This was one of the few episodes where I heavily sympathized with Ali and the Spencers, instead of seeing them as grating filler. And i even understood Rachel's position. Even Jai wasn't completely vile.

So glad Georgia is finally gone. She left on a good note. I hope we won't see her anytime soon.

I'd forgotten how much I missed the Barton brothers together - they're all very different so when they are together you get a complete puzzle. Ross had some classic lines throughout the big reveal.

James is disgusting, blaming Emma for his adultery. I hate him.

Robert not texting Aaron to break the date was poorly written idiot plotting, but at least it believably helped set up Aaron's rage. Miller did a good job there. It felt like a real scene, as did the reactions in the pub, even if the injuries ended up being the usual fantasy soapland nonevent where James will be dancing a jig by the weekend.

Here's Alan Convy (Donny) in another role in 2013 (starts around 2 minutes in). I miss Bernice in the pub...

Paula Tilbrook (Betty) is retiring, and will return for a few episodes in May for Betty's exit story.

I kept seeing fans insist they kill Betty to end her story, and I have no idea why. There's nothing wrong with a character leaving town alive. It means they can live on always.

Did you enjoy yesterday's episodes? Ross had a lot of good one-liners in the second one.

Betty is my favourite character on the show. No matter how long her absences have been lately, whenever she turned up she owned the screen. I also don't see what killing her will serve. If they do kill her, I hope she urges Victoria to find Seth's body in the woods so they can be buried side by side.

However, it is nice to see that Tilbrook is leaving on her own terms. Good for her.

    • Not trying to be a contrarian, but I don't think the show needs a rival family.  Rival families have been over-done on soaps since the 1980s. And it might make the show too predictable.  I'd prefer they beef-up the have-not group with perhaps a couple of workers from the Country Club and one or two Dupree servants, joining the existing group of have-nots.  That would give the audience more opportunity to see Fairmont Crest life from the "backstairs."  To me this would be a far more interesting perspective than another wealthy family to rival the Duprees.
    • I wonder if that's why Valerie quit. I think some of the magazines at the time implied issues with Valerie and the producer, although I may be wrong. Painting Diana as going bad would have made more sense to me near the end of her run.
    • Carter & Thomasina were also stuck with a baby almost immediately and didn't get much to do after they finished high school. Carter's father was killed off and Marley drifted out of their friend group because of Jake. They left town after Carter's father died (of tomb dust!) and before Quinn died (unreasonably murdered by the Sin Stalker for dating Zack Edwards).
    • She most definitely would. And I would enjoy watching it! Yes, I agree, that was a very touching moment in her interview. It helped me feel much more connected to her as a performer. I also got the feeling from her, Live with DD, that she wanted to go deeper in conversation.
    • It really does feel like JG is getting off on torturing Shick fans.
    • That part I am not sure about, maybe Depboy might know?  The thing to remember about the show at that time was, it was so plot-driven and desperate that characters and their motivations changed virtually overnight.  There was a period of time where Diana Taylor suddenly became a bad guy and was in cahoots with Cameron Faulkner (toward the end of Valerie Starret's portrayal), which I HATED.
    • I'm going by clips so it's possible that the fan who did the editing made it look a different way than it was.
    • I’m sure Trisha-Mann Grant would love to play those layers too.  It stuck me when she said in an interview that she could identify with the pain Leslie carried because she was a single mother of two struggling with no help raising her kids at one point. You can tell playing Leslie means a lot to her, as devious as the character is (which I’m sure is fun to play for any actor)!
