OK, I'm wondering how far Janice Ferri Esser's role in Y&R's long-term stories stretches. Is her role strictly editing dialogue after Beth Milstein, or does she too help with the layout?

Y&R's embrace of its history these past few weeks goes deeper than the dialogue, there's a good amount of historically rich situations that seem to work way their way into some of the breakdowns.

A lot of her "fingerprints" seem to be all over Y&R at the moment. She might not have written the best scripts at B&B, but Y&R is definitely HER show.

I assume now that she's credited everyday, Janice is much more involved with the show/stories.

Accoding to someone I know who knows, Esser's involvement is strictly with scripts and (limited) editing. Her imprint is felt more of late because she's editing scenes where a lot of Y&R history comes into play. She's not doing long term, though she may make the occasional suggestion. And she's definitely not laying out shows.

Janice wasn't credited under Beth today, so I guess she only edited the funeral episodes. But yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence that once Janice came back, there's all these historical references, and most of them are in her scripts.

^I think she's going on a self-imposed exhile from the industry again. Prior to the year or so she came to DAYS under Ed Scott, she was doing nothing. I think she's back to that.

Though, it is kind of strange that Mike Denney came back, and she didn't follow. Though, I heard that Maria personally called Mike and asked him to come back, I don't know if she did the same with Kathryn.

I don't know. Nothing's really stood out, good or bad, about Cydney. But to be fair, there hasn't been any great pieces of dialogue ever since Dena officially took over. There hasn't been anything that the SWs could sink their teeth into. Off the top of my head, the last great piece of dialogue was with John/Marlena in the hospital, right after they found him alive. It was on January 16 and the script was written by Judith Donato.

I thought that with both Tomlin and Whitesell at DAYS, we would be getting some campy goodness by now, but no. The show is extremely boring, the storylines make me roll my eyes, and the new characters (well, Melanie) are poorly developed, uninteresting, and shoved down our throats.

It must show the type of power Dena really has at DAYS if Tomlin and Whitesell haven't been able camp it up as of yet.

    • @soapfan770 Thanks for the Sheri Anderson interview. So she admits to being influenced by Wall Street, but did she really think that 25 years later (going by real time) the audience wouldn't notice the dust off of The Sound of Music?

    • Thanks @soapfan770 . Sheri seems to have a much different take on Emma's husband than I remember the show having.
    • Lucky said he’s gonna travel this summer with Aidan. It was a quick line. Willow looks dumber by the day somehow.
    • Well, I do love a good soap himbo who can wear some pants...and very much blue jeans.

But yeah, I can see it. I saw it more with Hayley though.
    • Ewww....I love MKA, but GL wasted her returns. I do think she sleeps with Ross, or gets darn close.   So...against my better judgment, I slid into '86 to find Vanessa confessing to Henry about being pregnant...and it's NOT William Roerick, DAMN IT. It's some damn temp Henry. But then it gets weirder because I'm listening in German, and it's the same voice fooling me.
    • I hope the writers understand how pathetic and stupid Willow looks in order to continue this madness with Drew. Willow has become a laughingstock. Lucky didn't say goodbye to Aidan? Pathetic!!! Maybe then she can buy clothes that fit her. The blouse she had on today was three sizes too big.
    • I really enjoyed the first half of season 9. It was dark but Emma, Angela, Lance and Richard were front and center.  Pilar and Frank were finally interesting.  Charley, Michael and Genele came in and caused a lot of drama.  It was even sexier. I also liked the new into theme music. Then the second half of the season went to hell.
    • Something that I love about Dani is that despite her issues with Bill, she's always encouraged her daughters to have a relationship with him. I also believe that she does have a great amount of love for him which is why she is so hurt that he's sick. I've loved them including her in his recovery. It feels real and their chemistry is just insane so any chance for more of it is welcomed. That would be the perfect karma. Kat needs to learn boundaries and not be so impulsive, but I still feel like the Duprees are going to clear Leslie. How? I don't know, but that's what I think is going to happen. I feel like she'll get some kind of blackmail over them which will cause them to clear the slate. Of course the show never goes where you expect so I'm sure they'll do something different but I'm definitely curious how she will manage this.
