Y&R: Tonya Lee Wiliams Returns, and shocking recast to come?!

From the Suds Report.

• At the Toronto International Film Festival opening’s eTalk Festival Party, I ran into my next-door neighbour — literally, she lives down the street from me — Tonya Lee Williams! After we caught up, the two-time Daytime Emmy-nominated actress revealed she’s coming back to Y&R as Olivia! “I’m back at the end of September. I have no idea what my storyline is or who’ll I’ll be involved with. I won’t sign a long-term contract because of my film career and Reel World Festival responsibilites, but I’d pull a Tracey Bregman and continue in good faith. I love Y&R and I’m ready to come back. [Head writer] Maria Arena Bell knows what she's doing.” Um, I second that! With Y&R on fire these days, Williams is game for anything even though she’s given some suggestions, “even though head writers hate when an actor gives story ideas, but she was open to it!” Could a Nate recast be so far off? “It'd be a smart idea,” she hints. My suggestion? I’d kill for Noah and Nate to be the Nuke, but that will never happen!

• Which former Y&R superstar is being recast as we speak! If this inside intel is true, no one will be happy about this news. And the best soap on air, Y&R could actually jump the shark by replacing someone irreplaceable! Don’t do it, Y&R! All I’m saying is — this rumour better not be true or there will be hell to pay.

Good to see Tonya back, even if it's for a little while. Olivia is such a classy character that has possibilities, too bad Jack Smith screwed her over royally a few years back.

I'm guessing the rumour about the controversial recast refers to Drucilla. That rumour gets passed around every 3 months, can they stop it already.

And I'm wondering who in the world is getting all these vets to return? It sure as hell isn't Josh Griffith, which gives me more hope that his ass is fired and replaced by the end of the month.

A return by Tonya Lee Williams is just awesome. She's one helluva great actress and I'm very pleased to see her return. I'd love for her to stay long term and although she's unwilling to sign a contract...I hope MAB takes her up on the Tracey Bregman style offer.

I'm so done with the Victoria Rowell obsession. If she returns great, if she doesn't, great.

I'm interested in what do you specifically mean by scr*wing her character? I mean, there are several possibilities.

I love Olivia and Tonya Lee Williams, so it's great to have her back. I don't think bringing Nate back is necessary. They already have Devon, who they don't write for. Why bring in another young male that probably won't get anything interesting to do?

As for the recast, I'm sure their insinuating Drucilla. I don't know if recasting the role is smart. I don't think fans would ever warm up to a Dru recast.

I like this and I also hope they do bring Nate back. They need a few more young people.. they have killed the younger set by making lily and colleen such idiots.

This is what I have been saying... bring back Liv and Nate! So yay!! Love this! Devon can leave for all I care...

I hope they're not recasting Drucilla, but maybe Victoria Rowell... nah, I won't go there... I really don't care. I loved Rowell's wacky Drucilla... but oh well..

I rather Dru stay gone if they can't bring back VR.

Now if they recast one of the actress I don't like. I don't think anybody would be mad but a few.

I always liked Tonya Lee Williams and I'm glad to hear she'll be back on Y&R. I thought it was horrible how she was unceremoniously written off shortly after Cassie's death, considering she'd been on the show for 15 years at that point.
