@Paul Raven Sadly, I can see that scenario playing out.

ARTICLE: DOOLApp to Shutter with ‘Days of our Lives’ Digital Content Moving to YouTube
Could Days eventually dig into the vaults and upload the Bill Bell years on their YT channel? It would be interesting to see actors that were later on Y&R/B&B and spot any Bill Bell elements from Y&R/B&B on Days.

Bare Essence (1982-83)
Jealous scheming vixen sister of the kind-hearted heroine and they fight over a guy. Not that much different from Lorie Brooks.

YR February sweeps
We're 14 months away from the 50th anniversary and there's still nothing exciting happening to lead up to it. At least after the lull in the first half of 1997, the second half of that year built up to an excellent 25th anniversary in 1998.

Janet Jackson Appreciation Thread
Remember that Jackson family biopic from the 1990s? I don't think much of Janet's story was featured in it, that biopic seemed to focus more on the brothers.

Bare Essence (1982-83)
Agree, Jaime Lyn Bauer was made for primetime soaps. I'm actually surprised CBS didn't try to keep JLB in the family after she left Y&R and get her casted on one of their big three primetime soaps. Can we think of a role that she could've done well as?

Y&R January 2022 Discussion Thread
We hold Bill Bell to a higher standard, but even he had missteps: several stories during the 1980-1982 transition era, Cricket eating the show from summer 1986 to the end of 1989, Nick/Sharon eating the show from fall 1994 to spring 1996, the lull of fall 1996 through the first half of 1997. Since John Abbott was killed off, it's been one misstep after another.

Promised Land - New Midseason Drama
Grand Hotel with grapes. At least Grand Hotel had Miami heat (pun not intended), but I didn't get that from Promised Land.

Yes, once Bill Bell established Victor's back story of the orphanage and his becoming a self-made man. When mysterious wealthy businessman Victor was introduced as the show's new villain, he was initially drawn to Lorie, the vixen daughter of the main upper class family. I can't remember if Bill Bell ever explored that Victor's relationship failures might have been due to his not having his mother around for most of his childhood. Nikki was introduced as the troublemaking younger sister of the new doctor in town. That's how she ended up involved in a modeling agency that was a front for prostitution, joining a cult, and climbing the pole. Then came the My Fair Lady story with Victor and the rest is history.

Also both were part of the classic soap element sisters fighting over a guy. Brad E. was drawn to Leslie but pursued by Lorie. Brad C. married both Traci and Ashley. Bill Bell reused Lorie's parentage and Leslie's emotional breakdown for Ashley, and Peggy's involvement with her college professor for Traci. Let's break down Victor's love interests from 1980-1999, which ones would you classify as needy? The wives - Julia, Nikki, Leanna (not legal), Ashley, Hope, Diane The flings - Cassandra, Jill, Ramona The one that got away - Lorie The one that might have been but never was - Christine (yeah, I said it)

@soapfan770 How was Jill hooking up w/ Victor not Jill-like? Jill was Y&R's original social climbing vixen, always on the lookout for a come up. Remember a decade earlier she kicked Andy to the curb when John Abbott returned to Genoa City. If I remember 1992 storylines correctly, Jill was interested in Blade but he was drawn to Ashley. Not long after was the Victor/Jill hookup. Fall 1992 Victor was all alone. His marriage to Ashley had ended and Nikki decided to stay married to Jack. Jill was a diversion, I'd say, but no real love on his part.

This was when BD started to get OTT in her acting. I don't think EB took her seriously in that scene. OTOH I recently saw some summer 1989 scenes w/ EB and JW and it seemed Victor and Jill were intrigued by each other. I think those scenes planted the seed for the Victor/Jill hookup in the fall of 1992. Would Victor and Jill have worked as a 1990s business power couple?
