Falcon Crest
Bummer, glad we got to enjoy it while it lasted. Maybe it'll end up on Tubi or something? I'd hate for the series to sit in the dustbin for 17 years again. Or at the very least, maybe finally get a complete series DVD?

ARTICLE: ‘CBS Mornings’ Tops ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘TODAY’ Among Total Viewers
Sounds like the “Curse of Captain Kangaroo” was finally broken 😂 But good for Gayle & Co. as I know they’ve been working hard for a win for years now.

Y&R: February 2024 Discussion Thread
I vividly remember commenting on this a few years back after seeing it in the closing credits as such after Morina/Griffith took over, actually I think it changed back under Sussman and Mal now that I think about it. Honestly Jill Foster Abbott is how she should be styled, the marriage to Colin was probably illegal to begin with knowing Colin’s con jobs and as for Fenmore other than I think a minor scene last year Lauren and Jill haven’t mentioned their sisters for several years. UGH. Don’t even get started on the utter ridiculous and nonsense of Friday’s episode. It’s actually so disappointing, disheartening, and pathetic to see how bad the two Bell soaps have become in 2024. Here in this “February Sleeps” month as @Taoboi would say we see Y&R committing the sin of absolute boredom as the show quietly plummets into oblivion while a B&B on hospice care inspires nothing but righteous indignation, disgust, and bitter disappointment. Both shows contracts end in September of this year with no renewal news yet.

B&B: February 2024 Discussion Thread
My perspective on this is that other than Monday I chose not to watch the rest of the week because I didn’t want to watch this drivel crammed down our throats all week long and have characters destroyed. I may pick it up next week based on spoilers but I also don’t want to see ever again on the show. Can Thudley be fired from his own show?

Young & Restless- January 2024 Episode Rankings
So true and I agree with you both. Also worth mentioning that Imani was dropped as well and Audra was simply given Imani’s story instead (with the silly background with Noah thrown in). I adore ZS as Audra but I do wish the show had at least kept Imani as well as I thought even the recast was good, but of course I will never understand Josh Griffith’s thought processes.

ALL: Characters who shouldn't have died.
Thank you!!!!! I’m extremely embarrassed and ashamed to admit I didn’t mention Dru when I made my original post 🙈🥴😵💫 Cassie’s death was just a failed ratings/Emmy ploy and Diane’s murder was just a messy affair. I hate the “I forgot I had twins” cliche was used for both Mariah and Amanda when it would have been better if Cassie and Hilary were still alive, no matter the ridiculous circumstances presented lol. Given so many of the writers and producers responsible are now either dead (Hogan, Rauch) or riddled with poor health (MAB, Smith, Pratt, Latham) makes me wonder if Bell cursed everyone from beyond the grave.

Young & Restless- January 2024 Episode Rankings
I still find it odd the show unceremoniously decided a bit odd that the show just let Elena fall through the cracks right as she was on the verge of a new story with her bringing JT to town that just got dropped like a hot potato. Elena maybe unlikeable, but she was the catalyst for the Nate/Devon rivalry, yet is now MIA, and the show has no female AA characters on right now which is shameful.

ALL: Characters who shouldn't have died.
Hmm, ho boy where to begin on this?!? Let me start with: ATWT: Jennifer Munson, Damian, Shannon, and perhaps Chuckie Shea AW: Any Matthews family member that was shamelessly killed off, Ryan, Frankie B&B: Any Spectra family member that was shamelessly killed off Days: I know nobody stays dead lol but I’ll go with Nick Fallon, Laura, and Abby’s latest death GL: Maureen wins the thread, but also Nadine, Jenna, and Ben Reade Y&R: Brad, Colleen, Hilary, Hope, and Robert Carlton As far as primetime soaps go…. OG Dynasty: Claudia Dallas: Kristen FC: Melissa, Maggie, and Lorraine Knots: Ciji, Linda Melrose: Sydney, Matt DH: Edie Revenge: Daniel Dynasty 2.0: I feel they should’ve just kept their version of Anders alive to the end

Y&R and B&B: Feb,March,April,May 2024 soccer preemptions- western USA
Thanks @janea4old for the heads up on this again. I’m actually surprised CBS is airing this again on the main network as I remember it was either last year or the year before reading the ratings for some of these games ended being much, much lower than expected.

B&B: February 2024 Discussion Thread
LOL you know compared to everything boring that’s going on right now that actually would be funny and entertaining! Wayyy back in 2016 when Quinn and Eric started their affair I could have sworn McCook was over 80 back then lol yet he doesn’t til turn 80 til this summer. JG was such a vibrant actress on Y&R looking back it’s really dumb her Donna got stuck in some really dumb rivalry with Pam over Honey Bear to the point both Pam and Donna appeared as contestants on TPIR. And I wish he past history with Justin and Marcus would be actually brought up I hated how the disposed of Justin so easily a few years back in that silly Bill/Liam in prison story.

Y&R: February 2024 Discussion Thread
Probably the most concerning thing for myself is in addition that news about the declining viewers/aging and dying viewers is that both Y&R/B&B are up for renewal at the end of this season this year. An article like the Deadline one definitely gives me a sinking feeling about both show’s imminent future. if I have nothing but disdain for Josh Griffith and Thudley at the moment, I’d hate to lose both shows.

ALL: Errors, Myths, Omissions & Firsts that weren't
If I recall right from an interview JER gave to his buddy Michael Logan at TV Guide at the time, the original plot was supposed to involve witchcraft and Stefano and planned a early 2005 reveal, but he didn't elaborate further than that.

ALL: Epic Soap Opera Fails
The Y&R/ATWT crossovers done in 2005 and 2007 were even worse. Emily and Alison becoming happy hookers and friends with Amber (!) while Daniel Romalotti enjoyed the two as part of his porn addiction storyline. Yikes!

ALL: Errors, Myths, Omissions & Firsts that weren't
The infamous exaggeration that GL went to #1 in 1984 for three weeks. I clearly remember SOD stating that "fact" when doing an in-depth profile on GL in like '97 or '98, and I think it was either Schemering or Waggert (or both) who also wrote about that "fact". What it was as we discovered (and please correct me if I wrong) was GL was simply #1 in its timeslot, not the number one soap in ratings as a whole (Y&R was). Y&R: When Carl Williams returned in 1998, I remember there was a number of fans online at the time who claimed they remembered they story of Carl going missing and Paul looking for him. Of course that never happened and with the Carl story being a rare retcon for Y&R at the time, I believed those folks until I later learned otherwise. I have to believe those folks were confused or suffering from the Mandela effect. Likewise, there is a myth after Nick Reed died Jill hired a Nick look-a-like named Joseph Thomas played by Quinn Redeker to scare Casey and Nikki, but such a story never appears in any synopses from the time period and it was discovered Redeker as Joseph Thomas had been on wayyy earlier. (Again correct me if I'm wrong).

Tank Jobs and Sabotage
Thank you guys for clearing up what happened to RipTide and Crazy Like a Fox. I clearly remember my dad watching both of those shows. It did look like NBC trying to a Friday night action line-up on Friday nights in the 1985-86 season with Riptide, Knight Rider, and Miami Vice on the line-up. Other than Miami Vice's flash in the pan season we discussed in the 80s ratings thread, it clearly didn't work. Both Yes Dear and Rules, (and King of Queens) were shows I found dumb but watched them anyways as my partner at the time watched lol and I use them for background noise in the evenings while I was on the computer. Rules' timeslot changes were baffling at times; at one point CBS was advertising and airing new episodes on Saturday nights(!) for a brief period in 2011 before going back to its old timeslot, so someone was clearly trying it get rid of it. Re: WKRP. I loved that show in reruns I didn't realize it had so many scheduling problems, that's unfortunate. I'm probably one of few people to freely I also watched all of the New WKRP as well 😅. My local Fox station carried it early Saturday evenings right after a WKRP rerun. Another tank job I can think of is CBS and Picket Fences. This one puzzles me a bit as CBS didn't seem to consider moving the show to to attract better ratings with light of its Emmy wins and widespread acclaim during its first three seasons. Then came Season 4, CBS moved Picket Fences up an hour to 9:00ET/8:00CT to make room for the new show American Gothic, and the show's ratings outright plummeted to the bottom depths of the Nielsens as it was now competing directly with The X-Files and had the weakest of weak lead-ins with the failed Due South. The show was promptly cancelled along with Due South and American Gothic.

Tank Jobs and Sabotage
Another 90s one that came to mind was moving Northern Exposure from Monday nights to Wednesday nights for its final season. Definitely a tank job there. @kalbir What exactly happened to NBC’s hit Riptide in the mid-80’s?
