All the little talking heads tried to push the "Cassidy Hutchinson lied!" scenario. Too bad there still appear to be those besides her that backed it up. And now Peter is getting his ass dragged for it. GOOD.

These fossils don't care about REPORTING news. They want to MAKE news. Even if it kills the country.

Between this and the "eliminate the filibuster now!!! Don't just tell people to vote!!!" type talk that is obviously impossible, Hogg seems to have fully moved into the dead-end "do something" side of Twitter. I would say this is a sad waste of his activism but I don't remember him accomplishing much of anything in activism...

That's true, but at a time when gun control activists have probably had some of their bigger success in recent times, his Twitter basically being an interchangeable "do something!" outlet makes me wonder if he just does not have that type of involvement anymore.

Yep. People don't know other people's lives, and quite frankly, it's none of their business. Hell, I stood on top of Mount Zion and preached the word of the gospel that it's nobody's business. In this case, a 10-year-old girl is stripped away of her innocence and you got these people in Ohio who are saying, "Nope. While you work on your 5th or 6th grade homework, you're carrying this fetus." Despite this poor girl's circumstances.

Ever since Johnson was mayor of London, I always thought he was an oaf. I am surprised he has lasted this long but the Brexiteers were desperate for him to “get Brexit done”, I guess.

In terms of the abortion issue, I think we are at the beginning of a wave of lawsuits that will challenge the ruling by the Supreme Court. And if I were to guess, I think the cavalcade of lawsuits will be a sustained wave.

@DramatistDreamer As a resident of the city where he was mayor, I can confirm that he always was an oaf. More than that: venal, corrupt, completely bereft of ideas or direction -- he just wants to stay in power for power's sake. A disastrous PM at a time when the world desperately needs competency and imagination.

The UK is crumbling under some serious problems, many similar to the US (almost-10% inflation, bottlenecks in jobs, goods and services, the poor getting further squeezed by inflation after over a decade of austerity cuts and hollowed-out life options, legal/policing/health systems at breaking point). Boris has zero policy ideas to solve problems. He just does not care. He and his cabinet of braying idiots (Sunak and Javid at least have two braincells to rub together) are a disaster. He will cling onto power as long as he can, and maybe his successor will be even worse because BJ purged the Tory party of actual brains and promoted ass-kissers who would never overshadow him on the brain-trust front.

    • The AMC hate came from Jamey Giddens/DC and their industry friends, IMO. For whatever reason I always felt they targeted the show, and it was wrong. AMC ratings were decent and even went up under Pratt (Yet, he was fired). The ratings were also good under Broderick and lowered out after her interim.  There was no reason to be upset with the show other than it being slow. They literally played it safe and did the best they could in 2010 and 2011.
    • I have very detailed synopses of all 1976 storylines for the soaps from the Daytime Serial Newsletter. Please let me know if you are interested in a particular show and I will post it in the appropriate thread. As I stated they are very detailed, so I don't want to clutter up threads if posters are not interested.

    • Surely we (and Billy Flynn) are not going to be saddled with a character named Aristotle Dumas? This isn't 1970's Edge of Night.
    • What annoys me a little bit about the "day players" is they sound a bit too "Brooklyn-ish" sometimes.  Obviously, the show was taped in New York City, and the actors are all New York actors, but Monticello is supposed to be located in Illinois or Ohio.  Occasionally, they grab actors and actresses for small roles who have VERY distinct New York accents, which contrasts sharply with the main cast, none of whom have noticeable accents (except for our dashing European gigolo, Eliot Dorn, of course).  The heavy Brooklyn accent works fine if the character is a bookie, or the owner of a pawn shop, or a guy who's selling stolen guns on the street corner.  But when it's a steadily recurring character -- such as the first Mrs. Goodman, who worked for Miles and Nicole -- it's pretty jarring to me sometimes.  And you'll see it often -- such as an "under-five" character who witnesses a car accident, or a character who witnesses a shooting, or the occasional desk clerk, or waiter.

    • That's always been my thought. I can't imagine that the show would play up the unseen AD so far in advance without them casting a *star*. After today's episode, I wonder if he'll somehow be connected with Diane. It was strange that Diane mentioned her very distant family today. I can't recall Diane ever talking about her backstory. Maybe he's her much younger brother?  It's also possible he's connected to Diane during her time in LA. Sally's already said she crossed paths with him. OC, I think Dumas is Mariah's mistake.... As a side note, it was good to see some mixing it up - Adam with Clare/Kyle and Sharon with Tessa.
