  1. Pierre was basically Robert on Days and Pierre on Y&R. Bill Bell obviously loved Robert Clary and had him play the same character on each show.
  2. Very interesting discussion. It's fun to speculate on what Bill Bell's plans were for the show. It seems the Ridge/Caroline/Thorne/Brooke story was always going to be the main thrust and pretty much played out as planned. By his own admission,Bill didn't plan too far ahead in the sense that he waited to see what the actors brought to the role and how his ideas played out onscreen. I have a feeling that Eric/Beth/Stephanie was going to be more prominent but once he got into it he saw that was not the case. Hence the replacement of Judith Baldwin with Nancy Burnett. If she was replaced only because she was weak in the role then some of the younger cast should have been dropped also. As stated, having the Logans operate in a different sphere brought its own issues as there is just so much story you can tell in 30 mins. Bill was savvy enough to know that and was probably happy enough to let some characters slide into support roles with the possibility of more story down the line. Wish he had have spoken about this at some point. I recall with Y&R he talked about Chris and Snapper and how popular they were as actors and characters and yet he didn't know what to do with them after the first year.
  3. Really the kids should have had real ciggies and booze for authenticity. Maybe Serge was in tears cos he didn't want to be there.
  4. Y&R and B&B could share sets as they tape at the same facility. But I guess it's about space and money. B&B could have a great courtroom set but no space to have it up if Y&R needed it.
  5. It wouldn't surprise me if they decide to throw a 'celebrate Chance' party where everyone can talk about how wonderful he was/is - not totally acknowledging his death but holding on to hope. Hence the festive tone. Sounds like the kind of cornball thing Josh would plot. Perfect opportunity for Fr Devon to deliver one of his boring sermons. Why would Victoria be there? Why hold it at the Gruesome Photobooth?
  6. You must have missed the exciting scene with Lily where she agreed to write articles for Chance.Com. Which went nowhere...
  7. Have to agree but hair/makeup seems to be an issue with some of the other actresses as well. How is it working with Covid? is it a quick in and out?
  8. Interestingly Robert Milli was in the initial cast of One Life to Live and Love Is A Many Splendored Thing,in both shows playing a doctor named Jim in a budding relationship with a non Caucasian woman. in both cases the story was dropped. Milli was replaced on OLTL by Nat Polen an older actor, who was 55 in 1969. Milli was 10 years younger. Was this done to eradicate any notion that Carla had been involved with Jim, who now presented a more benign fatherly image?
  9. It was Dan Stewart who operated on Maria and was shot by her brother Joe.
  10. If the palazzo belongs to the Newmans, then why have the same suitcases been piled on a luggage rack in Victoria's room since she arrived? Surely the cases would be put away by staff? All that fuss over the wedding dress but not a mention of who chose Ashland's ugly velvet get up. Was the dress worthy of the praise heaped upon it? Not really. And then Victoria changed into another silky white dress for the reception. Surely choosing that dress would have been of almost as much importance as the bridal gown? After all the reception was where all the elite would be checking out the newlyweds... And really, Victoria declaring this was the happiest day of her life. Girl, maybe you should review the tapes of all your previous weddings-pretty sure you would have said the same thing then? Nick whining about his treatment from Victor is ridiculous - that man has been doing the same thing for years. How many times has Nick wanted to walk away from the family? Fake drama because they can't think of anything else for the character. And Josh Morrow's 'acting choices' seem all over the place. Not one mention by Jack to Leslie about Theo? It was great to have Janice back but she was just a glorified extra. How about a scene with Victor referencing Lorie? Any new viewer would have no idea that Leslie had a past connection. Maybe Leslie could talk to Tessa about their music and we could see a flashback of young, dowdy Les playing in the Brooks living room as she recalled her younger self .
  11. Interesting to see those actors that had multiple parts as judges and doctors etcon the same show. In a lot of cases they could have been the same character. I'm sure a judge in Salem would preside over many trials over the years.
  12. Who knows how this and other stories got through? First of all, we had Kay suddenly remember she had given up a child which went against all that had gone before. Then Jill finding out she was adopted, which again contradicted what we knew. Then the incredible coincidence they were mother and daughter. The whole concept should have been laughed out of the writers room. Jess and Jeanne hated the story,
  13. And that was it for recasts until Clayton Northcross was dropped.
  14. Billy shirtless....no thank you. The topic of men on the show made me realize that there are no males under 30 on the show apart from recent arrival Noah and Moses. Maybe change the title to (not so) Young and Restless.

  16. I don't know about quietly inspired, more like direct copy. I guess Bill Bell wanted to go with what had worked on early Y&R and maybe the chance to tell the story a little differently. Beth Logan was more glamorous than Liz Foster - more suited to LA , as a love interest to Eric and probably because the network wanted younger sexier 'old people' What do posters think of Judith Baldwin as Beth? How long did she last? Nancy Burnett was much less glamorous and the Eric/Beth story took aback seat. Were they originally hinted as getting back together? The rest of the Logans were a mish mash of other Y&R families. Storm was basically Snapper Foster. Katie was Traci Abbott. Brooke was Jill Foster with a touch of Chris Brooks. And Donna?
  17. Yes we discussed this previously. Having the Texas characters on AW meant that AW viewers that were interested in them might devote another hour to the new show, but if you didn't take to those characters no way would you follow them to Texas. Conversely if you decided to watch a new show and stories were already in progress it would be hard to get into it. It would have been better to have Iris on AW Monday and at the end leave for Texas and arriving in the first ep and the story going from there. The first few weeks should focus on one or two stories and a small group of characters and expand from there.
  18. Also, wasn't Ellen Barrett producer at that time? She was former EP of Ryan's Hope where Louise had worked. My guess is that Maree wanted to leave as Search was not the show it once was and she was ready for a change. Ellen was agreeable as she wanted to make changes. Louise may have been cheaper at that point also. Maree started in 73.
  19. Maybe just take a break. Often time away from a situation can be helpful and give a new perspective.
  20. Gordon Russell was going to be headwriter of General Hospital but became ill and died soon after.
  21. What did Nelson have to say?
  22. When Peter Hobbs departed the role of Peter Ames in Feb 62 after 8 years he took a full page ad in Variety with his name, a photo and the words 'At Liberty' and a phone number. Guess he wanted anyone who might be interested to know he was again available for work. According to IMDB he only had a couple of gigs in the following years but we know that can be unreliable.
  23. A Cole/Ashley/Victoria triangle. Marrying off Kyle and Summer and saddling them with Harrison was a mistake, especially when we didn't even see the wedding. Why not have them happy in Milan-not everyone needs to get married at the drop of a hat. Kyle is now on his third marriage in his 20's. As for Summer being recognized in the street..really??? Harrison should have been revealed to be neither Ashland or Kyle's. Tara had more mileage in the character-she should be the one out for revenge not Jesse Gaines or she could have hooked up with Jesse as she would have had knowledge of him- rather than Phyllis finding out about him in 5 mins on her laptop. The security at the Palazzo is worse than the Newman Ranch. And a few staff wandering around would have been nice. Lily deserves all that's coming to her - a romp in the sack with Billy seems to be her go to. And where were the kids??
