They certainly are. But looking back, I think Eddie Cibrian would be my favorite.

From what I remember of Ashley Hamilton, he was not good and switching to Eddie Cibrian was a great move. :D

Given how quickly the recast happened, I wonder if Cibrian had already auditioned and was runner-up for the tole originally.

Wouldn't surprise me - Ashley Hamilton had the name recognition of being George Hamilton's son, who of course had played on previous Spelling productions like Dynasty. It might have been that Spelling pushed him as a favour for Hamilton plus the name recognition, but when it turned out he sort of stunk they went with Ciberian. He was recast after a month or so.

Looks Like Alan Locher is planning a 25th anniversary virtual reunion with some of the cast of Sunset Beach.

Come celebrate the 25th Anniversary since the debut of NBC's Sunset Beach live in The Locher Room on Thursday, February 17th at 3 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. PST. Cast members Christina Chambers (Maria Torres), Priscilla Garita (Gabi Martinez Torres), Jason George (Michael Bourne), Lisa Guerrero (Francesca Vargas), Kam Heskin (Caitlin Richards Deschanel), Dominique Jennings (Virginia Harrison) and Randy Spelling (Sean Richards) will all be here to share memories of their time spent working on this daytime drama. Sunset Beach made its television debut on NBC on January 6, 1997. The show followed the loves and lives of the people living in the Orange County coastal area named Sunset Beach, on the coast of California. Sunset Beach won two Daytime Emmy Awards and was nominated another eleven times during its three-year run. The last episode aired on December 31, 1999. This was the first daytime soap opera produced by legendary television producer Aaron Spelling. Join us as we go back in time to visit Sunset Beach on Thursday, February 17th.

Originally, Vanessa Dorman was to portray the character of 'Tiffany Thorne' in Sunset Beach (1997) but she got the role of Kayla Richards instead (the character name Kayla was changed to Caitlin before filming began).
