I appreciate you sharing this. I am going to have to put him on my podcast list. That second half on voter ID laws, voter suppression, and such was excellent and really good contributors. I've already subscribed to the Brennan center newsletter after listening. There are some very sobering facts but also some reason for optimism if people keep working and paying attention to these things and actually show up to vote. There is a great organization out there also called Voter Riders which is a national group organized to help people get the documentation they need to register and to vote. Another crony. Didn't he work for the law firm backing Gorsuch's nomination? No thanks. He also backed McCain over Obama. Pass. I don't buy he's non partisan

Even before any of this I never understood the appeal of Fallon in this role. Short term as a novelty yes. But he's far too silly IMO.

I have no idea whose brainstorm moving that embassy was but staying out of Jerusalem has been an unwritten rule for years. Unless you are looking for confrontation and discord. It frustrates the hell out of me to continue to see Bernie all over the airwaves. One good thing that has come out of this Trump disaster is we have gotten a chance to see some younger democrats come to the table. Schiff seriously impresses me, Gillibrand, Booker, I finally saw Kamala Harris being interviewed(I only watched that night because she was on). She's pretty amazing. The democrats have a deeper bench that many are giving them credit for.

So according to Erik Erickson, in the 2 house races upcoming(Montana and Georgia 6), the democrats have pulled ahead in both races. Apparently Bernie is going to Montana over the weekend for a few rally's with Quist. Lord I hope he doesn't kill the momentum. I have yet to see one Bernie candidate win a race.

I think it's frankly too soon anyway. It will be interesting to see Comey testify. Lindsey Graham has now asked him to testify publicly. Oh heck I had forgotten about that. Kelly major fail. Oprah trumps almost anyone.

Yes I predict it will be a huge flop.

Seriously the Washington Post is outscooping the Times who has to have a weekly column "things nice about Trump". The times IMO lost it's credibility with the Judith Miller garbage.15 years ago. Their so called "great reporters" Thrush and Haberman are more concerned about access than doing any real journalism As for MSNBC Andy Lack is a disgrace. The evening lineup at MSNBC has been outperforming Fox and CNN, yet all this idiot is concerned about is salvaging the likes of Brian Williams and Matt Lauer. Word is Megyn Kelly was his idea and I have no doubt she's going to tank bigtime also, My worst fear is O'Donnell ending up at CNN and having a show that turns into a screamfest of pundits like the rest.

So apparently confirmed. MSNBC is not keeping O'Donnell http://www.showbiz411.com/2017/05/15/msnbc-ending-lawrence-odonnell-the-last-word-show-despite-top-ratings Seriously about the only host on that network I actually enjoy. I don't watch any of the news channels much, but I do like him.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/car-makers-despite-promises-to-president-trump-set-on-job-cuts-1494960177?mod=e2tw&mg=id-wsj With automakers looking to cut jobs, I have to guess that autosales are trending downward this month also. I guess we will see. April was the first month in how many years that saw auto sales down. People may not like it but consumers hold onto their money if things become uncertain, like our idiot president

Seriously this is an excuse? Lives may be put in danger but ok the incompetent in the White House didn't know. Oh he might have known but come on he didn't care. The lives of anyone other than himself means nothing. And http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/13/trump-2018-midterms-gop-alarm-238342 “The bottom line is that we’ve got to recruit well, we’re going to have to raise a bunch of money,” he said. “Democrats are upset that they lost, they didn’t think that was going to happen. They’re motivated, and we’re going to have to redouble our efforts.” Over margaritas and seafood on the sun-drenched back patio of the Hotel del Coronado, GOP operatives began sketching out what a 2018 campaign would look like — and how they would contend with an unpredictable president with record-low approval ratings. San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, who is being recruited by party leaders to run for California governor, said Republicans running in challenging political terrain would be able to differentiate themselves from the president by casting themselves as inclusive and highlighting local issues. “To be successful in California is to be successful across party lines,” said Faulconer, who noted that he spoke Spanish in the first TV ad of his mayoral campaign. “You have to have Democrats, you have to have independents, you have to have Republicans. That message of bringing people together is incredibly important.” This has got to be one of the dumbest stmts I have read as they continue to erode Independent support. There is only one way to get these people back and it's not happening.

Trump is not going to last but Putin has already accomplished what he wanted which was to disrupt and blacken the greatest democratic country in the world. I'm thinking the end of this is not hopeless, meaning that this country really needs to take a hard look at our institutions and shore them up. A lot of people who need to be gone will be. We won't have the same influence around the world perhaps but I am not convinced that is necessarily a bad thing.

I wonder if Netanyahu still thinks Trump is the greatest. In a matter of one week Trump has destroyed the reputations of Rosenstein and McMaster, 2 well respected public servants.

Haberman who I have ZERO use for(no idea why she has such a great reputation). Anyway one of the comments I read about the White House underestimating the blowout ties to something John Dean also said about Watergate. When Nixon fired Cox after Cox refused to sideline the investigation, it was a surprise to much of the White House staff and like the Trump folks, everyone in the White House was shocked at the blowback.

Me either. This scandal has been hanging over their heads from day 1. Watergate didn't happen overnight. John Dean was on with Chris Hayes this evening and reminded folks of something. The House judiciary committee took a vote on Nixon's impeachment several days before he resigned. Every single GOPer voted no. Then the tape appeared with Nixon and Haldeman talking about the coverup. Next day they all voted yes. Then Nixon resigned.

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/332529-obama-you-get-the-politicians-you-deserve-if-you-dont-vote You know I love POB and I agree with this when it comes to those who can freely vote without having their identity questioned and have to show their papers to vote.(like those idiots who sat at home or voted for Stein). But why is everyone including Obama refusing to talk or mention the biggest hindrance to voting. Democrats should be fighting voter suppression all over the country and talking about it as an issue. Why do democrats continue to allow the GOP to control the narrative on yet another issue that helps diminish democratic support and voting ability?

A pretty decent article from The Atlantic on why people really voted how they did. Something every person here has known and seen all through the horrid election season. The author calls it "Cultural Anxiety"(I guess parroting Economic Anxiety). I know what I call it. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/05/white-working-class-trump-cultural-anxiety/525771/.

So Macron won 66% of the vote and Le Pen 33%. That is 33% - 8% more than pre election polling showed Also remember Merkels' party also won convincingly in a regional election on Sunday also

So it seems the turnout in the French election was down which some felt was a concern for Macron. Doesn't seems like it mattered. Still their "low" vote of 66% is still miraculous compared to our terrible turnouts. Macron actually beat Le Pen 3% higher than what he was polled at.

Merkel's party the Christian Democrats also won a regional election today in Germany http://www.politico.eu/article/angela-merkel-conservatives-give-martin-schulz-spd-black-eye-schleswig-holstein-state-election/ I've heard some chiding Macon's victory in France. But the key might be that the Fillon contingent backed Macron not LePen unlike here where the GOP fell in line right behind Trump. Also remember Melenchon, the left candidate(see Jill Stein) refused to endorse Macron. After reading that BS from the GOP aide about "Identify Politics" being used as an excuse to keep women and POC from the table on constructing a healthcare plan, can we stop pretending that the likes of many of the also extreme left Sanders followers also chiding "identity politics = bad" are allies. To me they fall into the bucket MLK warned blacks about when it came to "white liberals".
