Didn't Kathryn Foster direct those? It's funny, though Y&R USED to dominate the directing award at the Emmy's (specifically when Heather Hill lead the direction team), they were never very lucky with getting nominated for the Director's Guild Awards....

I believe Kathy has one DGA for Y&R, out of only TWO nominations. :o

Guiding Light Episode #15221 - July 25, 2007

Coop is writing a story about memory, and Ava has brought it to Spaulding Publishing. Alan talks to a mad scientist about making a pill that does exactly what Coop’s story suggests: making memories disappear. Lizzie overhears and asks Cassie if she’d be interested in making the painful memories stop. Coop discovers Alan didn’t want to publish his book; he just wanted to steal his ideas. Remy is the security guard at the mysterious location, until he discovers it’s a lab funded by Alan. Cassie and Lizzie try to break through the door, as Alan and Beth enter the elevator with Coop right behind them. Cassie accidentally breaks open the bottle with the memory gas in it, as Cyrus and Ava walk in, they begin to cough and sink to the ground. As the gas comes through the vent, Lizzie and Remy collapse against each other, and Alan, Beth and Coop slump to the floor. Cyrus is pleased to wake up with the women in his arms, but nobody can remember who they are. Lizzie, who has woken up in Remy’s arms, can’t remember a thing, and believe they must be a couple that was just about to have sex. Alan, Beth and Coop also try to piece it all together and decide that Alan is Beth’s father, and Coop is the father of Beth’s baby. Feisty Ava and Cassie began to fight over a very happy Cyrus. Cassie and Cyrus are about to make love, when Ava barges in with a photo of Josh – proving that Cassie’s already engaged. As the ladies begin to brawl, Lizzie and Remy begin to have sex. The mad scientist tells Alan the effect of the gas will wear off soon, as oblivious Coop and Beth are holding hands, Cassie and Ava are fighting, and Remy and Lizzie are making love. Suddenly everyone’s memory is restored. Cassie and Ava quit fighting over Cyrus. Coop and Beth come to, and are horribly embarrassed. In the middle of wild kisses, Remy and Lizzie instantly pull apart. Remy and Lizzie agree never to mention this again, although it’s clear Lizzie didn’t mind it so much. Cassie returns home, wraps her arms around Josh tightly and says she never wants to forget ever again. Coop decides not to let Alan publish his book, after all.

Ohhhhhhhh - that AMC episode was GOOD. That episode made me cry! The main reason was the scene where Kendall and Spike are wheeled past each other, each on their way to surgery. Talk about amazing drama - and raw emotion! Between the directing of that scene and Kendall's scream - I was in TEARS.

AMC totally deserves a nomination. It was very well directed.

And THAT'S why, as much as it doesn't deserve it, I guarantee you there are Emmys in AMC's future. That week was heart-stopping, and brilliantly written, acted and directed. Whatever happened before or after, those are the two episodes AMC needed to definitely score at least a nomination, if not a win.

    • Anything, but this non-story.  Who cares if Stephanie publishes her Danielle Steel novel or not?  Maybe Joy will be back sooner or later with the baby. Last Chance Sale at Nordstrom rack.  I bet JJ has one too. Yeah.  For some reason I thought they shuttered the whole Publishing department after that.
    • Quote from the May 14, 2025 AP article on BTG: https://apnews.com/article/beyond-gates-renewal-d7369f7a60a0a992483294acb950ef6d Charlene Polite Corley, Nielsen’s vice president of diverse insights and partnerships, says 52% of the total audience is Black. “It’s bringing folks along for this really unique story being told in a lot of ways for the first time. And so, yes, the Black audience is leading here, but there’s a whole lot of other kinds of folks who are tuning in, too,” she said.
    • I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't put words in my mouth. I never said he shouldn't have been upset about it. He knew before the wedding and went through with it anyway. She offered to split up with him. He decided to stay. Then he treated her dirt, even after she had just lost her baby. If he couldn't deal with it, he should have left her. (Or, SHE should have thrown him out. The story made no sense.)
    • I wish the triangle with Philip was still going on with them. Maybe Days got a good deal

    • The only way I saw successful playlists for DAYS uploaded to youtube was maybe 10 years ago  .... The uploader had code names for each playlist by obscure nicknames for each character, without mentioning DAYS or the actual character names in the description.  You'd have to be an expert on the show's history to know the obscure nicknames for each character - something mentioned in the show's dialogue once years before. Importantly, commenters were asked to not mention the name of the show or the characters or the actors in their comments, or their comments would be deleted, which meant that the channel owners had to check it daily to delete such comments. AND the videos were all unlisted, so you'd know about it only from word-of-mouth, but were asked not to post about it anywhere. This was many years ago and I enjoyed watching those as they were up for several months. However some unaffiliated fools would create their own playlists on their own personal youtubes, linking to the unlisted videos and labeling their personal playlists with real show name and character names... so of course Sony caught it eventually and it was all lost.

    • I bet they update the opening credits to switch out MJ and Keith
    • I honestly felt like Gabi/Alex had a deeper conversation on their short date than Stephanie and Alex have had in their entire relationship.   Didn't Alex try to reboot Titan Publishing with Theresa, and it flopped?   So Sophia and Rachel have the same birthday?  Lol.  It was strange Tate got sick at the party and I have no clue what Sophia's about.  I really don't think she's scheming, but I do think she'll ending wanting to keep the baby. The Kevin stuff is a bit silly.  He needed Phillip to tell him to just make one dose and bring the rest back?  He doesn't have time to do that before the Dr. comes back to the lab?  Kevin's right outside lol. Nice Kayla/Marlena scenes.  I really hope they don't drag finding John out much longer. She said closing in.  Deidre was sobbing so hard I had to check the closed captioning
    • Literally the same exact jacket from the same designer, Steve in black and ShawnD in brown. I posted a bunch of May 14 and May 15 episode photos on page 2 of the May spoiler thread, including the matching jackets and the designer.
    • Some people will never learn not to mess with Sony/Cordy lol Someone uploaded Days 1984-85 on YouTube with the full name and air date and they wonder why their channel will be banned and the videos lol As much as I love seeing it. We should stop uploading them directly on to dailymotion or Youtube. Such a waste of time
