Oh I know it's the NYT, I just thought this was kind of low even for them. Using hate crimes and photos of swastikas this way. I guess I need to remember there is no floor with that paper.

In other news, this lady is a real treasure.

And with his history of grabbing women no less!  He's a shameless charlatan and he gets away with it to a degree that just does not make sense.  If Biden is the nominee you just know Trump is going to call Him Creepy Uncle Joe at every turn.

Speaking of that old troll in the White House, by now many people might know of the damage Fred and his son Donald did to the housing market with their exploitative policies in Queens, NY and their racist policies that brought about lawsuits from the feds, but their demolition of property in Brooklyn's Coney Island and their racist policies that affected primarily African American tenants in the area, is less well-known, I think.

I remember going to concerts in Steeplechase Park in the late 90s and by that time, it was literally only a grassy open field.  I had no idea that a pavilion and all of that other stuff used to be there.

Here's an odd factoid that I've committed to memory for no particular reason.  When Queen Elizabeth II came for a visit during Bush Jr's presidency the administration could not get any Hollywood stars to attend.  Since WWII, the Queen has had an understanding that Presidents in their first four years went to the Palace for a state dinner and then, if they get a second term, the Queen comes to DC for state dinner.  Unfortunately, the only media types at her State Dinner that year were The View's Elizabeth Hasselbeck (in a cape recycled from her wedding) and a still-in-the-closet Robyn Roberts, (she was doing a behind the scenes story for ABC).

By contrast, Obama's last state dinner had Georgio Armani, Beyonce, and Jerry Seinfeld - and it was for an Italian President who was voted out of office two months later.  The Obama's were not only the first administration to invite gay couples to state dinners, but they also had a gay couple at the head table of every state dinner, including for countries with a history of poor civil rights for gay citizens.  The Republican Speaker of the House was invited to every Obama dinner and rejected every invitation.

The latest knucklehead has only had one state dinner in DC; once again not star-studded.  Every other foreign leader that has visited didn't get a formal dinner and they had to stay at his hotel.  This may be because the first family has to pay for each state dinner.  He is going for his state dinner in England in June before the G20 summit this year.

Nancy Reagan had a state dinner every six weeks until Ronnie was shot.  They were the last couple to entertain bipartisan crowds.

    • I dont understand the motivation behind it. Eva is her link to Ted and the Duprees and without her, she has nothing. It would have served better for Eva to be all fed up with her and leave the house on her own and Leslie try to make amends bc she needs her for this comeup she's been talking about. Eva can repair her relationship with Ted and maybe build something with the Duprees and cut her out
    • So good today Dante is overreacting blaming gio Hopefully Danny will come clean
    • Not mad at Leslie Locking Eva out, I think it's important for the audience to see her on her own for a while. Curious how scrappy and savvy she becomes on her own. Yeah, I am with you there. It feels a bit hollow; maybe if she was talking to Martin and Kat I would feel better about it. There must be more to this story. Daphnee and Ambyr owned this episode. Tugging my heart in every scene. Nicole process hurt and anger much differently than Dani though.
    • I also really enjoyed Eva's scenes with Kat today. They have an interesting chemistry. I thought it really did feel a bit like sisters at conflict. Especially with the way that Eva was trying to convince Kat to forgive Ted and them both coming to the conclusion that the man they thought was their father was different wasn't who they really thought he was initially. And the way that Eva broke down when Kat said that she was dead to her was emotional stuff. I really do think that in spite of their conflict/bickering Eva really would have loved to have gained a sister, along with a brother, father, etc... Also, I thought it was interesting how Eva kept saying that she loves Ted and Nicole. That and Leslie mentioning that Kat/Eva are almost twins really does make me wonder if Kat may really be her twin and Nicole's as well. I would gladly welcome that outcome, even if it takes a while for it to come out. At this point Leslie doesn't deserve Eva as a daughter as far as I'm concerned. And I would forward to a storyline where we found out that she's Nicole's second baby girl, and all the complex and ultimately happy feelings that would bring Nicole. Eva/Kat could still have a rivalry, especially if Nicole ended up doing some more bonding with Eva. And then we could get the rest of the family's reaction to that as well.

What you NOT gonna do to me!
    • Bravo to every single person responsible for today's episode. From the writer on down to Kraft services. Yall I'm getting emotional but I wish my granny was here to have seen this soap since she was the one to introduce me to this medium.

    • Everything is fraught with confusion. Why is Leslie pleading with the Duprees to accept Eva? She's not biological family so what is this? She's the product of an affair with their in-law so Leslie wants them to accept her? I'm getting GOOD TIMES vibes of Leslie and Eva minus the physical abuse.
    • Big fan of today's writing. In particular, I like EJ complexity, crying over Johnny and conspiring at the same is tough to pull off in the same episode, but it goes very far in explaining EJ's motives. I don't hate the idea of Cat and EJ, and I especially appreciate everyone trying to warn her, but she is sticking to the plan. Boy oh boy, when Brandon Beemer wears a shirt that matches his eyes, I get lost in the screen!
