  1. Before she was Helen Grant (Eli's grandmother) on Days Ketty Lester hit no 2 with'Love Letters' in 1962
  2. from French Fan Dec 86 Steve said goodbye to Betsy and Dani and returned to Greece after Tonio, James and Lucinda succeeded in taking over Steve's business Betsy agreed to stay in Oakdale until Steve is established in Greece.
  3. Pre Y&R Nick Scotti (Tony Viscardi) had a couple of club hits, one with a Madonna connection
  4. I recall that at renewal time Runyeon only wanted to sign on for another year which P&G reluctantly agreed to. Thus Marland knew he had to write Steve off as they didn't want Runyeon holding them hostage for another 1 yr deal if he decided or could be talked into staying. As it stood,Steve/Betsy was not a priority for Marland especially as Frost didn't have the same appeal as Betsy that Ryan did and that whole story was pre Marland and winding down. I think that after this P&G stopped 1 yr contracts.
  5. Why did Bell bestow this on Linder and no-one else?
  6. He did follow Agnes so a lot of her very popular characters and stories were in place.
  7. Anders Hove (Faison GH.LOV) in Netflix new Danish thriller 'Chestnut Man' which is quite gripping.
  8. 9. Wonder if we'll ever see Esther again? I would assume like Doug,Kristoff and Christian before her she was quietly put on recurring at some point, despite being in the contract cast list. Such a shame. If Gloria can pop up for no real reason, surely Esther can be seen. She could easily pop into the Chancellor estate(where she should be living) with a baby gift or meet Chloe at Crimson Lights to be a sounding board.
  10. The McColls were Dobson creations? Whatever they were a family from a previous regime who had already been sidelined and Marland wanted to bring in his have not family the Snyders so room had to be made. He claimed Marcy and Stewart were already on the way out when he arrived and he got rid of Maggie and Frank. In his first year or so, what other characters got the chop? Who did he bring in?
  11. As The World Turns Alan Howard was playing Paul Stewart at least until Feb 65
  12. Any mention of Reed coming to his mom's wedding?
  13. Pure speculation, but from reading articles from that time. Jada seemed like a very 60's free spirit, creative type who maybe found soap work a little restricting after a time. So she would do the work, make some money and then take off to travel etc. She also had a son around this time so maybe wanted to concentrate on that.
  14. A May 73 article states that Jada was returning after a two year absence. So Lynne was on May 71-May 73.
  15. Variety reported that in early 1965 CBS was pondering moving Edge of Night to primetime but putting plans on hold to see how Peyton Place on ABC held up. The upshot was instead they went with the ATWT spinoff Our Private World. Wonder how the EON run would have worked out? Would it be a spinoff of some sort as I can't see them dropping Edge in the daytime.
  16. Danfling is referring to the first year of the show. Several actors were replaced as the show settled in. The actors playing Linc, Ann. Paul and Kate were all replaced.
  17. Madeleine Sherwood Variety reports she left the role in January 1965 for a role in the Rogers/Sondheim musical 'Do I Hear a Waltz?'
  18. Look up Rosemary (and hundreds of others) in the Soap Hoppers thread.
  19. How did the Doug and Julie wedding fare in the ratings? Thought it would take the show to No 1 but that didn't seem to happen. Macdonald Carey had a pilot in contention for the 65/66 season. 'The Green Felt Jungle/The Silent Men co starred Richard Conte and was produced by Universal. When the fall schedule was announced , it was not picked up. so Carey was free to do Days. Had things worked out differently, there would have been another Tom Horton. I wonder who else they might have had in mind?
  20. The timeline here has always confused me. When did Claire die on ATWT? Did Barbara Berjer immediately go to GL as she was popular and they felt she would be an asset as Barbara and decided to drop Augusta? Augusta then went to A World Apart replacing Elizabeth Lawrence. What was the reason for that move?
  21. Or Keemo's child could have been brought up in the US if they don't want to have the foreign aspect. He/she might only discover Jack now and could be grateful or resentful about him depending on how they want to play it. Speaking of Jack, I wonder what the future is for the iconic Abbott set. Now that Jack is the only person living there full time and he is running low on story, how will they keep that set onscreen? It is the oldest standing set and quite large. Other sets like the Newman Ranch and Chancellor estate have been dropped or revamped (shrunken). Maybe it will be put into storage and Jack will become another character that drifts between Crimson Lights, Society and the Grey Pumpkin. Or we will suddenly see the Abbott study (stage left) a much smaller room.
  22. A True. All they would need is a wall and booth or seating, and background noise. That's what soaps did in the 60's and 70's and it worked OK.
  23. 'Always searching...never perching' That 2nd clip is a great visual record of NY at the time. Have to wonder how a porn star/singer landed a gig on a P&G soap? Joel, Dennis and Irving were all part of the cast at that time. Were there any other gay cast members at that time?
