Yup, I dont think Y&R will be seeing the 4's anymore. How sad it that?? I am surprised by AMC rise in the ratings as well. GL needs to be cancelled period and ATWT is headed the same path as GL unless Goutman and his lap dog are fired.

To clarify, when I said the writing was bad, I meant how the episodes were structured, the forgettable dialogue and mediocre subplots.

Chris!!

No wonder those episodes SUCKED - they were written by Elizabeth Page!

B&B isn't doing itself any favors with this painfully dull Nick/Katie romance being the only storyline featured at the moment. Bring back the trashiness of Rick and Taylor with nuStephanie Brooke gasping in horror.

Yeah, Nick and Katie's romance is quite blah. The show was so exciting a couple weeks ago with the tawdy Nick, Taylor, Rick, Brooke custody fight and Pam figuring out that something was up between Donna and Marcus. BTW, NuStephanie Brooke is a great name for Brooke. Current Stephanie is boringly nice. It would be great if she turned on Brooke when she is haranguing Rick and Taylor.

Just noticed AMC is up two weeks in a row......meaning it will go down next week. I'm just saying....no soap has gone up three weeks in a row this year. :D Let's see if it continues next week. AMC is either going to fall or stay the same. I say it will drop.

Sylph! She really has no excuse now that she can afford her $200 haircuts again. WTF is going on?!

She was ATWT's worst scriptwriter. Worst. So I was happy to see her leave. Only to see her resurface again...

Hmmm...and well I will spoil it...the Meg/Paul/Cole/Sofie/Cole story continues past July 22....oh dear gawd are we in trouble. <_< It will probably last the whole damn summer.

As for Martha...I think thats part of it but really the stories are the shits at ATWT right now. Carly and Holden....please dont make me laugh...What idot came up with that story????????

The only thing that I find interesting is the fight between the Hughes and Stewarts ....everything else should just be axed!!

I wonder what other brilliant ideas Goutman has coming out of his [!@#$%^&*]!!

YAY! AMC/OLTL went up! :)

ATWT/GL deserves the last 2 spots. Both SUCK! P&G soaps are in ALOT of trouble.

Heres to hoping AMC/OLTL goes up next week.

AMC with Tad/Dixie saying goodbye. :(

and OLTL with Tina returning! :)

Actually Days squeezed behind ATWT. So the last two soaps are Days and GL. But ATWT 1.9 is nothing to brag about.

OLTL might go up but I doubt AMC will. I have seen it and it has been boring.

That's good that they went up, but um ... question, wouldn't it even better if that '7' went up to an '8'? Shares make a difference, right? That's what really shows that new viewers are tuning in, right?

<pops an Advil cuz I'll need it for the answer, I'm sure>

It's times like these where I miss Celia in a crate (I'm kidding...I'm kidding).

I've been watching ATWT thanks to the really nice person who posts them on Youtube and I don't enjoy a lot of what's happening. Luke & Noah lost their appeal to me months ago (mainly because of some of their fans but that's another story). Whatever it was between them that "had" me is gone. I couldn't give a flying feck if Noah died and Luke had sex with the first guy who he saw. Anything would be better than what they're giving now.

How anyone finds Meg/Paul/ and ANYONE involved them them interesting is amazing to me. They lost their appeal long ago too.

This Sofie/Cole/Paul/Meg things is a poor play on SO many other stories that were done better. But whatever, that's the writing I guess.

The only bright spot for me (surprisingly) is something I was so adamantly against....Casey & Emily. Anytime I can see Tom & Margo is a good day.

Holden/Carly/Jack/Lily would be interesting if it wasn't so contrived and stupid.

    • I assume they did at some point during the finale...
    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
