She doesn’t which is unfortunate. Back during AD’s 96-01 run as Diane she at least made friends with Michael (to Sandra Nelson’s Phyllis jealousy!), her assistant Marissa Barton (played by MAB’s sister) and Brad, while it was during Susan’s first run she reconnected with Michael and Marissa and also made friends with Isabella. At the time when Imani was still on the show I figured her and Diane becoming friends would be an excellent counter balance to Phyllis and Amanda lol. And I always liked SW and AL scenes I would have enjoyed Diane becoming like a second mother to AL’s Summer just to make MS Phyllis head explode lol. Josh Griffith has an aversion to drama LMAO. Any other soap writer would have capitalized on AL’s Summer and ZS’s Audra having a nasty feud yet for some reason JG didn’t even touch it.

Wow!! I was a bit surprised/confused when she appeared in today’s episode. I also forgot Mariah worked at Jabot as we hadn’t seen here there in forever…..Diane seemed a bit sad Mariah left. I hate that kind of stuff because we’ve never really seen Diane and Mariah interact much before. A shame because I had wanted Diane to make friends with other outsiders back in 2022 with characters like Mariah, Imani etc.

There has been a lot of whiplash trying to watch lately with a few of these storylines, and I’ve gotten confused myself over a few things especially of the back and forth between Kyle, Tucker, Audra, Billy etc. Speaking of Billy I also felt like I missed something with him now working at Chancellor-Winters. I mean I know Jill asked him to come but I didn’t realize he’s already there and now suddenly beefing with Devon. Did I miss something again? Sharon’s launch party was decent, and I see CG is already back from maternity leave or filmed this before leaving…? Sally back with Adam…it gives me heartburn to think about all that character went through only for it to come back full circle…what the hell was the point Josh Griffith? Phyllis/Summer and Phyllis/Christine scenes make me smile as both one upped Phyllis today. Look at Chelsea making her monthly appearance to remind us she’s still exists and hasn’t gone the way of Elena yet 🤣🤣🤣

You’re welcome!! Had to do some digging on that one but I knew Hollen came back as Patricia for sure in ‘94. I want to say she also made some appearances in ‘95 as well dealing with Kingsley-Marta business in the aftermath of Eduardo’s death but I’m not also not entirely certain about that for sure. I wonder if anyone at P&G approached her to return to GL as Trish during this period.

Round one of 1+ for everyone!! @Jeff I had actually FF’d through those scenes on Friday so yes who does bring a stapler to the hospital in a purse no less. And yes I could so see Eric mentioning Taylor was back in Paris and sent him a golden stapler she picked up in her travels. Then when Eric dies for real his final word is “Bostitch”© to everyone’s puzzlement until Brooke points out that’s who manufactured his favorite stapler. 🤣😂 Onto Monday 1/15’s show, so that’s it with the Emma revisited plot? Finn agrees to drop it and Hope believes Thomas? Obviously two weeks worth of this show were wasted on a DOA plot point, and I couldn’t even with Hope’s “Emma was my friend…” when I don’t think the two shared a single scene together. At least Finn and Steffy got some sweet talk scenes in the end of the show.

Andy was injured but he saved her. I vaguely recall there was some discussion that more Kingsleys were going to be introduced but Patricia was the only one who made on screen. Patricia didn’t die either she would leave London to go back to Rome and would reappear on the show in late summer 1994. The car explosion happened sooner that Labor Day. Based on an 8/15/93 newspaper soap recap I found it seems the the explosion happened 8/13/93 or thereabouts.

Thanks @dc11786 I definitely remember one of the Garden of Eden murders occurring at a gothic looking country club set (the escort was on a date with Alan). Not to mention they wasted Colleen Dion for the opening murder 🙄 I remember Daniel Beddingfield being on GL as that song was used in overkill for CBS “Hot Enough for You” campaign for the summer of 2003, including a promo of Amber dangling Little Eric off a cliff.

Did Conboy really give Teresa Hill’s Eden that big old set like he built a baseball field for Shayne? I don’t remember Deborah Zoe’s Eden ever doing anything aside from her and Tony getting a creepy call from some in a mask who was supposedly Jeffrey but that’s all I remember, mainly because I HATED what the show became in early 2004.

Fair assessments Carl I like this. I had really enjoyed the whole Bridget/Dylan/Julie/Hart quad story especially as it came to a head there in the summer of ‘93 myself so that’s my fondest memories of Stabb plus I liked the edge he brought with his Hart, especially knowing about Roger swindling the Jessup farm. I admit at the time I like Grillo and Wright together but his Hart that point definitely was so disconnected from Phillips and Staab’s Hart that when Hart went to town on Ross for shooting Blake and asked Ross “What did you to my sister?!” I literally had to stop for a moment and think “oh yeah that’s right”.

Leonard was my favorite Hart and I feel like if hadn’t had the accident Hart would have never left town again. Phillips always came off as a bit generic/nondescript for me, and years later my opinion of Phillips was sullied even further with him being a complete miscast recast as Matthew on AW. It’s been some time since I’ve stuff with Hilliard as Hart but at the time I found him forgettable trapped in that horrible story with Roger and Dinah. For better or worse Grillo did at least leave an impression for myself. I actually did like Hillard’s Hart with Bridget.

R.I.P.: Bill Hayes Has Died
Wow this is devastating to hear I choked up when I read the headline. My heart breaks so much for Susan right now as well. Another daytime legend gone and another iconic Days figure gone 😥😔😞

Y&R: Former Port Charles actor joins the show
LOL! Actually his first couple days weren’t too bad, I almost didn’t recognize him at first and he did believable as a working class character. Hopefully we don’t have to relive the painful memories of Cousin Ozzy or BJ Green 🙏

The last time I remember seeing Doris honestly was back in 2011 was during the midst of the Volcano death story when Doris berated Sharon right before Sharon faked her deathand then at Sharon’s funeral….did they ever show Doris finding out Sharon was alive or have a reunion? I don’t recall so unless I missed it. Of course there was so much whiplash towards the end of that story@YRfan23 As for this week so far… Re: Tucker and Ashley having different memories….Lord Tucker’s version was unintentionally comical and felt like a cartoon villain trying to spin things. Obviously it was classic justification in the case of an abuser and gaslighter….but if his version is the correct one then Josh Griffith needs to be hauled back his therapist again. Chance/Summer was cute. Remember Chance is Nina’s modest son and not one to throw his Chancellor name around. Ashley and Cole were a pleasant surprise down memory lane. I think those flashbacks were after Ashley and Victoria’s epic fight at the Embers over Cole one last time. That’s the biggest shame of not having HT for this for the flashbacks. Actually AH Victoria and Peck, now that he’s found his rhythm aren’t bad at all. I had wanted Cole back at least a decade ago for the 40th anniversary. I think on paper the Claire scenes in the mental hospital work on paper but as @slick jones pointed out in another thread, I feel like HE comes across as so generic and blank faced. I don’t know who owed HE a favor but it’s becoming obvious a stronger actress was needed. Drunk Nikki is always classic. I actually liked Brian Gaskill’s Seth from what I saw the other day. Definitely something different. We’ll see where this goes from here. And one last thing, I loved how we saw ZS Audra turn full blown Latina diva in her scenes with her telling off Kyle and Tucker. I’d love to see an origin story one day.

ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of January 1-5, 2024
Absolute trash obviously 🤣 The last time flipped by the Talk I didn’t even recognize any of its hosts sans Jerry O’Connell and poor Natalie Morales, as I didn’t realize her career had sunken that low.

IMO Morgan and Pilgrim, while nice people, just don’t have the chemistry or energy that their predecessors Strahan, Sara, TJ, and Amy had. I forget The Talk even exists anymore tbh lol.

Y&R: Old Articles
I noticed that during the early years of Sally circa 1988-91 Sally did seem a more serious threat and felt like a semi-crime boss running Spectra Fashions, but eventually a lot more endearment and humor was added to the Spectra mix. Darlene did fantastic in both roles, playing nasty and scary Rose while playing larger than life and lovable Sally. @YRfan23 Don’t forget Sally once spooked the living daylights out of Sheila when Sally issued a death threat. 😊

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I’ll always remember on the old WOST website watching Rita in the hall of mirrors running from Roger as Enough is Enough blared only for it to awkwardly divulge into the 1975-81 theme. As far “Ritournelle” goes this is what I have saved in my deep in my notes I saved in my Archive: @DRW50@Vee@BetterForgotten The premiere of The Young and the Restless in 1973 and the popularity of its theme music resulted in a daytime revolution. Several soaps changed their openings between the Fall of 1973 and the summer of 1976 in an attempt to incorporate easy listening pop ballad theme songs. The Guiding Light was no exception. On November 5, 1975, a new theme song by Charles (or Dina) Paul debuted. The theme was titled "Ritournelle," which is French for "harping on the same tune," and the original version had a wordless vocal chant by a female voice over a repeated harp figure. The accompanying visual was a shot of sunlit flowers and tree branches and the words "GUIDING LIGHT" set in modern Helvetica Bold type and positioned in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. By the beginning of 1977, the female voice chant was replaced by a high semi-muted violin rendition of the theme melody. This beautiful "harp and strings" rendition of "Ritournelle" would run until the end of 1981. From 1976 to 1980, the end credits ran over a shot of the sunlit flowers and leaves from the opening. The 1980/81 season closing sequences featured a shot of an Emmy statuette slowly revolving on a turntable against a black background. The end credits were set in Helvetica Bold with the credit in gold and the name of the cast member/production staffer in white. By the late 1970s, GL's long crawl cast list would always begin with senior cast member Charita Bauer (Bert), usually followed by Millette Alexander (Sara) and Don Stewart (Mike) in precisely that order. Also, I get the impression that before 1982 the rest of the GL cast was billed in order of seniority.

I miss GT as Phyllis so much, I do wonder how she would have done with the Diane return stuff and the current stuff with Danny & Co. Kyle/Abby interfering in Chance and Abby would be dumb lol. For starters Kyle is now Audra’s bitch and Abby probably doesn’t know Chance and Summer are an item. Re: Nick and Sharon are wayyy past overdue to get back together. Since Rey’s death it was obvious that they should have rekindled things in time for the 50th, but instead Sharon did nothing while Nick had the insipid triangle with Adam and Sally that resulted in pointlessly tormenting Sally’s character and now that Sally is back with Adam, what the hell was the point of all that? Josh Griffith SUCKS. @Khan LMAO!!!! I needed the laugh 🤣🤣🤣

Indeed. The Finn/Hope stuff goes back a couple months just before Steffy returned we had Finn and Hope talking to each other for like a week lol. I don’t mind Finn being the show’s hero but we don’t any type of pairing with Hope. Yikes! I suppose Finn could tell Little Puke but let’s face it Little Puke deserves NOTHING lol.
