I don't think NBC is stupid enough to think it'll ever beat CSI: Miami, a solid #2 is GREAT! Plus comparing the numbers to Medium, this is (so far) a bonefide hit for NBC. If they moved it up an hour it would be up against 24 and Two and A Half Men, in other words it would 100% be cancelled.

Just finished watching it...

-I loved the shoutout to Network, that's one of my favorite films EVER!

-Amanda Peet is great in this role. I'd never thought she's be able to pull out of romantic comedy hell.

-I was pleasantly surprised by Matthew Perry. All traces of Chandler Bada-Bing are gone.

First. KR. Thats a hot banner. Christie looks SMOKING :)

Next. I really think that even if the ratings were less than perfect for Studio 60, NBC would move it until it found its niche. This show is too brilliant. The network knows Aaron Sorkin's track record. He won the network countless Emmys. They will make sure this sticks around. If they don't, I lose all hope.

With a per-episode pricetag of over $3 million dollars I do not expect this show to last.

I liked it. I thought it was well produced and well acted and well executed. The writing was snappy and it had everything (including the same graphics) as the West Wing only it was about a TV show and not the Oval Office. Here lies it critical problem - these characters are not running the world they are running, well, something completely insignificant by comparison. "Are you here to save us"? asked a production assistant to Matthew Perry's character. To this I replied from my couch, "save you? you work for a f*ucking TV show ! What could you possibly need to be saved from?" It is not as if they are refugees in Lebanon looking for aslyum and their lives are in danger; it is not as if their houses were washed away in a hurricane and the aid funding has not made it to them after a year of recurring nightmares; and it is certainly not as if the characters are facing death from militants in Kandahar on a daily basis require a logical strategy to ensure their safe return home! Gimme a break. Perhaps that is why 11% of the audience tuned out in the last half.

These are really awesome, idealistic, powerful performances about people who do not deserve our attention or caring. What works for the high-calibre world of high-politics does not apply to the low-brow world of late-night TV; no matter what say these people are not *that* important.

Don't get me wrong, I love TV and I enjoy watching a "behind the scenes" type drama but where the show excels (production and writing) it will also fail.

I hope it is given the chance to grow legs and balance itself. But after the pilot I am worried that it will get pulled far too soon for that.

    • I actually thought it was a dig at Haley too when I heard it lol.
    • I would be fascinated to see the GL episode counts from that time, if they existed. Six years seems like a long time, but Reva was front burner 24/7. I don't see how she could've done episodic tv. The only breaks she really got were her maternity leaves. And it's not like even the late '90's when there were shows shooting in NY (well, mostly L&O). Jordan and Robert have the best brother chemistry.
    • I've been pondering how strange it is that in real life NLG was being more supportive of Haley Pullos than I would have been ....  and now Alexis is doing that for Kristina.
    • Natalia worrying about her dress getting dirty during her DUI arrest had to be a reference to Haley Pullos and the $400 shirt.   The birth scene was really good. It could have been OTT but wasn't. There was this great moment was Michael was talking about how he's seen every sonogram and been with her all the way where it registered with Willow that he's been extremely involved with this and she had no idea but then couldn't say anything because she's obviously cheating too. And then they acknowledged each other and he actually thanked her. It was very humanizing for both characters.
    • This show treats Claire like a glorified extra prop not the granddaughter of the 2 biggest supercouples this show has ever had. I don't think was ever invested in Claire nor writing for her & her connections to majority of the town. What a waste of a legacy character with so much potential
    • Kim Zimmer could have had a nice career as a supporting actress in Hollywood, but that does not appear to be what she wanted. That's fine, but in the eighties, she was not going to have many options as a leading actress. The eighties were brutal for a performer like her.  Her one big film role lasted a minute or two. Even while she was on GL, she should have been doing episodic television. Was her agent that incompetent or was she just bad at auditioning? Her episode of "Designing Women" was quite popular and was discussed at the time for its subject matter, but she never followed up on it. It's bizarre to me.
    • Billy just showed up for Vanessa's memorial (Sept 9, '96), which is so nice!  My first time seeing him like this outside of random clips from the past. He's out of jail for 24 hours, so not long. It's good to see him with the family.
    • Definitely was more recent than not; when the set originally returned, the change hadn't happened.
    • It was nice seeing Victorias house and I see it’s been remodelled. I’m sure this happened awhile ago but since I tuned out from the show for so long I am only noticing it now. Looks beautiful though!  Also, Billy and Sally gross me out so much. I don’t know what it is I hate so much about them. They give me the ick. Definitely a mismatch. I don’t buy that these people would be attracted to eachother in real life much less have a relationship..
