@Soapsuds I guess now that the USTA development program no longer cuts him a check, now Patrick is speaking freely.

I thought the Novak cheating rumors were all just talk until I saw the photos. It was possible that he was just giving her a ride home but...

Someone teased that Novak's head is the same width as his neck. Kind of mean but I caught myself really scrutinizing his features after that.  In the back of my mind I had this crazy theory that he started to act out when he found out that Ana was getting married. I still think he carried a torch for her while she only saw him as a "brother".

Ever heard of a player named Jennifer Brady? She was so close to closing out a match to some Russian and played two poor points to lose the 2nd set. She had quite the meltdown in response. I admit, I'm intrigued. What is it with American tennis players named Jennifer having meltdowns?

I think you're probably right, John and Jack will probably play a long 2nd set, only to end up going to a 3rd.

Now Johnson smashed his racquet.

@DramatistDreamer And they just went 3......LOL

Patrick got paid for doing nothing. He is another boob of a player who has no business coaching others or broadcasting matches.

Now Ana is too good for him....LOL.  I am sure Ana first hand knows what a jerk of a brother he can be....LOL....thus no interested in a romantic deal with him. I am sure her more than anyone knows his faults and wouldn't come close to dating him...LOL.  I saw Ana's husband and the guy is hot!  Joker is nowhere near in his league in the looks department. I've always said that Novak looks like a chi pet with that hair and head of his....LOL.

Never heard of Brady.....will have to check her game out.

Brady actually had 3 MPs to win in straight sets. No wonder she was smashing her racquet. Those must've been some serious nerves!

I don't think Ana ever gave Djoker a second thought, they grew up together and when they played the Hopman Cup together years ago, he seemed enchanted in the doubles and she just looked like she was having fun with a buddy.

Oooh, argh...Francoise Abanda vs. Taylor Townsend. I like them both!  If it goes to a third set, I kind of give the edge to Frankie, although she had some 'yips' with her serve last season.

ETA. Taylor just broke Frankie, so it looks as if Frankie's service is still a bit suspect (which is going to be a disadvantage with Taylor's good court positioning). It's to Taytay's advantage to consolidate the break and try to get this set in the bag quickly, if she can. I have a feeling with this Australian heat, it's better to win in straight sets.

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.  These episodes aren't consecutive, but if you ever have time, they are worth a watch. They are bits and pieces from January and April of 1979 - April in and out of prison, her past calling to her via her psychic powers (and the suicide of Miles' wife Denise, who had murder framing in mind). April 1979 has the end of Winter Austen (such a fantastic soap name).  I don't want to drop a ton of links but you can find playlists on Youtube.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
