Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread
I just think it's odd that it is so close to a replay of Alex vs. Chad vis a vis Stephanie! Everything is basically "Here we go again!" I wonder if she really is jealous or just annoyed, irritated, impatient & if I were her, I would be too. She & Johnny are not alone much. That was weird. But, the whole day was weird! And, then, no Doug & no children. Just out of sight. You'd have thought Julie, having so few Hortons, would have invited the almost Horton, Maggie & Sarah & Victoria, ya think? Very much, the greetings of the season! 🦃🍗🍠🌽🥧🍕🍕🍕 Happy Thanksgiving! And, welcome again! BTW, I got the writer for the 21st. Now my show deets chart is up to date: 11-17-23 37 min. W-Dave Ryan D-Scott McKinsey 11-20-23 35 min. W-Sonja Alarr D-Noel Maxam 11-21-23 42 min. W-Kirk Doering D-David Shaughnessey 11-22-23 38 min. W-David Kreizman D-Albert Alarr 11-23-23 40 min. W-Dave Ryan D-David Shaughnessey I just found out that Charles's brother David is married to former writer Anne Schoettle & Amy is their daughter. Amy is often on UglyX, which used to be Twitter.

I've heard of Bergerac but that's all & not saying much. My favorite Australian shows are soaps with Janet King & the actress who plays her, and other roles, uh-oh maybe somebody Dusselfdorf? I say I have watched some of so many soaps that it's easier to say which I have not & just that I have all of the rest. I have not watched Love of Life, The Secret Storm, Ryan's Hope, Dark Shadows, Passions, Young & Restless. And 2 of those "no shows" are strange because I so revere Labine & Bell.

It's just so weird to me, the timing of it, juxtaposition of one month when she & Dee were on almost every single day & then the very next month, they knock her down from contract to recurring. I can see that she doesn't have much story. Maybe that will change if Lucas ever gets home from the slammer. I wish they could cast Gina Tognoni as Billie but I know there's no hope of getting old regulars back. Agree with the gang that Clyde being a powerful mucky-muck is a case of 'make it make sense.' Agree with the gang that Abe & Nicole was today's sweet spot. Pretty interesting that Eric is telling Sloan pointed bits out of Nicole's more sordid history. Samuel after Sami, I vote yes.

Were people getting tired of the miniseries format by then? Personally I thought it was hilarious but it certainly didn't stand up to classics like Sho-Gun, The Thornbirds & Bare Essence.

Wasn't Margaret DePriest HW during at least part of that time? She's known for liking to do multiple serial killers, basically back to back. She did it that way on DAYs & later did it that way on AW.

Thank you for this! Here's AW's Mac toasting Thanksgiving 1987. Maybe someone has ATWT's Bob Hughes doing so, too. I don't know about you but I have 2 favorite Thanksgiving movies. What's Cooking is free on Freevee & Pluto & Roku. Home for the Holidays 1995 unsure,

Saying that you agree to disagree with someone & why is in no way impinging upon their ability to state & have that opinion. Rather it is a hallmark of 'live & let live' discussion since it is upfront in acknowledging different opinions is cool. If you offer to agree to disagree you are expressing respect of that other person & their opinion.

It's a stunt. In theory there's nothing wrong with stunts. But, in execution, there can be wide disparity! The Jack shower scene, clever stunt. Revealing RKK as the recast Bo at Vivian's masked ball, also clever but that one was quite complex & took two episodes to tell. The Santa Barbara 'Mason takes a punch' & Terry Lester goes down & Gordon Thompson pops up, simple but also clever. I don't think Ben/Alex was anything special. But maybe that first day Gwen/Theresa at the airport was also clever. Nothing clever since though!

Given the several hundred comments from well wishers I think she will live without your appreciation. IOW, there would seem to be plenty of room for differences of opinion about her tenure. We would just have to agree to disagree since I reject your premise. There's no way you could show causality between someone staying at a company for a 35 year career & them being a toxic person. Please, make it make sense. And, she was only in a position of power maybe the last third of that. First Meredith was top Editor & then Lynn Leahey was.

Thank you, Bee, I will gladly accept a break from EOB1. I was very frustrated with the credits yesterday. My schedule was crazy busy so I didn't get to watch DAYS until late in the day & by then they skipped showing most of the credits & I didn't even get to make note of the script writer for the day, just the director. I don't like it that Peacock does that, but Peacock doesn't care. I've just started watching The Doctors again for the first time since I was a teen & there's something about how slowly the credits wind down that is just thrilling to me. Then the announcer says, "Stay tuned for Another World in living color!" And, there's my favorite show!

This just popped up, appeared in my Facebook Memories for Nov. 21, 2020. I have no recollection of it, nor where I got it, On November 21, 1980, 350 million people around the world tuned in to television’s popular primetime drama “Dallas” to find out who shot J.R. Ewing, the character fans loved to hate. J.R. had been shot on the season-ending episode the previous March 21, which now stands as one of television’s most famous cliffhangers. The plot twist inspired widespread media coverage and left America wondering “Who shot J.R.?” for the next eight months. The November 21 episode solved the mystery, identifying Kristin Shepard, J.R.’s wife’s sister and his former mistress, as the culprit. The CBS television network debuted the first five-episode pilot season of “Dallas” in 1978; it went on to run for another 12 full-length seasons. The first show of its kind, “Dallas” was dubbed a “primetime soap opera” for its serial plots and dramatic tales of moral excess. The show revolved around the relations of two Texas oil families: the wealthy, successful Ewing family and the perpetually down-on-their-luck Barnes family. The families’ patriarchs, Jock Ewing and Digger Barnes, were former partners locked in a years-long feud over oil fields Barnes claimed had been stolen by Ewing. Ewing’s youngest son Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and Barnes’ daughter Pam (Victoria Principal) had married, linking the battling clans even more closely. The character of J.R. Ewing, Bobby’s oldest brother and a greedy, conniving, womanizing scoundrel, was played by Larry Hagman. As J.R. had many enemies, audiences were hard-pressed to guess who was responsible for his attempted murder. That summer, the question “Who Shot J.R.?” entered the national lexicon, becoming a popular t-shirt slogan, and heightening anticipation of the soap’s third season, which was to air in the fall. After a much-talked-about contract dispute with Hagman was finally settled, the season was delayed because of a Screen Actors Guild strike, much to the dismay of “Dallas” fans. When it finally aired, the episode revealing J.R.’s shooter became one of television’s most watched shows, with an audience of 83 million people in the U.S. alone—a full 76 percent of all U.S. televisions on that night were tuned in—and helped put “Dallas” into greater worldwide circulation. It also popularized the use of the cliffhanger by television writers. The shooting of J.R. wasn’t “Dallas'”only notorious plot twist. In September 1986, fans learned that the entire previous season, in which main character Bobby Ewing had died, was merely a dream of Pam’s. The show’s writers had killed the Bobby character off because Duffy had decided to leave the show. When he agreed to return, they featured him stepping out of the shower on the season-ending cliffhanger, and then were forced the next season to explain his sudden reappearance. The last premiere episode of “Dallas” aired on May 3, 1991. A spin-off, “Knots Landing,” aired from December 27, 1979 until May 13, 1993. “Dallas” remains in syndication around the world.- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread

Yes, that was my immediate thought, isn't this clip a compilation, and if so, then, we cannot say when Actual Day One ended, etc. You're right of course.- Another World Discussion Thread
Wow. I cannot imagine. How did it go over?- Another World Discussion Thread
You mean like OLTL had already done? Or did Y&R not do someone passing like Carla on OLTL? Did they do something different? I saw where Y&R had regular writers back today! Congratulations! That's the first show, right?- 1980s Trends
That's just not what Eddie said to me in email. So I reported one thing & someone else reported another thing & he'd been in contact with Mike. I understand completely that this is what you said happened. But, you can't tell that from the clip. From the clip it appears to be the same day. And, I believe that is where the problem is. Anyway, there was the excitement of finding out about a two-person episode from your fan memories & an article referring to it & that devolved into this utter mess. - Primetime Soaps
