Kerber out!

To the Trumpkin, no less!  Angie's far from a favorite of mine but I would've rather those quality #1 points go to a player I actually like.

Oh well (shrug).

Yes, Mischa has just come into his own. I really think, the Zverev brothers are encouraging each other and pushing each other to improve and are now starting to see the benefits. Mischa saw Sascha achieve and it pushed him to try to do the same. I've been watching both make strides over the year. People didn't give Mischa much notice because some (*coughs* John McEnroe) thought he was too old but Mischa has a nice looking game.

Anyway, this opens up the Men's draw which has rarely happened over the last 6-7 years, with some top guys going out of the competition, mixed in with a few legends pushing through. It provides some excitement.

I was dubious about Australia speeding up its court surface but now, I'm starting to believe that they actually did it!

Misha is barely 29. That's not old. I was so overjoyed that he beat Murray.

The announcers keep saying how the courts are the fastest of the three majors minus the French.

I was hoping Kei would have won even though Roger is good for the game. Kei blew it....what's new!

I'm not a Fed fan by any means, but I just don't see who stops him from achieving No. 18 in this field. Perhaps an in-form Nadal, who has always troubled Fed, but Rafa will be gassed from his grueling matches. Hope I'm wrong, though. I hate the slavish cult of Federer.

Stan the Man could beat him in the semis. He does have his number. Kei should have won last night/early this morning. I don't think Roger will win number 18.

When was the last time that the No 1 seed in both men's and woman's and the No 2 in either the men's or women's' draw in a grand slam event didn't make the quarter finals?

Probably Wimblegeddon- that year that a whole lot of players crashed out in the first week, a few years ago. Nothing else comes to mind.

It's not old but if you're stuck in a 1984 mentality, like McEnroe, you were practically chased into retirement by then. Maybe this will be the year people finally stop taking McEnroe's words as gospel.

I'm doubtful about Stan. He's beaten Fed three times but only on clay.

Serena had better up her game. She just barely eked out that first set against Strycova. She sometimes can look lazy starting out in matches. Let's see her try that against Konta if she makes it to the next round.

There were jokes going around yesterday that her fiance Alexis had better take her dog Chip with him and sleep on the couch for the rest of the tournament.

I've got Serena followed by Muga and then Vee to win it all on the women's side!

Kim Clijsters and Andy Roddick ...Hall of Fame 2017 inductees.  Andy....really?? Won only 1 major??  TC is already pimping him and saying he deserves it....

The NYTimes is also pimping Roddick. I figured he would get in. Certainly, if Michael Chang can, Roddick deserves it. I agree there should be a higher threshold of excellence. Clijsters deserves it for competing so well in one of the most competitive eras in the WTA.

It's funny: Roddick, like Andy Murray, seems like a genuinely good, progressive guy by all accounts. But he was such a jackass on court that I can't help but despise him.

OOoooooooo Stan vs Jo Tsonga going at it.......haha....love it!

Stan: What you looking at?

Jo: What are you looking at?

Bwhahaha....LOL
