I would think Capitol was scoring better in the demos than Search for Tomorrow. Capitol served two purposes: CBS wanted something more glamorous to compete with ABC and it was a placeholder/time filler until Bill Bell had a second show ready. April 30, 1982 Y&R David Hasselhoff departure. We're about a year away from the start of supercouple Days and then there will be some signs of life for NBC.

Vixens played by actresses of color. At least Mishael Morgan got an Emmy out of her return as Amanda, and has moved on to bigger and better things. Even though her character wasn't a vixen, Sasha Calle has also moved on to bigger and better things.

Anna Stuart was temporary Vanessa when Maeve Kinkead was on pregnancy leave. There are some Fall 1981 episodes floating around where Maeve was filmed in a way to disguise pregnancy.

Capitol first week pretty much inheriting Search for Tomorrow CBS audience. P&G probably realized early on what a mistake it was angering CBS to the point that they dropped Search for Tomorrow since the move to NBC turned out to be an epic failure. It's so funny that Search for Tomorrow NBC run would end three months before Capitol ended.

@Soapsuds Capitol was a time filler/placeholder until Bill Bell had a second show ready.

Declining but Still Good Enough to Watch?
I still watch Y&R and will probably stay until the end, even though I consider 2006 onward to be not classic.

It's amazing that GL was able to hold its own against General Hospital when that show was at it's peak as a pop culture phenomenon. From what I've seen of the Allen Potter/Douglas Marland era, the main storylines that I'd say impacted GL right until the end were Roger's fall off the cliff in Santo Domingo, Alan/Hope marriage, intros of Chamberlain, Lewis, Reardon families.

Falcon Crest
Primetime soap reruns were probably more successful on cable. I didn't know Falcon Crest was rerun on Lifetime. Was it in the 1990s? The Soapnet reruns were early 2000s and AFAIK the whole series was not seen again until FreeVee last year.
