I am telling you he killed them both.

Howard K. Stern Interviewed by Cops

Posted Feb 12th 2007 12:30PM by TMZ Staff

TMZ has learned Bahamian authorities met with Howard K. Stern on Monday morning. Police sources say two subjects are on the table -- Stern's allegation of a break-in at the house in which he's staying, and the investigation into Daniel Smith's death.

Stern alleged that the owner of the house -- G. Ben Thompson -- broke into the premises and changed the locks after Anna Nicole died. We're told Thompson's position is that it's his home and Stern has no right to be there. Police wanted to speak with Stern about the allegation.

But law enforcement sources also tell TMZ that the cops want to reinterview Stern about the death of Anna Nicole's son last September. This comes after TMZ obtained a photo of Anna Nicole's refrigerator -- which held a large container of methadone.

Daniel died after ingesting methadone and several other drugs. We've learned at least one witness will testify at the coroner's inquest into Daniel's death that Stern supplied Daniel with methadone and then flushed the remaining stash down a toilet after Daniel died.

If he's Dannielynn's father and he knows it, then it could be motive. But still, I just think that's odd, even for him. Odd and greedy are one thing...but being a double murderer is something else completely.

Right now on the news they are showing pictures of her clothed, but up close and personal in bed with the Minister of Immigration in the Bahamas. His name is Shayne Gibson, and her he granted her permanent residency request to live there in the British territory.

This is some crazy, crazy stuff.

There aren't very many men left she hasn't had an affair with apparently. :P

Fake tears, fake tears, fake tears!

He had to strain for a while minute to get those tears to the surface. Oh God, what a fake.

Just got to see this and hear the audio along with it.

Wow....that would be creepy. That poor baby. That would mean that Daniel was her father and half-brother.

Soooo not believeable.

Isn't it a known fact that incestuously-produced babies have physical/internal defects?

Danielynn looks quit healthy.

Just some Anna basher wanting to hate on Anna for being close with her son. <_<

There's a possibility Anna Nicole oculd have molested or sexually abused. This is just my discernmnet but on CNN, Anna's friend said that Anna had a disdain for her mother over a personal situation involving Anna's mom and her husband. That's where my mind went and it makes sense that she'd hate her mom if she did nohing to stop any abuse. Or didn't believe her.

I cannot believe what I saw on ET. That Howard K. Stern, within hours of the death of Anna Nicole, was giving interviews, followed by cameras, having photos taken of him and Dannielynn, is just reprehensible. He must have been on the phone within minutes of her death setting this up. And I'm sure he was paid millions for this "exclusive". There's something seriously wrong with that man and they need to get that baby away from him immediately!!!!

Well I totally disagree. I think it was great for him to do this, people out there care about whats going on and I am glad that he is with the baby, he is the only recognizable face to her and who knows it MAY be his baby!!

Why is everyone all over this man, he has done nothing....sheesh innocent until proven guilty!!!!

This just in: High ratings give media reason to follow Anna Nicole saga

There was a moment of honesty at the height of the latest blizzard of silly coverage, when CNN's Jack Cafferty was handing the baton over to Wolf Blitzer.

"Is Anna Nicole Smith still dead, Wolf?" he asked in a callback to Chevy Chase's famous Francisco Franco bit in the first season of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" more than three decades ago. Straight-faced Blitzer gave a simple "yes" and promised an update.

"I can't wait for that," came Cafferty's retort on Thursday's "Situation Room."

Days later, the ridiculous story still is being updated. The "mystery" propelling this tale onto the network morning shows on Monday is the paternity of Smith's 5-month-old daughter.

But there's no mystery behind the over-coverage.

Ratings maven Marc Berman at mediaweek.com dug into the Nielsen Media Research numbers to find that Thursday's "Inside Edition" reached a season high. Ratings also were up for "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" coverage of the death of the stripper turned centerfold turned "reality" TV star.

The obvious market for this stuff was served throughout the weekend on cable and the networks. ABC and NBC subbed episodes of its magazine shows Friday and Saturday with more coverage of a woman who leaves no body of creative work in her wake.

Despite her attempts to mimic a previous generation's blond obsession, Smith was no Marilyn Monroe, who was a memorable performer in addition to being a sad figure. Smith's résumé includes a few caricature parts in a few forgettable films. Her 2002 E! Entertainment show was a pathetic glimpse into a garish life.

Yet millions will continue following Smith's seedy saga, giving TV news outlets enough reason for even more coverage.

Cafferty's crack is rare proof that the folks selling us the story get the joke.

Stern scoop: 'Blood Money'

Rival charges $1M paid for exclusive

Pat O'Brien, who has been covering the Anna Nicole Smith story as if he were on the trail of Osama Bin Laden, was in usual form yesterday. "Raw, emotional and newsmaking," O'Brien said in an overwrought tease for last night's exclusive "Insider" and "Entertainment Tonight" interview with Smith's lawyer, Howard K. Stern.

"As the news networks were scrambling to get the interview, we were inside," added Mark Steines.

What O'Brien left out in his tease was the phrase "expensive" because, as Bruce Springsteen sang in "Thunder Road," "the ride ain't free."

"It's kind of a blood-money story," "Access Hollywood's" Tony Potts said on MSNBC, alleging that rival "Entertainment Tonight" and the New York Post teamed up to pay more than $1 million for the rights to Stern's story.

"There are others being paid as well," Potts said. "I want to tell the viewers [that] everything they see in pictures, exclusive photos and exclusive video - those people in those videos are being paid."

"Absolutely not true," said a spokeswoman for "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider." "These types of accusations are typically made by news organizations that don't have exclusives on major stories."

A spokesman for the Post said the paper did "not pay a single penny. We just got a great scoop."

That the coverage of Smith's life and death has reached the point where shows are now bickering over who's paying for what seems appropriate.

Her life story had a tinge of sleaze, and now that she's dead, the story's become even sleazier. Think about it: Smith's body is on ice in a Florida morgue and Stern is worrying about doing interviews.

How nice.

"This isn't the kind of behavior you normally see," said "Access Hollywood" executive producer Rob Silverstein. "Something else is driving this, and that thing is cash."

But that's the way this twisted tale is going, continuing to feed a media - including newspapers - that finds this the biggest news in the world.

It's not. Not by any measure. Trouble is, none of the other news going on right now has a dead centerfold floozy at its heart.

That's where the money comes in. And this time around it's exposing some of the ugly side of journalism. Rather than buying "interviews," shows get around the "We don't pay for interviews" mandate by paying to license images and videos, or in some cases, by transporting interview subjects to New York for a sit-down.

Yesterday, there was chatter that ABC's "Good Morning America" paid Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, to appear on the show, and that the network had paid to get her to the Bahamas. A spokeswoman denied that the show had done either.

As for paying for images?

"Like the Daily News, or any other news media outlet, we compensate rights holders for their photography or video," said the spokeswoman. And in a case where subjects would generously be described as "bottom feeders," there's a frenzy of people claiming to know something and outlets putting them on.

Early yesterday, Howard Stern's producer, Gary Dell'Abate, joked on-air that while watching the coverage of Smith's death, he was waiting for her mailman to chime in on the story.

Right now, the mailman seems to be the only one without a piece of this ugly, overblown story.

But that could change quickly, for a price.

HKS does come off as being a sleaze, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Who knows though? Nothing about this story has made much sense to me.

Has anyone now heard that the boyguard says he might be the father?? (I'm sure it's been brought up somewhere in the thread). There were photos of the two of them making out on LJ. This is getting out-of-control.

The EX-bodyguard. The one that was with her when she died is not the one claiming to be the daddy of Dannielynn.

Oh! And by the way yall....here's a random fact: The bodyguard that was with her..is married to the private nurse that was with her in her final hours, FYI. :P
