If you need entertainment, head over to Twitter and read #secondcivilwarletters

With thanks to wacko Alex Jones (yes, THAT Alex Jones!) who tweeted that Dems/Liberals were going to start a second Civil War today, July 4th. The response was epic. And funny as all hell.

Read the letters and laugh. Better than crying!

This breaks my heart. Only 58% of people disapprove of 45's immigration policy.  The part of me that sees the dark humor in these things is reminded of The Wire.  The scene where Jimmy is upset about the witness being killed and tells Bunk he expects all of Baltimore to rise as one against the injustice

All that's needed are some celebrity voice-overs reading the letters while sad violin music plays in the background.  (Are you catching this, Jimmy Kimmel/Celebrity Mean Tweets people?)

I'm always surprised at how many people are willing to enable Alex Jones, as he has a huge following underneath the jokey exterior many seem to be amused by. When I saw how eagerly people were playing along with him about this topic I was reminded again how many can't live without the extreme crackpot types, as it makes them feel morally superior.

The immigration polling doesn't surprise me - it's a very complicated, touchy subject, and a lot of people who would otherwise be called liberal are decidedly not on this issue.

Please let the people of OK keep him firmly away from the high office he so desperately wanted there.

The part that got me was when the organization she was with basically pulled a Mariah Carey ("I don't know her.") I hope that someone is going to help her as I imagine she will be high on the deportation list.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.

Article (not that you'd want to read it, just proof that it unfortunately exists) https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/style/trump-style-100-days.html non-paywall copy: https://archive.is/ICe7U
    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
    • No idea but she won Emmys & she was the Casting Director at the same time for both ATWT & GL. She hired Lisa Brown with no job for her. Then Marland made Brown his muse so he created both Iva & Nola for her. But, I think we know that Jill does what Jill wants.
    • I did notice a decline in the quality of the performers being cast once Betty R vacated/retired from her position. We would have been spared from the nightmares of some of the castings that dominated the show in the last decade or so of the soap. JFP was an example of someone, no matter the gender, who had no business being in the position they were in.
    • If Betty Rea was the casting director, why was so much of GL during JFP's reign cast by her? Walker, Deas, Crampton, Lando, etc. JFP takes credit for Dusay as well. What is the point of having a casting director, if you don't let her do her job? What happened when Rea left?
    • So much on here slips my mind but this is the first I remember hearing of Peterson's passing. Very sad. Nell was a thankless role, clearly set up for a cheating storyline with Frank, but Peterson did her best.  Betty Rea Rea was the casting director for the soap opera “Guiding Light” from 1970 to 1996 and simultaneously the casting director for “As the World Turns” from 1979 to 1983.
    • Sorry, just one more post on the Thorntons. How did Ruth and Edna feel about each other prior to Tad dating Dotty?
    • I can't remember exactly but I think it may be 1995 as Jake was trying to hide from a loan shark.
