Whenever the Daytime Emmys are going to be held, the In Memoriam segment is going to hit hard.

@MichaelGL It's amazing that Potter/Marland GL is holding its own against massive hit/pop culture phenomenon General Hospital. OTOH Y&R is struggling against All My Children. NBC entire network was a mess in the early 1980s. As we all know, NBC would have some signs of life in daytime at the start of supercouple Days in 1983 and recover in primetime Fall 1984 with the premiere of The Cosby Show.

Larry Hagman segment starts at 14:32. CBS broadcast the 1989 Kennedy Center Honors on Friday December 29, 1989. It's quite fitting that Larry Hagman would make an appearance on a CBS special that was broadcast on the last Friday night of the 1980s.

CBS numbers are very up-and-down and it feels odd seeing Y&R out of the Top 5. 1980-1982 was Y&R's surviving era, with the one hour expansion, time slot changes, EP change, cast changes. As we all know, CBS rearranged the soap block on June 8, 1981. It'll be interesting to see how the ratings during the rest of 1980 and the first half of 1981 lead up to the schedule change.

That resulted in the LOL scene of Brock sneaking a bucket of fried chicken into the house.

I didn't know As the World Turns was exported to Italy. So that's the third country that I'm aware of that As the World Turns was broadcast in; Australia and Netherlands are the other two.

It was mostly the dialog that came across as very PSA.

I believe Jill was alone from when she got exposed by Katherine for seeing both Rex and John at the same time until she was interested in Blade but Blade was drawn to Ashley. In the interim Jill tried to get back with John, that was when she exposed Dina for lying about an illness when Dina was actually broke. Victor/Jill hookup they were both alone (Victor marriage to Ashley ended and Victor tried to reconcile with Nikki but Nikki decided to remain married to Jack as she was pregnant by Jack) and the seeds had been planted earlier (Summer 1989 episodes and in a 1991 episode we saw during the classics they appeared intrigued by each other) but for Victor it was a diversion yet Jill thought she would be the next Mrs. Newman. A Victor/Jill pairing would have been more 1990s business power couple than genuine love. Randy Brooks was gone in the early months of 1994. As we all know, Shemar Moore arrived that spring and when he blew up in popularity, Bill Bell lost interest in Nathan.

Two more CBS summer promo songs that I remember. 1986 1987 A Summer 1986 promo for all four soaps was online once but I can't find it anymore and I haven't been able to find any Summer 1987 promos.

April 23, 1979: Love of Life new time 4 pm ET, where it was isolated from the rest of the CBS soap block. That move screams tank job.

That's more a catchphrase. See also "I'll be damned". A Victor trademark is calling people he doesn't like/trust by their full name and its sounds like one word, ie. Jackabbott, Billyboyabbott, Dianejenkins, Tuckermccall.

In all the years I've watched daytime, Ronn Moss is probably the only actor who's acting got worse the longer he played his character.
