Now politicsusa is a left leaning sight, but it looks like Trump is setting up a war room with Bannon in charge to discredit the Russia investigation http://www.politicususa.com/2017/05/26/trump-admits-guilt-russia-collusion-plan-set-war-room.html And these fools will believe every piece of Nazi propaganda that comes out of it because frankly they want to Information on California's Single Payer proposal(good article setting things straight). And it's cheaper than expected. http://mattbruenig.com/2017/05/25/idiot-commentary-on-californias-single-payer-push/

Maybe you need to expand your news sources beyond Breitbart and Daily Caller. And I don't see anyone on the left justifying attacks in fact here in Chicago a man who was allegedly a Trump supporter was beaten on the south side by black youths months ago and the entire community here called them out on their actions. They were also arrested. That professor was arrested by the way, while a new congressional rep said "I'm sorry" after assaulting a reporter(an incident witnessed by a Fox News crew) and gets off because he's a mediocre white male billionaire. And the only GOPer calling it out was Mark Sanford believe it or not. I guess you have also missed the number of hate crimes that have increased mostly by white males by the way, ,including the murder of a man of Indian descent in Kansas who worked in the area, went to a bar for drinks, and was shot and killed because the white guy with a gun thought he was a muslim.

I think the estimates are that he lost by 5 points = we'll see. But if anything less than 10 it spells trouble for GOP IMO. I think the message IMO is we need to go back to going for a coalition of voters. If anything this proved is that these WWC people right now will support the authoritarian types. I always felt Quist was a longshot for a number of reasons(ie his own baggage) and some of these districts just aren't ready yet. there are over 300 districts right now more competitive than this one. Someone should have looked at the profile for Tester and Bullock their dem Governor who beat Gianforte to see the democratic profile that might have won. But Quist did win the primary. I just don't think the Bernie socialist message resonates with WWC voters there. I did phone-banking for Quist the last 2 weekend and I talked to several people who could care less about free college or min wage. And these were democrats we called.

Most ballots were cast already as absentee voters(around 65 to 70%) before the incident

No one is saying it's over I am just basing my opinion on what I've seen. If the energy out there is contingent on this one race(Because it is only 1) then people were never into it to begin with. And none of these races being fought (Thompson, Quist, Ossoff) were ever considered swing districts. Thompson in fact got very little support including media support until the couple of days prior to his election and closed the gap from November by 21 points. Democrats are having successes in the areas now where you can get a quicker turnaround at the state and local levels. I live in Illinois and am thrilled with how well the party did here in April in local races in traditionally red areas. No one is relying on the party either because that is a recipe right now for failure.

I doubt it's going to have an impact one way vs another. 65-70% of Montana voters already voted before today. And I expect Gianforte to win but like with Thompson in Kansas by a slimmer margin than expected.

Finally a move I agree with the DNC on. And Jason Kander is heading this effort. Please let us not see this turned into "identity politics". Preserving everyone's right to vote is mega important. https://www.thenation.com/article/democrats-launching-commission-protect-american-democracy-trump/

So apparently many of the votes in Montana have already been cast by absentee ballot. According to CNN, the Sec of State's office has been swamped with calls from people all over the state wanting to know if they can change their vote.

It is and the medium income there is something like 150k About some key wins yesterday Pellegrino won because she had universal democratic support(Democratic Party, Working Families Party) and is a young teacher against common core, something that likely resonates with people from that area. Trump won the district by 60 - she won with 58%.

These are the reasons rehashing the 2016 election serves zero purpose. One can learn from it and move on without alienating people. There were 2 seats won yesterday, this one and another in New Hampshire, both held by republicans before the election, both in pro trump districts, both seats in long time GOP held districts. THis is what happens when people work together. Pelegrino's election is a perfect example of people working together. She had the backing and money from the party establishment, she was also backed by the teachers union who gave her a good pool of money. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/democrats-win-two-elections_us_59250144e4b0ec129d3082d0 And I want to remind people this is not the first. Here in Illinois, there were a ton of local elections democrats won in April in areas like Elgin, Normal. Kankakee, Champaign - areas and races held by republicans in the state. This was big news here. I helped with a local election in Berwyn where half the democratic establishment was beaten by Berwyn United members, a more progressive group. Anyone who knows about the establishment in Illinois knows what a cancer it is in some cases. Berwyn had the typical cronyism in full view and the party money. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/democrats-grassroots-trump-elections_us_58efd21de4b0bb9638e270c1 When you see successes happening so soon at the local and state levels, it's very discouraging to hear many still beat the drum of failure. No one is pretending there have not been problems and still aren't, but many are working their tails off to change things. THe fact that it's happened in some cases as quickly as it has is a testament to the foot soldiers making it happen.

This is an pretty good chat on Bernie Sanders facebook page between he and voting rights and campaign finance expert Rick Hasen. Very good and clearcut for folks who have a hard time understanding the issues around voting certain demographics face. I will say I am glad to see Sanders talking about this. https://www.facebook.com/senatorsanders

I just can't. There are some in Illinois whose anger at the democratic party here is misplaced as well at this point in time. Chicago and much of Illinois is still old school democrats(there have been some local races that have been taken by new faces which is encouraging) but the party itself is still run by the establishment. We have a GOP governor who is a billionaire, yet these people are talking about putting a primary candidate against Mike Madigan when we have the most destructive do nothing governor in the history of the state. Now I am no Madigan fan but right now I am happy he is speaker because who knows how a less powerful speaker might have compromised on some of the issues this governor wants to push(right to work, voter ID laws). It's like channel your efforts accordingly right now. Let's focus on getting the GOP out right now and then roll back and go after those you see as barriers to progress in the party itself. And I still have a lot of issues with the democrats(their messaging is still a nightmare) but can we not get people to unite behind opposing the GOP and bad healthcare, a horrible tax plan, protecting our public lands and support improving the ACA and a progressive tax plan?

Well maybe people could get over it if others didn't keep dragging it up. I'm over the Clintons in terms of public service, but [!@#$%^&*] Chelsea Clinton can't even have a twitter account and tweet and promote her book without white male pundits coming after her telling her to go away and stop trying to run for office, something she has said now denied having an interest in at least 10 times in articles in recent months. Was this something Biden had to mention NOW, particularly after a fairly disastrous unity tour Perez and Sanders conducted. So while perhaps my post is offensive , lets all move on to a new generation of leaders. They are out there. Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Kirstin Gillibrand, Chris Murphy, Jason Kander, Adam Schiff, Keith Ellison, Tim Ryan, Gavin Newsome. There is actually a fairly decent bench of younger democrats I'd be happy to see step up provided the older folks allow them to. If any benefit has come of this, it's allowed us to see some other folks step up.

Biden ran how many times before. People forget that serving for Obama restored his image a bit so perhaps that's partially true. But isn't what we kept hearing is how this was an election of change? I'm not convinced Biden would have won anymore than I am convinced Sanders would have.

Do men like Biden and Sanders really believe the way to the presidency is continuing to attack Hillary Clinton or prop themselves up as saviors?. Seriously. For people who want to move on, these white men can't stop talking about it. You know I was actually proud Obama stepped forward in 2014 and acknowledged women have a tougher time than men, over black men. Why do people like Biden want to take us back. I can respect his service and much of the heartache due to the tragedies in his life, I also remember he WROTE the disastrous Clinton Crime Bill. I also am old enough to remember how he along with the parade of white men in the senate, lambasted Anita Hill. Hearings that aired on TV and led to 6 women getting voted into the senate in 1992. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/05/19/biden-disses-clinton-i-never-thought-she-was-a-great-candidate-i-thought-i-was-a-great-candidate/?utm_term=.d146122a84cd

Good thing. THis is what the democrat have been asking for. He's going to have open access to anything he needs, ability to investigate, subpoena, hire investigators, and prosecute. He has a fairly stellar reputation. I believe he was asked by Obama to stay on beyond his 10 year term.
