I think porno has better writing than JER's capable of these days. Hopefully the man will never work again. The damage he did to DAYS can still be felt despite Hogan improving the show immensely, and we know how Passions played out...

Ummm...excuse me. Do you WATCH MyNetworkTV?! Because WICKED WICKED GAMES and WATCH OVER ME are better than more than HALF the daytime soaps on the air today and that ain't no joke! I'd take a thousand of their ill-conceived telenovelas over just about anything the big three are trying to pass off as "soaps" today.

The crappy ratings are SO not reflecting their quality of work.

And Reilly wouldn't be able to write a telenovela to save his life. He has to be trained on when a story begins, has a middle and comes to a conclusion. He STILL hasn't learned that after being in the business for so long. But I digress.

I've been (or at least I was) following the history of B& since about 1998. I can diss B&B all I want w/o pledging allegiance to the crap that Bradley Bell calls entertainment. I'm most definately not a die-hard B&B fan, I can still criticize. 2006 was B&B's worst year to date, I think 2007 will reach record lows in quality. GH is far from perfect (I never professed that it was) but I'll take GH over B&B anytime, anywhere, w/o hesitation or regret! If all else fails on GH, they have their stellar to fall back on. What does B&B have when all else fails? That's right: all B&B has is Susan Flannery (and they have gimmicks, campyness & cringe-worthy couples). It's foolish to put all your eggs in 1 basket. But then again, this is Bradley Bell we're talking about here. Mr. Foolish. THE BEDS IN L.A. MUST ALWAYS BE KEPT WARM!

In case you haven't noticed, they are letting go of their stellar greatness. It's all Sonny, all the time. And if you consider that greatness, then I'm sorry, but I have to wonder why the heck you're not on those fandom ABC boards.

GH will let its stellar greatness rot before they decide to put it front and center(Francis, Geary, Elliot, Charleson, Damon, Ingle, Christopher).

ABC has their eggs in one basket with GH. It's called "Sonny and his b!tch3s."

Anyway, it's a headache restating all of this to you because you will never get it. You know how bad GH is. I don't have to tell you.

Yes, Passions has been awful since Vendetta, but every soap has their bad spots. And, yes, Days was awful in 2005. But does he not get credit for the great work he did from 1993-1998/2003-2004 on DAYS? Or the great work he did from 1999-2004 on Passions? There was a time when I considered him to be one of the greatest writers in daytime.

I think that if he were to go to another soap, he should go to OLTL. Many oltl fans are probably shrieking in fear at that idea, but I think that he is a MUCH better writer than Dena Higley. Plus, he likes to write for psychotic characters (*cough*mymargaret*cough*).

I give JER full credit for 1993-1997 and 2003-early-2004, as well as 1999-2002 on Passions. But, now he has lost his touch. He's not the same writer anymore. He doesn't take his stories seriously now. I see where your coming from because with Days you loved Jan, and yes she was one of the few bright spots of JER's writing, but now he just writes like he wants to get the soap he's writing for cancelled.

I respect your opinion but to tell you the truth, at this point I really can't give a damn about JER's past TV merits. The fact of the matter is he fucked up. Big time. He is not a new kid on the block with this stuff. He has been writing for years not to mention the fact that he's been closely connected to both NBC soaps for a long while. I think the fan reaction (minus possibly the death threats) are well warranted. He has a responsibility to watchers and has chosen time and time again to disrespect them and do whatever the hell suits him.

And furthermore, I wouldn't wish a single soap opera on him. His writing skills as of present are just perfect for the unemployment line IMO.

Obviously, I'd love for him to go back to Days, but I'm not sure if that will happen just yet.

Or -- we can hope--NEVER! If JER went back to Days, then I would hope that NBC would spare us the misery and cancel Days NOW. . . and I'm a 20+ year Days fan. The kind of trash that JER wrote for Days is inexcusable on all fronts (and that includes BOTH his stints as headwriter. Both were absurd, mysoginistic, and campy as hell. His writing always sucked. It was designed for nothing but shock value and mockery and always but always left soaps worse off after the "shocks" had worn off than when he started.) May he never get his hacky hands on any half decent soap again! (Although I don't really worry that JER will be back at Days since Corday finally found something vaguely resembling a spine and fired JERs sorry self).

(Though I have to say that JER isn't the only hack in soaps. Frons and Megan McTavish are pretty darn inexcusably incompetent themselves).

No, I really feel assured that JER's Days at DOOL are long over, and he will never return. He's ruined for all intents and purposes. I know it's over for him in general, for now.

Here's my overall prediction for 2010:

Y&R, B&B and ATWT will be the only soaps left on CBS. Y&R will still be king, and ATWT will be in trouble.

NBC will have no soaps at all on their line up, and the fourth hour of today will be a marginal hit, but enough for that jackass Zucker to brag about. It's just as well, Cause out of the big three, NBC has supported soaps the least and allowed a single man (JER) to ruin and destroy it's daytime line-up without even blinking.

ABC will have AMC, Days, and GH in it's lineup. It will buy out Days, but sign a lengthy contract with Corday to keep him as EP. Hogan may follow, or may not. Since the show is owned by Sony, and not NBC, the show will still have historic context and flashbacks, but it will seem like a romantic version of GH.

JER will be sitting at home, eating moon pies, and crying himself to sleep.

I like that prediction daysfanatic.

I only hope that if Days moves it doesn't change too much.

I will make it my personal mission, as many others have, to make sure JER never gets his hands on Days, let alone another soap, again.
