Late night and politics has been intertwined for eons. Even "safe" Johnny Carson would tell some political zingers. Hell, Bill Clinton and his saxophone cemented his campaign on late-night TV. So to claim that late night should not be about politics...well, then, late night would cease existence. The right may not like the Trump criticism, but it is NOT - as much as Trump wishes otherwise - illegal/un-Constitutional. On the other hand, the government via the FCC trying to silence dissent very much IS.

Robert Redford and Paul Newman in Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid sure brought the eye candy - and great chemistry together. I'd like to think they're on to more adventures together in the Afterlife, since they were true friends.

I was so happy to see Noah Wyle finally win Emmys for The Pitt after always losing his nominations when on ER. Not only did he win for lead actor but also got one as Executive Producer of The Pitt, which took Outstanding Drama Series. Additionally, congrats to Katherine LaNasa on her Supporting Actress win as charge nurse Dana Evans, and to Shawn Hatosy, who nabbed an Emmy for Guest Role in a Drama Series for his role as Dr. Jack Abbot. In terms of talk shows, congrats, Stephen Colbert! CBS may have caved to Mango Mussolini, but based on the standing ovation you got, many out there still root for you. So glad The Late Show With Stephen Colbert finally won! And Colbert gave a great speech, too.

The article's byline date - 9/18/85 - was my 13th birthday. LOL. God, I'm old. And yeah, The Golden Girls hit the ground running. If I recall, Coco the male housekeeper/cook in the pilot was supposed to recur or something, but that obviously didn't happen!

Not to bring anyone down, but the news articles also highlighting how Democratic registrations are dropping as Gen Z is gravitating to the GOP also doesn't give me much hope for the future. So, frankly, I just try to live in the moment. People - for all the bad polling - STILL seem to fall for GOP propaganda, so what can one do if folks CHOOSE to be deceived/ignorant, you know?

James Reilly's version of Days may have gotten some short-term big ratings, but IMO, it turned that soap's image into a never-ending joke, which took FOREVER to shed. (I say this because I think this year is the first in ages that I can recall Days getting multiple Emmy nominations. Yes, there are only three other soaps to compete with this year [as BTG is new and was not eligible!], but let's be real, the show has largely been shut out over the years, and I think the campy mess was a huge factor as to why.) The big ratings were more of a "car crash" mentality: People tuning in to see how ridiculous things could get, but then they got tired and moved on, and Days was left with the stigma of being a ridiculous clown show. It makes me almost grateful that NBC let Reilly create Passions, so that he eventually could not totally kill Days, keeping his focus elsewhere with his own show.

This is sort of ironic since, like Ronn Moss, the late Drake Hogestyn was often ragged on about his own acting skills or lack thereof. (But the man had heart and charisma. And really? I think there were worse actors...) And that John also had his wife die the same exact way as Ridge/Caroline described here: Isabella died in John's arms in Italy from pancreatic cancer after they shared a final dance to Bette Midler's "Glory of Love". Was it a "masterpiece"? Arguable. But I also think Drake did a great job selling John's heartbreak, too. (But how eerie and ironic that Drake passed from the same real disease that killed fictional Isabella.)

Yes, the new writers began in April, but they were apparently contractually obligated to use Carlivati's outlines until they ran out. The new writers could tweak details, but it was still Ron's stuff. Their material, I understand, is just beginning or will soon. Edit: But in some cases, I see no changes. I mean, Leo is still front and center...

The late, great Jerry Adler also had a memorable role as Judge Nathan Marks on Law & Order in the S7 episode, "I.D.". where he made demeaning comments toward ADA/second chair Jamie Ross (Carey Lowell], many of them bordering on sexual harassment. He really played a slimy judge drunk on his own power so well. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) also ended up in contempt. The equally-great and missed Steven Hill's DA Adam Schiff managed to get Marks thrown off the case.

Oh, I know they weren't around when Alan (fictionally) died in 2007. But when Stuart Damon passed, I just think TPTB could have written something like they did for Monica, something hospital related in Alan's honor, and used flashbacks, etc. But for whatever reason, Stuart's real death years after Alan seemed to be largely shoved under the carpet. Still, it has been better for others since, even if it seems like it will be happening far more frequently because of real life, sadly.

Yes, except...I don't recall poor Stuart Damon getting much of anything. But for the most part, you're right.

No, thanks. Just put Shawn/Jada back on screen, and let that play out. Shawn always seems like Belle's fallback, and IMO, Shawn deserves better than that. But I admit to bias because I don't like Belle much.

I gasped, seeing this. At least Tristan is not suffering. I will forever be glad that he got to reprise Robert Scorpio and work with Finola Hughes and Kimberly McCullough again. May he rest in peace. The cast of GH has had far too many losses lately.
