But, does it say tragedy strikes the Chancellor/Foster family? If so, it's either one. Either Jess or Jeanne. And, if LML kills off either one of these vets, with a lousy story, there will be hell to pay, and it should be. It makes no damn sense for this to happen. Even when fans and viewers say they want to see the vets, apparently it goes in one ear and out the other with TPTB. Whoever is over CBSD needs to have a littlechat with her, and, if true, tell her the error of her ways.

Is the "Chancellor/Foster family tragedy" an actual spoiler that came from somewhere or is it a rumor. I haven't heard anything about that until this thread.

LML doesn't even mention Kay in the SOD fall previews and only mentions that Gloria will be competing with Jill and Ashley over Will Bardwell.

It's in DruRocks first post.

If LML kills off Jeanne Cooper, I'm done with the show!

This would SOOOO be the beginning of the end of Y&R's #1 Running Streak if that happened.

People LOVE Katherine Chancellor. I don't care how old Jeanne Cooper is. Write a storyline for this woman!

And, BTW, not all "shocking soap storylines" have to be about death. Why does every show feel the need to shock us with death?! I don't get it.

^I believe that as well. If they do this, they will have ratings for the week, but in the long run, viewers would leave in droves. Why is it that most of these damn soaps have HWs adn EPs who are more interested in pissing off their viewers than writing good stories for the over-50 crowd?

i just wanted to add my two cents, when you think of a show, there is always one core character that makes you think of the show.

Erica= AMC

Victoria Lord = OLTL ( i really dont like her, or nicki or tommy, but she is still core)

Katherine= Y&R

And if you try to kill off Erica, without her wanting to go... yea there is no fury... So let them even let go of Jill... but not Katherine...

I have loved what Lynn Marie Latham has done with Y&R but if she for one second is having thoughts of killing off Katherine.... then hell hath no fury. That would be an unforgivable sin.

If this is the case, this lady is going to make the very same mistakes Tom Langdon did when he focused on the young set instead of the vets on Days. But, this is worse. Jeanne is the star of the show. She is the figurehead for Y&R. The senior player. She should have the right to speak her mind, and now she may get fired for it?

If true, this is beyond stupid. This would be akin to when Frances Reid was fired from Days. People tuned out in droves. And, the EP, Ken Corday, had said that he wanted to have a show where the fans would get so pissed off they would throw stuff at the screen. What kind of [!@#$%^&*] is that?!

Someone needs to find out if this is true or not.

Frances Reid was never fired from Days. She and Deidre Hall knew in advance that they were being killed off and had to play along. Neither were ever fired. BTW, people didn't tune out of Days just because frickin' Alice was killed off.

One, yes they did. Maybe you were not a member here when all of the Days fans revolted when she was FIRED. They didn't find out until later that they were all going to be rehired back on. So, remember that the next time you call yourself getting testy with me, ok?

You're right, Roman. Corday called all the victims into his office in APRIL for a meeting and said he was bringing them all back. Now, Alice was murdered on March 31, 2004. And DAYS tapes one month in advance, so that would mean they taped Alice's "death" at the end of February.

And back to the topic of this thread: I, personally, don't really care if they do this, but I do know that it will hurt the show... A LOT. Sure, the ratings will surge during the week of her death, but they will probably immediately drop the week after that. After just killing off a 24-year vet (Jerry Douglas), why the hell would they kill off another MAJOR character to the show?

On the other hand, we don't even know if the word "tragedy" means death. I could mean a heart attack or something else.

And we also don't know if it is in FACT Katherine. It could be Jill.

DaysForever,

Thanks for backing me up on this. It just kills me when people start posting smart-ass comments and don't have a clue what they're talking about.

I truly hope you are right, and it's just an illness. Maybe Katherine has a stroke, and Jill has to take over CI. But, when Katherine gets better and wants to resume control, Jill won't give it up, creating a major story between the two.

The tragedy bit is only a rumor, a fact is that SOD said a senior vet will not be on the show come 2007. If it were just the killer story we've been begging for, the actor would still be on the show in 2007.

I don't care if it's Jill or Katherine, I'm sure the Y&R fans will band together and make sure it doesn't happen.

I've expressed my feelings about Kay possibly being written off (check my blog, it's in my sig, I'm a pimp) but I really don't think Y&R, even under LML who I run hot and cold with, would be so stupid as to fire two truly beloved actors in the same year. Already we've been through losing Cassie and John.

The only time Jeanne Cooper should ever leave this show is if she chooses to quit, retire or die. Yes, choose to die, she's that powerful. I refuse to imagine this without Katherine. I refuse to imagine TPTB at Y&R who have done so much good over the years being so phenomenally stupid as to fire Jeanne.
