I have been wondering the same thing for the past couple days. Oh, yes, and then I flinched when his name came up in the credits. I just hope that at a minimum, they have him contained now.

You can take it to the bank. Once a week they do something to foul things up!! Also 3rd day in a row written by scab writers. Unknown ones. The good doc, Montague, is practically twirling a mustache. I'm horrified at Sasha's story. I would have sent her on a 25-city tour as the Face of Deception illustrating that vibrator or whatever it is. Sasha today reminded me of being in the hospital for a week in May 2021 when for 2 days I could not sleep & I just cried nonstop. I had a doc who told me he was going to hit me if I didn't go to sleep. That was so helpful. I have Parkinsons & I had begun to have Parkinsons hallucinations & until we got some meds changed & titrated it was sheer misery. Loved Carly at Kelly's & her line about why would she give it up, great dialogue. Nina so typically thought wrong so said wrong. Seemed like Carly was doing everything. No employees?!! But she did refer to a waitress. NuGeorgie did not look like her picture. But I really love Leo. James did a perfect pout. I predict NuGeorgie & James are soon going to love not sharing a room! I thought NuMolly sounded youthful & her voice reminds me of Haley. Gladys keeping Maxie from seeing Sasha? That woman is going down! Going back to Wednesday, Mo & Maura were just divine. Give them 20 minutes. Say anything & they make it work. Yes, to Magic Gran Felicia. @carolineg Brooke was a very effective crier. But the set-up, premise & predictability of the Curtis POV is just so awful. My 1st goals for Curtis was dead. My 2nd was mute. I see this dragging on, endlessly.

Well I happen to be one of the AW fans who believe the long-held fan lore that the affiliates hated the 90 minute format & thought it was the show's idea & blamed them for it & turned on them. Previously they'd been very fond of the show. So I count that as a large factor & actually say that it was the first nail in the coffin. Other times are perplexing to me because I felt the ratings didn't reflect the actual quality & seeming popularity of the show at that given time. And, I continue to contend that 90 minutes is just an awkward time amount.

On the Wikipedia annual list there's a year when SEARCH did a 16 & I am just agog.

@carolineg & @AbcNbc247 Agree that they are rushing through it & missing all kinds of possible beats that might be interesting. Would guys think it ridiculous if they had just kissed once & stopped? And, about DanF's EJ, I like him & I never liked James Scott's. I do know that the actor thinks of the character's long history as stuff that happened a very long time ago. I was conversing online with him for awhile. Nice guy, interesting, loves his job. Didn't try to pick me up. That in itself is dadgummed nice. And rare.

@carolineg & @j swift All I know is that this has been several times now when it's been night & day in the same episode at an overlapping time. At least that's how I describe it. @JAS0N47 Hey! Do you have any idea why this "day & night at the same time" thing is happening?

General Hospital: July 2023 Discussion Thread
You found it? When I search for it I still get the day before. Dadgum. OH GOOD GRIEF. I found it on the bottom of a page of multiple episodes. Thnx for making me go an extra mile.

Have any of you ever heard of Hulu not putting the day's episode up for this long? Yesterday is still not up. Per usual I have tweeted to them & usually they reply. No reply. This is very unsatisfactory.

"I suppose it would be a shame to let all this gratuitous nudity go to waste." Just a great line. Kayla's speech to Theo about being a good person, great dialogue. Then, Lani's speech of farewell to Abe, excellent dialogue. Thank you, Kirk for good words today. Gwen/Leo, Gwen/Dmitri & Dimitri/Leo & all 3, hokey but also totally soapy. They say as fans we will accept things that don't make sense if they are "soapy" enough. I think this fits that bill. With Abe they're symbolically building his family. Should be an excellent dramatic ride. When the end credits rolled I flinched when *his* name came up.

Yeah, 98% & 99% but not 100. And, at times weekly variation. Just curious.

Lin Bolen did a trial run of a 60 min. DOC. Some of us have wondered out loud why they did not pursue it. Speculated they didn't have room & would've needed more room. Speculated maybe something different with the sponsor. But, that spec is only educated guesses. Simply unknown. And, whether they discussed it and TEXAS in the same moment, also totally unknown.

Just a little tidbit, apparently the actress who said EFF you back to him, after he'd been horrible prior to a love scene was Ari. Good for her.

Yes, that is totally significant. I bet they were already fighting about 90 minutes then. I suspect that Lemay's writing may have suffered from the first moment it was brought up. He was already disenchanted with the move to an hour before they introduced 90 minutes as a concept. He had had such high hopes for creative reasons about the expansion to an hour & he had been proved so totally wrong. This morning early I was not in a position to run down the numbers in the 70s ratings folder so I just went with the yearly. Thank you for those numbers. Did you see elsewhere that I got that book & found the info? The TV Annual 78-79. Thanks again for the tip on that. Yes, the schedule change. I well recall reading how very concerned Lin Bolen was with even the tiniest change to the schedule & calculating how best to do it. And, at ABC, they worked on writing & production to get maximum ratings out of GH, as we all know, but to a lesser degree also with AMC & OLTL because what they really were shooting for was the #1, #2 & #3 soaps! The whole ball of wax! You would have had the Corringtons supplant Lemay or you mean when Lemay left?

Yes, @GLATWT88 as AW was trending downward, fast, other shows were trending upward just as fast!! Good points all.

According to Schemering 1977-1978 AW was 2nd with an 8.6/28 share where ATWT was 1st with an 8.6/31 share. The Lemay years were known for good ratings. What makes you think they were fixing it? It wasn't broken. 72-73 3rd 9.7/33 73-74 2nd 9.7/32 74-75 2nd 9.7/31 75-76 2nd 8.9/30 76-77 2nd 9.0/29 77-78 2nd 8.6/28 78-79 BOOM 8th 7.5/25 Mar. 5th '79 1st 90 min. show. It wasn't broken. They broke it with Silverman's cockamamie idea!

Yes, I wish that she & they had never gotten going with each other. Oy vey y'all. Hopefully tomorrow they will not start back up with each other. I am at a loss for today because Hulu never put it up! Hate when that happens. But my idea for Curtis would have been that he'd lose his voice not his legs! Imagine if he couldn't speak! Yeah?

She is simply misinformed. She said repeatedly that Fi-Core writers are allowed to write on nonniuion shows & not allowed tow rite on union shows.

I give you my impression of Ken Corday. It's good that they're scared. But it's bad that they look for a PR answer. Double edge.

Well, wasn't it 1979 that was the 90 minute fiasco? Yes, it was. March 5th & 6th, 1979 2 pm timeslot Eastern GL Roger raped Holly OLTL Karen Wolek on the witness stand admitted to being a prostitute (This won the Emmy.) AW first 90 min. show & the death of John Randolph

It's always going to be galling for some non-soap fan to say they didn't even know the shows were still on the air. It's always going to be galling for some non-soap fan to suggest that people stop watching. I don't have some reservoir of respect for people who don't know diddly about soaps. But, everybody else, soap fans, yes, I respect all the differences of opinion, even if I'm being called obtuse. #Fire Albert Alarr NOW So, I think Ava should knock the daylights out of Betty! Anyone else? Is it me or are Chase & BLQ critically confusing? Sometimes they are so sexy & other times "luke cold". So, Nina having a successful visit to the gatehouse? Calm before the storm? How does Carly have any money to redecorate or rehab or whatever Kelly's?

There's only 4 left. Between 1946 & now there have been 84 televised soaps. I remember 57 years of soaps. I just don't see a way not to support Fi-Core status even if it is flawed. Even if it is a necessary evil. Which I believe it is. It comes down to this. The stakes are simply too high. @titan1978 I absolutely positively agree that they are scabs & can be called scabs. That is definitional. What's a scab? Someone who crossed a picket to work for pay.
