February 23, 200718 yr Member DAYS is watchable again, so I commend Hogan for that. But I am not surprised its ratings aren’t climbing up. For me they show is lacking that sense of urgency and excitement; and alot of the stories are "been there, done that" But isn't it sooooooooooooooo much better than James E. Reilly at his "best"? For some of you who may not have heard, colleges are now being measured. Good for Nielsen. I haven't seen Y&R with six million viewers in quite a long time.
February 23, 200718 yr Member GH is a show to watch right now. No doubt about that. But we have yet to see if it´s another rating stunt, the same like Reilly´s SK storyline, or if people stay tuned even after the action ends. That said, Hogan possibly couldn´t choose worse time to put all DAYS stories into an establishing phase, because it seems almost every other soaps did their maximum for the sweeps. It will now take a time till those angry and bored DAYS fans who decided to check other soaps (and obviously GH gained a lot on them) will return back. I'm not saying that GH won't fall, but based on experience before this sweeps period I think you will see GH maybe drop some but I don't think they will drop alot. Unlike past sweeps where there was no buildup to sweeps. This time GH began building up stories and all even to some degree during November sweeps. In mid December they stabilized their ratings and in January began to rise. That is the reason you see them soaring during this sweeps. This is one time in my opinion that people who say that GH produces good stuff for 3 months of the year and the rest of the year are crap - may soon not be able to say that. Because for November the show was spectacular but December and January were very good for me. And even many of the vets were on for quite a few appearances - some not big stuff when they were on but they were there. And so far the spoilers for the next 2 weeks are not too disturbing as far as balance goes.
February 23, 200718 yr Member This is what DAYS gets for ignoring Sweeps. It's one thing to try a few stunts and fail but there's no excuse for not even trying. I would of liked to see something a little more exicting. But Sheffer is making it character driven NOT lets blow something up, start something of fire or kill some people stunt. Some of these shows are up but will be back down next month when people have the same complaints as they did before.
February 23, 200718 yr Member Wow, when was the last time ATWT got a 3.0 for an episode? All soaps did pretty good either going up or staying the same.
February 23, 200718 yr Member Wow to AMC and GH ratings. AMC almost hit 4 million viewers for the Valentine's Day episode. Maybe this will tell TPTB something. I am so happy to see soaps having a good sweeps overall. With all that gloom and doom talk in January this is just what the genre needed.

February 23, 200718 yr Member Rugrat, you have Tuesday's wrong. ATWT should be higher. Edited February 23, 200718 yr by Soapsuds
February 23, 200718 yr Member 2.5 for DAYS: not good enough! Sheffer isn't doing any better than JER! I fear DAYS is permanently stuck in the 2.4-2.6 range. Y&R: despite the trashing LML gets on this board, I think Y&R is easily the best of the lot currently. B&B: Glad to see they got a 3.4 for the 5000th episode on Friday, one of the best episodes in a while.
February 23, 200718 yr Member With the news that Passions has been cancelled and that NBC is not likely to pick up the show past 2009 it might be difficult for viewers to stay invested in DAYS ... *raises hand*
February 24, 200718 yr Member Thank you Rugrat. We get a true sense of how the middle of the pack is playing musical chairs throughout the week.
February 24, 200718 yr Member I noticed that too. GL has been so good lately. They deserve this rise. The acting is top notch. The stories are great. Many worried about them (including me) losing Jammy, but they have rebounded so well and created a great story of family drama that includes almost the whole cast in one story. Right now it is one of the best stories on daytime IMO. It is definitely the best constructed. If only they had the budget to make it work even better. And were shown in every affiliate. There is no telling what the ratings would be if they were. ITA!!
February 24, 200718 yr Member ATWTMonday 2.5 Tuesday 3.0 Wednesday 2.6 Thursday 2.4 Friday 2.6 OMG! That 3.0 is EXCELLENT!!!!
February 24, 200718 yr Member Hogan is writing suspense and excitement. Look at Steve. My gosh how much more suspenseful and exciting can you be than a man who is brain controlled by a tarot card and goes into a spasm doing all sorts of wild things and what is it the DiMera's have in mind for him? LMAO! Brilliant.
