There's some speculation that she was a Lucy Allan hire. So far he hasn't made a lot of changes to the show oncamera, just a few firings, most of his focus has been behind the scenes. One article said Sheree is probably moving to Australia next year. If that's true then she may only be in for a short stint.

I always feel like Elliot is an interesting character who has almost never had a good story. I still have no idea why they did that crap where he dumped Sarah and then was with Hannah briefly. The show got so musical chairs with pairings over the past few years it made watching the individual episodes seem pointless.

I don't even know what Elliot is doing now.

I guess they might have kept on with that pairing if the girl who played Laila hadn't quit.

We must still be getting a lot of firings over the next year, and it's just waiting until contracts expire. Otherwise I don't believe Ravi, Anita, India, Archie, and others I'm forgetting would have been spared. I think it's time for Carmel to go, sadly, as she was one of my favorites 2-3 years ago.

These are what I would call "difficult" characters played by good to very good actors:

Dominic

Ste

Nancy

Jacqui

Mercedes

Elliot

I hope Marquess manages to write story for them, although of that group I would only really miss Jacqui and Ste.

These are people I would shape the show around, with new blood and a few returns (Clare? OB?) also helping to improve things:

Steph

Malachy

Myra

Darren

Cindy

Yeah I think he will probably bring in a lot of new characters, if the budget allows. I know he did on his other shows. Hopefully it will revive the show. There's quite a bit of unused talent there. I don't think the show deserved it's "good looks bad acting" reputation, at least not in 2006, 2007, 2008. There was quite a bit of good acting. And some of those people are still around, the problem is that Frankie, Nancy, Jack, among other characters played by some of the show's strongest actors, have been painted into a corner.

Still, aside from Zak and maybe Newt and Dave, I'm happy with these firings, and I'm sure there will be more soon, hopefully of the worst actors.

I'll miss Dave, Zak and Newt and Lauren who finally won me over. I'm especially devastated about Zak. He was so cute. I wonder if this means Zak's sister Hayley is next? I also wonder what will happen to the McQueen's. I don't want ANY of them touched.

Sad about Kris too, but he's been announced to leave for a year.

With those cuts, I'm only upset about Zak and Newt. I don't like that the article mentioned Cindy's contract. She better not be cut when her contract expires. I'll miss Jake too, though I admittedly haven't watched any of his return.

Hallelujah to the exit of Spencer. Never liked him from day one. And the Valentine family being history is great news.

    • Kim Zimmer could have had a nice career as a supporting actress in Hollywood, but that does not appear to be what she wanted. That's fine, but in the eighties, she was not going to have many options as a leading actress. The eighties were brutal for a performer like her.  Her one big film role lasted a minute or two. Even while she was on GL, she should have been doing episodic television. Was her agent that incompetent or was she just bad at auditioning? Her episode of "Designing Women" was quite popular and was discussed at the time for its subject matter, but she never followed up on it. It's bizarre to me.
    • Billy just showed up for Vanessa's memorial (Sept 9, '96), which is so nice!  My first time seeing him like this outside of random clips from the past. He's out of jail for 24 hours, so not long. It's good to see him with the family.
    • Definitely was more recent than not; when the set originally returned, the change hadn't happened.
    • It was nice seeing Victorias house and I see it’s been remodelled. I’m sure this happened awhile ago but since I tuned out from the show for so long I am only noticing it now. Looks beautiful though!  Also, Billy and Sally gross me out so much. I don’t know what it is I hate so much about them. They give me the ick. Definitely a mismatch. I don’t buy that these people would be attracted to eachother in real life much less have a relationship..

    • Also, isn’t there supposed to be a storyline with Mariah and Tessa? Mariah cheating or something (keeping some kind of secret) and they were only on screen 2 and 3 times this month. Like what? How am I supposed to care when I barely see them?
    • Definitely wouldn't trust Dinah right now haha.  But that's great to know Billy comes back soon!  I'm excited for that. If he's at the boardinghouse, then I guess he does get closer to Nola perhaps, and then he'll be around Peter/Bridget and J, who is currently in his orbit along with Michelle and Dahlia, and Marcus is at the boardinghouse, so maybe they go the teenage story route most of this time until Billy gets back.
    • Sounds like me, but I prefer to be referred to as Contessa. We all know I can go a long time not paying attention to certain things.  And, if I might add, hey there dude, you effed up pretty good this time and I think this was your last chance. So don't let the door hit you in your behind as you go BYE MOMMY!
    • That did cross my mind at first, but I'd be more inclined to believe it if this didn't involve Trump. I'm not at all sure he is capable of being that sneaky. Of course, there's always a possibility I guess that his advisors are doing it without telling him, but that seems awfully risky. Trump is such a loose cannon you can never predict what he's going to do or say.
    • Whoa. She should have fought like hell to get that. Was it the greatest show ever? No, but it had a fantastic cast and was practically guaranteed to last multiple seasons because of its star power. Could have certainly led to bigger and better things. If it had flopped she could have always gone back to soaps. Judith Light broke through on a sitcom where she was basically second banana to Tony Danza. That grew into a very busy and distinguished career. The woman is still regularly booked to this day.
