DAYS: Matt Ashford Interview In SOD

Matt's comments: the "Jack is always dying" SL was becoming a joke.

He and Missy weren't at all happy with the writing, they didn't feel the writers cared at all about Jack/Jennifer.

He thanks the fans for their support.

He wishes DAYS all the best in future.

He'd happily return to the show if asked, because he thinks there is still a future for Jack on DAYS without Jennifer.

You'd expect Matt Ashford to be bitter, but once again, the guy demonstrates what a class act he is.

I hope another soap is about to hire him soon. :D

I love Matt, too. Jack could be a marvelous character in Salem and it surely does need more men in town. I hope he'll be back.

I love Matt to and hope he does return sooner rather then later. I think that will be the case. I agree with him that the story was a joke and applaud him for doing his job as an actor and making it work.

I wish him the best and hope he returns soon. :)

I still want him on ATWT as a Snyder. He just screams "I'm a Snyder!"

All together now ..."Matt is a class act". I love him for speaking out about the storyline or lack thereof.

The show WILL NEVER be the same without Matt and Missy. It may get better but without their unique blend of comedy and realism, the show will not reach the heights it could...JMO

Not suprised at all. I reall like both MA and Jack, as well as MR and Jen. Sad that things had to end this way.

Hope to see him back later on with a real story~!

can I post some quotes from the article? :

"I kind of prided myself for years that my storyline may have been weird at times, but it was never a joke and it has turned into a joke. Maybe that's indicative that there had to be a change in my part. It's time to go. Honestly, Missy has felt this coming for a long time and she didn't want to see me or her or us turn into a little sidebar for a joke. I love this character and the show and the people, and it's been a great place to work, but you kind of have to look at the reality of this moment and it's time to roll."

about JER:""My character had not been forefront in the writer's mind. I've done the best I can. Missy's done the best she can and if people enjoued what we've come up with, that's what I really appreciate. Frankly, I think that if the fans weren't as supportive as they have been, we probably would have been gone a long time ago. We have struggled to make something happen whenever we're on."

Great interview. Days wont be the same for me without Jack and Jennifer.

It always amazes me how loyal Matt remains to a show that has treated him like dirt.

He truly is a class act.

PS: He confirms in the interview that CORDAY (and not Sheffer) was the one who wanted J&J to have a "happy" ending.

I have the interview, and its a good interview.

He speaks the truth, but it isn't so blunt. Another class act.

Hopefully he wil be back.

I would have rather seen him as a Craig recast. Maybe if nuCraig flops....

I'm glad he spoke the truth. He's a great man.

I'm sure down the line during Sheffer's reign, Ashford will be back. But most likely without Jennifer.

I'm I the only one who's noticing that in nearly every single one of the actors' exit interviews/blogs/what-have-you, they're mentioning how BAD the writing was and how much better its been. It's kinda scary when the actors know the show's been sucking eggs.
