  1. I can hear it in a song, rather than It's just a silly love song, It's just a silly Leo fight.
  2. He was so homesick! And his grandsons were so little & he was missing so much time with them!
  3. That's a very clever promo! Last year on UglyX we waged a fan campaign when we could see that GH was going to have to cast Liz's parents. We told Frank to hire Robert Newman (free from Y&R by then) & Colleen & Colleen was quite active at the time so she took part.
  4. Okay, this is all IMDb so we know we use them but we don't trust them. Such as it is: All labeled "TV Movie" Director, Screaming Skull 1973 Director, Sorority Kill 1974 EP, Confessions of a Married Man 1983 co-EP, Remember Me 1995 co-EP, While My Pretty One Sleeps 1997 co-EP, Let Me Call You Sweetheart 1997 co-EP, Moonlight Becomes Her 1998 And in some text I read a reference to Topper but I can't find any such credits. She also shows credits for an Afternoon schoolbreak thing & some kind of TV series Mystery of the Week or something like that. And, really, don't all these TV Movie titles sound absolutely dreadful?!! When she was at her most famous & most productive she made some development deals with Hollywood studios & it put some real bucks in her hands after she left GH, but it sure didn't put "quality" in there!
  5. A while back there was discussion about the NBC affiliate in the San Francisco area not airing AW. I posted about it elsewhere. I knew a friend had lived there & watched the show but she is no longer online. So, today I got a reply from an AW fan who says she's lived & worked in San Francisco since 1983. This is what she said:
  6. I thought your reply was hilarious, fun, on point, ... please do not beat yourself up unless it is with a wet noodle!
  7. Well, when he had his traumatic brain injury for awhile after that, she was his conservator & recently he came to believe that she had stolen 40 thou from him during that time. She says she took care of business & helped him stay alive & took no funds personally. I think he had a lawsuit pending against her when he died. Her name is Susan & I believe she is the one who asked for donations & is also the one who decided he'd be buried in Ohio instead of in CA. Also she said he did not want a funeral. Someone else disputes all 3 of those things.
  8. Oh, goodness, no, he's been here forever & has spent untold amounts of burned calories dogging my posts & trying to make my life miserable. He very very frequently posts something, anything that puts him in a position of being 2% against 98%. If most of the people in a given thread were asserting a blue sky he'd appear out of nowhere & post 3 lines where he made it clear that any idiot could see that the sky is kelly green.
  9. Interesting, that is new to me. She directed the soaps THE FIRST HUNDRED YEARS, a failure, THE SECRET STORM, for 15 years, and obviously a success, and BRIGHT PROMISE, another failure. I never read any titles, only the statement that she also directed some either while she was directing those 3 soaps or in between. That author linked some of the L&L adventures to them as well as where that author thought she got her ideas about editing techniques. I can look in my notes but I know it doesn't include titles. Darnit. Oh, not a problem starting a debate! It's just that I think she was a miracle worker, yes, in a certain situation at a certain time, but personally I feel there was a huge downside to the "Gloria Monty Effect" if you will. That's why I used the word "adversely" in influencing most of soapdom. So, I, too say some good, to give her her due, very good, but some bad & to me overall bad. So we agree when it comes to where we come out but we differ in what we say about the journey.
  10. You seem to think I am advocating for these things instead of pointing out that they did start to trend & this is when & this is why. In fact, besides directing 2 failed soaps & 1 successful soap, Gloria Monty directed a number of Movies Of The Week. That is one of the influences seen, for example, when Luke & Laura went on the run.
  11. It is true that what she did, did not ultimately sustain. However, it is not true that these characteristics did not have a lasting effect on soaps in general. You cannot dispute that there has been much more plot-driven & action-driven storytelling throughout daytime since Gloria made GH #1. Same is true with sci-fi elements. Just because Bill Bell did not succumb does not mean most of soapdom was not effected & I would suggest adversely. AMC, examples McTavish & Pratt. We would never have had James Reilly burying Carly alive if not for Gloria Monty 80s GH. Etc.
  12. Oh, yes, he's dead. Not Salem dead either. This is Sweeps dead. I'm gonna go out on a limb & say it was not Ava. 😉
  13. Now you've just made me think by bringing up Glo in regard to 1980s trends. Of course, she is responsible for so many changes in soaps. A move away from character-driven stories to action-driven stories or plot-driven. More short scenes. A faster overall pace. More editing within scenes. Cross-cutting edits. More outdoor shooting but not on exotic locale remotes, instead just ordinary outside places. Very long shooting days. Cocaine. Inclusion of Action/Adventure sequences. Inclusion of sci-fi. Cheesy production values. Inclusion of "romcom" stories. Inclusion of Movie of the Week type "from the headlines" stories.
  14. @j swift Turn ON personal messaging at least temporarily.
  15. The lawyer turned out to be gay & was persuaded that they had a real love & granted him his inheritance & put into place his getting the first installment & other installments were to follow. We the audience don't have any knowledge about any subsequent installments. Kristen told Gwen that Dimitri was cheating with Leo & Gwen claimed that she already knew. We the audience do not know if Gwen was being truthful or not about already knowing. But, she did tell Kristen of things that happened & alleged that this & that caused her to first be suspicious & then to know.
  16. Wikiwand quote: Fresno was screened three times in the United States in 1986, 1987 and 1989. Well, we know that they can & do often have errors so if you found no instance of rebroadcast in 1987 I will correct that in my files.
  17. Well, hello there. For a lurker to speak up is an occasion of significance! Greetings, TGIF day & can you believe that in just a week it is Thanksgiving?!! Have you always watched credits? I have, or at least, I have when possible. The days when they shrank them, moved them way to the side or put a huge insignia bug on top of them were frustrating days! I still don't like Gwen but Leo treated her so poorly I gave her some grudging empathy. I loved JL's Theresa but haven't been able to get on board with EOB's. As an out & proud gay woman Leo is one huge disappointment & embarrassment. I think Ron wants him to be a bent gay court jester & I can see that in theory, but it utterly fails in the execution.
  18. I'm not sure what you're thinking of but it is sometimes frustrating when actors look at certain stories very differently than the way the fans see them. I think about the example of John cheating on Sharlene to be with Felicia. That was a story that fans largely abhorred & the actors just loved it. It's because they tire of playing the same stuff & jump at the chance to do something new & different!
  19. I found it on Bing Images but in fact their listed source for it was your DAYS website so, yes, it is exactly the one you got from her!!!
  20. @carolineg Oh, I agree. As much as I do not care for dead baby stories & as much as I really do not care for McTavish's writing, it was planned & executed like a war campaign. This is apparently just going to be slipdash.
  21. Oh, you are very welcome. I did not see them live when it happened & so later I allowed myself to put off watching it. And, I just said to myself that I have seen Luke rape Laura. I have seen Bill rape Laura. I have seen Eden Capwell's stranger intruder rape but I have not watched this when I probably have more respect for the storytellers & the tale they told & I just needed to buck up & watch it. So I did & after I was glad I'd gotten with it.
  22. ⏫🔼⬆️⤴️ THIS!!! Constantly, daily, like it says ALWAYS I was trying to think of the GREAT 2003/2004 CROSSOVER AMC/OLTL baby swap with helicopter crash in the woods ... There were two pregnant women on that helicopter & they both gave birth in the woods, so at one point there were two babies ... but we ended up with just one. If I remember correctly Babe's little boy died & Bianca's little girl lived but they told Bianca her baby had died & gave Bianca's baby to Babe. Do y'all remember? It was absolutely one of the most emotionally exhausting stories I ever felt my way through & it had the added difficulty that you had to watch two shows. At least we only have to watch DAYSPeacock! I'm tired & angry just thinking about Theresa snatching Victoria. I really had been thinking its time for Lucas to get out.
