Why did the jumbo-tron immediately pan to Cilic's girlfriend after he was presented with the Champion's check for $3 million?laugh.png I know she was probably gleeful at his winning the title but that gleeful expression could be interpreted as quite something else. All that was missing was the 'Ka-ching' cash register sound effects!tongue.png

And I present that to all the misogynists who squawk at equal prize money. Sometimes entertainment is not about punching a time clock. The Gentleman's Championship at Wimbledon was far more entertaining tha the Ladies Championship but that's the beauty of equal prize money--it is often a trade off. I just wish someone would slam the door on this argument where the sexists are concerned.

Anywho,

I don't know about ESPN, they can be really petty. I don't subscribe to cable so I watch on their WATCH ESPN site because my ISP participates in ESPN3 but I am often frustrated by the piss poor quality of their stream and the blackouts of their matches. I watched most of the U.S. Open on usopen.org. I saw the semifinals and finals on CBSsports.com and the streaming was far superior.

I am kind of lamenting the idea that tennis will only be on paid networks. No longer can people from all walks of life tune in to CBS, NBC, ABC or even PBS to watch. I guess Tennis has given up trying to appeal to the masses and has accepted its niche designation.

I knew the men's final would tank....and Serena would be doing much better.

ESPN does a lousy job of covering the tennis matches and I agree the ESPN3 coverage is awful...the picture is so bad...I got better picture quality from us open.org.....But this is only for the US Open....ESPN needs to hire Mary Carillo back.....I just cant with some of the broadcasters...

ESPN and ESPN 2 will have matches on...I dont know how all matches will be covered....they havent been able to do that before...and with only 2 channels.....even with my direct tv I only get 6 matches to pick from plus two extra on ESPN 3 which suck cause of the picture quality.

I thought USOpen.org streamed really well and preferred their announcing to ESPN and CBS.

ESPN has at least 5 different television (non-online) channels: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, and ESPN Classic (which I have) and (a Spanish language one that I don't.) So they may have enough to options for next year. We'll see...

    • yes. today Monday's episode started with words displayed "part 1" and ended with "to be continued"
    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.
