousa, a sanitation worker and leader of a trash collection union was chosen to place the presidential sash on Lula. Lula also walked to the inaugural platform alongside a diverse group of Brazilians, including Aline Sousa, a little boy, an indigenous elder, a disabled man. Really moving scenes.

Members DRW50
Ugh. Nice to see he's part of the "great" tradition of unpleasant eating photos of politicians. He can fit right into Florida life by continuing to get COVID 5 more times.

Members janea4old
Brazil will have first Indigenous woman chief for key post Brazil's President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced the ministers for his incoming government, in Brasilia, Brazil, Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022. RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazil’s President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced Thursday that Sônia Guajajara will head up a new Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, with a mandate to oversee policies ranging from land demarcation to health care. Guajajara was elected to Congress in October. She is widely known as the leader of the main umbrella group for Brazil’s many Indigenous tribes and is a member of the Amazon Guajajara. This year she made Time Magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people. https://apnews.com/article/technology-politics-brazil-government-united-states-802853d7e3f1364abf310971acb658a7 The appointment of Guajajara to such a post marks a 180 degree turn from Brazil’s current government. Outgoing president Jair Bolsonaro, defeated in October, is an opponent of Indigenous rights and land with a record of racist statements. In 1998, when he was still a fringe lawmaker, he spoke in Brazil’s Congress praising the U.S. Cavalry for having “decimated its Indians” and regretted Brazil had not done the same. The lands where Brazil’s Indigenous peoples live constitute one of the world’s most important carbon sinks. The Amazon rainforest acts as a buffer against climate change by absorbing large amounts of carbon dioxide. About 13% of Brazil’s territory is demarcated as Indigenous areas, roughly the size of Colombia. Most of it is in the Amazon and covered by tropical rainforest.
Members DRW50
Later today, the GOP will vote for the House speaker. Kevin McCarthy will probably win, if not right now, then soon enough, but only after completely betraying the red lines he and his sycophants in the party and press insisted would not be betrayed. He has had to give up all power, all authority, and humiliated himself. Remind people of that the next time the NYT and Washington Post churn out puff pieces on how brilliant and beloved he is.
