  1. The Daytime Emmys lost their pop culture relevance once Susan Lucci's streak was over. Remember that her win was the only time that a Daytime Emmy win got a People cover story.
  2. July 8 will be 30 years since Melrose Place premiered. I feel the same way about Melrose Place as I do about Beverly Hills 90210, no nostalgia for it and no longing to rewatch it. The first three seasons of Melrose Place were the best. I lost interest during the 4th season and never went back to it.
  3. @soapfan770 I don't remember the "Get it On" promos causing a stir. For whatever reason I don't find the promos from mid-1990s onward memorable in the way that "Feel the Heat" (1985) to "Try Me" (1992) were.
  4. Texas oil millionaire Blake Hayes was a 1980s holdover in 1991.
  5. ED and BM anniversary episode has me thinking about the intros of the Abbott sisters. Bill Bell didn't have them as heroine/vixen rivals in the vein of Leslie/Lorie or as educated professional/troublemaker in the vein of Casey/Nikki. Ashley initially came across as the confident goal-oriented sister while Traci was the shy insecure sister and both were likeable characters.
  6. Jess Walton's 35th anniversary is this month but I haven't seen anything online that mentions her getting a special episode.
  7. I didn't know where else to place this. Angela Lansbury to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 2022 Tonys | PEOPLE.com
  8. The full tracks of the best CBS summer promos for a refresher. 1985 1986 1987
  9. Imani is so thirsty for Nate.
  10. @ironlion Nikki the OG ho turned housewife is the last person that should be throwing accusations of gold digging. Christine has a successful career in her own right, she's not looking for a come up.
  11. Jenifer Lewis was so fierce in that opening.
  12. It's so odd that during 1987/88 CBS was killing it in daytime (Y&R tied General Hospital for #1) but was tanking in primetime (first of four consecutive 3rd place finishes).
  13. What about these promos? I tried to find summer 1987 promos that featured "Addicted to Love" but no luck.
  14. @Taoboi Were you loving it when thirsty Imani was shooting her shot at Nate?
  15. I just remembered that B&B reached a milestone in daytime drama history earlier this month. On Monday May 16, 2022, B&B moved past Another World to become the 9th longest running daytime drama on US network television. As of today, the 10 longest running daytime dramas on US network television are General Hospital, Guiding Light, Days, As the World Turns, Y&R, One Life to Live, All My Children, Search for Tomorrow (both CBS and NBC runs), B&B, Another World.
  16. Imani is so thirsty for Nate. She was totally shooting her shot at him. Which hookup will happen first, Ashland/Diane or Nate/Imani?
  17. Ashland and Diane are so gonna hook up, just watch.
  18. @Faulkner Diane deserved to be on the receiving end of a bitch slap though.
  19. That was the case even in the 1980s. Back then we didn't know exactly what Chancellor Industries, Prentiss Industries, and Newman Enterprises did.
  20. 1984 Y&R transition from the Brooks/Foster era to the Abbott/Newman era was complete and Y&R became Y&R as we know it today. 1992 for B&B due to the Y&R crossovers.
  21. @DramatistDreamer There was the Stephanie/Sally/Jack triangle and James having feelings for Stephanie but that was really it as far as a viable non-Eric love interest for Stephanie. I think Sally loved Clarke but he used her for his own agenda. Eric had three wives (Stephanie, Brooke, Sheila) and many love interests (Margo, Beth, Taylor, Lauren) but Bill only was ever paired with Margo and Darla. I don't think there was really any love between Bill and Margo, and the Bill/Darla pairing was more fun and games than actual love, at least from what I remember.
  22. Knots Landing was more of a community based series than a family/business conflict based series, so I found it was structurally closer to a daytime soap (P&G, not Bell) compared to Dallas and Falcon Crest. Here's how I break down the series: Seasons 1-3: Building the foundation. Seasons 4-6: The peak. Full-on primetime soap. Season 7 and 8: Tanking. Season 9: Signs of going off the rails are showing. Seasons 10-14: Off the rails plus budget mode.
  23. EB's got the social media game on lock: Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Cameo.
  24. Fingers crossed. I'm sure if Jerry Douglas was still with us, he'd be in the photo w/ ED, BM, PB, DD.
