  1. I can't believe we're still banning books in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-two.
  2. I could be wrong, but I have the very distinct feeling that Heather was intended to be Diana's killer all along and that Alice's confession to it was a rewrite in order to keep Robin Mattson on the show.
  3. Justice would be if Peter were gunned down in a parking lot.
  4. Yes, it's true. One of MSW's writer/producers was a murderer. http://classictvhistory.com/MiscArticles/laurence_heath.html
  5. Agree. KNOTS was no stranger to murder, but Linda's murder was by far the most graphic. You could tell in that moment that the show was no longer being written or produced by people who understood the show they were working on.
  6. Well, when you put it that way, lol. Just imagine, for the moment, Jessica popping up and solving mysteries on various CBS shows. Heck, she could have even put in an appearance as one of Murphy Brown's short-lived secretaries, lol!
  7. Holly could have coped with Ross sleeping with another woman, but her own daughter? I think that was the part that pierced her to her core. Meanwhile, JvD never looked yummier.
  8. I don't think I'll ever forget the sight of poor Maggie Horton on DAYS after she'd been bludgeoned to "death" (with a brandy bottle!) by the Salem Stalker. This one's harrowing for two reasons: one, because of how the audience learns of Ciji Dunne's fate; and two, because Kim Lankford's vocal performance is Just. That. Bad.
  9. Remember, folks: Corinne had an awfully fast pregnancy on SOAP, too; and that's because her and Tim's baby was possessed by the devil. (But my money's still on the aliens taking it first!)
  10. IIRC, there were also plans for an MSW/"Simon & Simon" crossover, but those never came to fruition. Truthfully, I haven't seen the "Magnum" episode w/ Angela Lansbury, because "Magnum" just isn't my kind of show. But I have seen the MSW one w/ Tom Selleck and I thought it was well-done.
  11. In 1939, Columbia cast a young William Holden to play the lead role (opposite Lee J. Cobb, Adolphe Menjou and Barbara Stanwyck) in their adaptation of Clifford Odets' play, "Golden Boy." As violinist-turned-prizefighter Joe Bonaparte, Holden was so green, the studio considered replacing him with another actor. Stanwyck, however, intervened, working with Holden to bring up his performance to a satisfactory level. Perhaps, instead of "hedging" her performance and complaining publicly about Martinez's, BE should have worked with him the way Stanwyck worked with Holden. As always, I'm just saying. Whoda thunk that Brittany, brought on board to be a spoiler in Catlin and Sally's romance, would end up with Catlin in the end, while Sally's body lay a-moulderin' in the grave?
  12. Erika Slezak (ex-Viki, OLTL) as Dr. Laura Horton (DAYS). Michael E. Knight (ex-Tad, AMC; Martin, GH) as Dr. Mike Horton (also DAYS). Dame Joan Collins (ex-Alexis, DYNASTY) as Vanessa Bennett (AMC).
  13. If KKL were to leave B&B, Bradley Bell wouldn't recast Brooke. He'd just set fire to the sets.
  14. Agree. BE should have been smart enough to see that, too. If you know your character has not been received all that warmly by the audience -- and she had to have known, unless she's just that clueless -- the last thing you wanna do is potentially alienate those who HAVE warmed up to your co-star. If anything, you pull a William deVry and push the hell out of your pairing to the press and everyone else. And as for not being able to do Shakespeare with an untrained actor...? Girl, I'd hardly call what Chuck Pratt was writing as being like Shakespeare. For some reason, this sentence cracks me up. Like, I could see his Tim literally pull off his shirt and the all the women on the show give a collective "Meh" before returning to their respective conversations.
  15. Well, that goes without saying, lol. Nevertheless.
  16. Even abbreviated, 15-30 minute episodes would be better than an extended preemption.
  17. Not if the plan was to have Patty come back as a total loon. BE as "Patty Jane" would have made Cady McClain's performance as unspooled Kelly look like a masterclass in acting.
  18. Tinker men don't look good with facial hair. I'm just saying.
  19. When we talk about "plot-driven" over "character-driven," folks, this is what we mean. Because, there is really no reason why Craig and Leo should be dating except that they're both gay and Ron Carlivati gets the giggles just thinking about it.
  20. Reading these ratings reports are conjuring up so many cherished childhood memories. So many shows that I remember loving BITD.
  21. Still, even on Sunday nights, and following an older-skewing show like "60 Minutes," there were no guarantees that audiences would have wanted to tune into a "cozy" mystery series -- remember, we're talking about the era of "Magnum, P.I." and "The A-Team" -- and one starring someone who had no cache beyond Broadway and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks." Everyone at CBS flipped for it, but would the rest of America feel the same way? It was probably a relief, then, when they found out that the rest of America did. I guess that (promos designed to make the show look more action-oriented) was to be expected. After all, CBS had to hook the younger audiences somehow. But, man, imagine how disappointed some must've felt to tune into the actual show after seeing one of THOSE commercials, lol. It still burns me up how the network (and specifically Les Moonves) wouldn't allow Angela Lansbury to end the series on her terms. I mean, MSW (and "60 Minutes") essentially pulled the rest of the network through some very dark times in the '80's and '90's, and that's the thanks she gets? A move to a Thursday night time slot she didn't have a chance of succeeding in? If a show like MSW no longer fits within your long-range plans for your network, fine. Sit down with all parties and work out the best way to close out the show with some dignity. Tell 'em they have one more year and then advertise the hell out of it so the show can go out on top. But to relegate it to a different night after America has spent over a decade making it a go-to destination for Sunday nights.... MSW wasn't just cancelled. It was murdered.
  22. Who else was on MSW's don't-hire list? I'm sure Betsy Russell was added after "Menace, Anyone?," lol.
  23. I wonder why Valerie Bertinelli or her "One Day at a Time" co-star, Bonnie Franklin, never made a guest appearance on MSW. Everyone else from that cast did.
  24. Worse, he still seemed to have a thing for Sammy Ho, which made him look stupid AND confused.
  25. Yup, I think so. Corley, who had once worked as a doorman at Studio 54, had no issue(s) with portraying a gay man. But, like I said, the network became skittish; and the next thing anyone knew, Steven was involved with Claudia AND Sammy Jo.
