If I remember correctly only B&B is up & they're against talk shows & the thinking is that soaps & talk shows are not effectively competitors. I was wrong. They are nominated. It makes sense because we know that NBC was asking them to do exactly that.

Reaching back a bit, I thought you might enjoy this piece on Rosalyn Carter. I know this writer because she used to write about only Douglas Marland, once a week, every week. Now she's branching out. https://jenniferkathlengibbons.substack.com/p/rosalyn-on-our-mind

ALL: What about Bill Bell's writing made his stories and shows the top standard?
I saw a great deal of Bell at DAYS but I am just now watching Y&R day in/day out so I missed all of him at Y&R and B&B.

The point you may be missing is that, that designer can work with problem areas as well if not better than the people you see as easy but he sees as like all of his people, is that everyone is a challenge to be met. He is exceptionally good at his job & he is devoted to it & he loves it. Some people trust him more than others do. Not trusting your support people is like sabotaging yourself. It is well known that KS has issues. And, you are right she is that body type, petite woman with full bosom. But, if she would deal, she might be shocked at how good she could look. Look at Kelly Monaco & at Becky Herbst, so teeny tiny that their sizes do not register like real numbers do. And, both petite. And, Monaco very full bosom. Challenges, to be met.I did not mean to take over or make a speech. Sorry. I just was trying to get to the rule of thumb. If its working for most, you gotta look to the one where it's not. There's the sticking point. ________________________________________ That's just me underlining the important part. About today, I think it could be interesting for them to try to get Maxie out of debt. Very relatable. Maybe even a good lesson with the holidays approaching. Has any show ever dealt with this as a story? Boy, Sonny really thinks Ava offed Austin! Not for the first time I wish I had a better grasp of the days passing on this show. I'd really like to know how long Austin lay on that floor, with the door wide open!! You know the buyer Lucy has for Windemere that is known by a corporate or PAC or something name, not a person's name? Who besides me is thinking, maybe it's Nik. And, if Nik's back & we just don't know it yet, maybe he plugged Austin?!! Seems more reasonable that my last cockamamie theory!

Newbie here. Audra & Sally look & sound too much like each other. One more newbie impression: Judith Chapman's Gloria has gone so far over the top that I think she's come out the other side!

Shawn Reeves, Emmy-winning Costume Designer at AW, then GL, now for years, GH. He's the one who makes Maura West look fabulous in just about everything he puts her in. He's the one who came up with a bridal gown for Brooke Kerr that showed off every curve in her body. He's the one who has come up with so many different pinks because pink is Taby's superpower, ... I could go on. I haven't seen today yet, headed there now, but she's been better in general of late. Rule of thumb to think about these things. If they can dress these others as well as they can & do, it is something with the one where it is not true.

Yes, I'd like to know how they figured in, if at all.

NBC let the affiliates choose which of the 4 soaps in contention to go with & they chose "the beach soap". That was the way it was referred to. Other choices were the Claire Labine soap & the Stephen Cannell soap & the lawyers soap. Me, I thought the beach soap was the least interesting sounding of the group. They made a good start. But, it never consistently was about anything. They were very beautiful people & had some decent acting. I thought the writing was all over the place. But, do you really think Kay Alden & Ed Scott would have made themselves at home on what was called "the beach soap"? Of course, NBC didn't really do well with hiring heavy-hitters. I'm still furious with them for blocking the Dobsons as HWs at AW in Feb. 1993!

Definitely. John should have been there. It was just crazy. Although I did love the foreshadowing. This is going to blow up in Chad's face. And the worst of it is that they're so boring I can't even get worked up over that. It is funny, though that Gwen could be pissed at their PR approach defense of Leo. At least I think they've played it that when Gwen left town she was ready to tear Leo a new one. Today we had no Ava & no Ari & it shows! I was proud of Peacock today. The credits ran just like they should!

NBC Daytime
Although it could just be that NBC did a pisspoor job of promoting their soaps & were quick to cancel rather than allowing time for a show to grow with or without necessary retooling. NBC was always unhappy with their place in the pecking order but NBC did the worst job of supporting the soaps they had at any given moment. In effect they deserved to be third out of three.

And, she played a character named Phyllis Corrigan on The Doctors, in 1970, so she was in 4 different soaps!! That's from a very reliable poster on my soap group who is a current fan of The Doctors. Yes, bitd the New York soap scene was full of character actors who also trod the boards!!! I'm trying not to be too silly over her death. She was 93 & it was natural causes. And, she had an incredible life! I just really loved & appreciated her work.

I'm sure it wasn't Laurie Caso so there's another EP. Leaves John Valente & FMB. FMB came from ABC. We called her tenure the ABC-ification of ATWT. Black & Stern had no idea what they were doing. Les Moonves recommended them which shows that he didn't know what he was doing either. 1995 was when P&G did the executive shuffle & sent the EP from one show to another between AW & ATWT & GL. Jill went from GL to AW. Valente went from AW to ATWT. Laurie Caso after 40+ yrs with the company got left out in the cold. Who's left? And, it is some writer before Hoagie came in & Barbara was in good shape again!

Sigh. RIP. May light perpetual shine upon her. Loved her in this Stephen King thing. I think it was called Golden Days, not sure. And she was in Another World. I'll have to read the obit because I'm sure she has credits out the back door & around again. Oh, Kyra Sedgwick's mother in The Closer!- Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread

Well, gosh, poor Nick, but he really seemed to be losing it first of all of them. Maybe he drank more water. Victor only sipped. Nick guzzled. Besides, it's only right for Victor, the Great Victor Newman to be just so, victorious. I still can't get over how surreal the whole day was! I am new to Paramount+ & it is doing the weirdest thing. At the first quarter mark it stops & gives me an error message that this video is unavailable. Ha, very funny. Back out of it & reload & it plays the whole rest uninterrupted. Just a little quirk.- Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
