I wonder if Paul Rauch as producer of SB also caused a lot of the problems during the Dobsons' return. He made a point to destroy Augusta's character and fire Louise Sorel (wasn't it because they had had an affair at some point?) and Augusta kept having those flirtations/dream sequences with her sister's rapist. Rauch and Roscoe Born butted heads so Born was gone, and Bizeau soon followed. A real shame as I thought the Flame/Michael pairing was great. Runyeon also disappeared soon after.

She was de-aged quite a bit by that water! I wonder what the age difference was between Janis Page and Nicholas Coster. I did enjoy her in the role though. As much as I wasn't a fan of Pam Long's last year of writing, she did use the Lockridges, including Minx, more than previous regimes.

Bizeau as Flame was amazing....she had a real "it" factor about her.

Per imdb and other internet sources (I know, grain of salt): Janis Paige was born September 16, 1922 and Nic Coster was born December 3, 1933. Dame Judith Anderson was born February 10, 1897 (and passed January 3, 1992). I think it would have made far more sense to have Janis Paige play Minx's long-lost daughter, making Cassie Minx's granddaughter instead. Then again, when is a soap opera - especially SB - supposed to make sense?

The internet search says he left in summer 1991 and Rauch replaced him. Don't know how accurate that is. I just remember reading that Born and Rauch had feuded and Sorel was fired because of Rauch. It wouldn't surprise me knowing what I've read about him, but my memory could be faulty. I didn't always care for Conboy's SB, but Rauch ruined SB for me. Pamela Long helped kill it.

She definitely had it, and I wish that behind the scenes turmoil hadn't caused her departure. The Michael/Flame (which used to be on youtube) was so good and the character could have done so much more.

I think it was a combination of things including the Dash storyline. Sorel has a really good interview at welovesoaps that goes into this. Interestingly, she never mentions Rauch by name when talking about the producer who produced the show when she left.

Actually Cassie outlasted Stephen by a full year. He figured out her role in various mysterious incidents, threatened to expose her, agreed to meet her for breakfast to hear her side of things, and was never seen again. Then we heard Cassie on the phone asking someone, "So you're sure they'll never find him?"

Cassie moved on a near-romance with Mason under the Dobsons, then got involved with Jack Wagner's Warren, then went full psycho when Pam Long took over and wrote her out in 1992.

Roscoe Born left SB in May 1991. Conboy left in June and was replaced by Rauch.

Thanks for the clarification. I remember reading that Born had done a video complaining about the EP (who I thought was Rauch). Does anyone remember this? If I recall, this led to Bizeau's firing because of her involvement with him. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
    • French fan summary Rusty took over Simon's job at Lewis Trucking after Simon transferred to Lewis Oil's North Carolina office to live near Jessie and Calla. I doubt they would bother following up a story for offscreen characters eg marriage and a baby.
    • I suspected that the performance with the reveal was the reason why the Ted actor got the axe and it looks like I was right. He wasn't really good at conveying what needed to be conveyed in those scenes. Claybon is at least slowly improving (but I agree that he still needs to work on his line delivery), but I do wonder what will happen when his big reveal is coming up.
    • I've already asked this before, recently, but can anyone who watched those years more closely tell me if anything said about Jessie and Simon at the end of their profiles is accurate (about them marrying, naming a baby after Brandon/Lujack, etc.)?
