Days of Our Lives: April 2022 Discussion Thread
If Clyde ends up back in prison, then he, TR and Orpheus can form some sort of prison acapella group.

Y&R May 2022 Discussion Thread
Chances are, it's all gonna end with Diane leaving town again, happy to see Jack and Kyle back together, and even hugging Phyllis on her way out.

All: character may be killed off
Agree. I'm with @Wendy. If they can't find an actor who will commit long-term to playing Abigail, then just rest the character for the time being. This isn't an Abby (Y&R) situation, where I don't think any amount of recasts or changes in purpose will help what I believe to be a dead-end character. I think there's still life in Abigail Deveraux; they just need to wait until they find the right girl. We can only hope.

GH: Meet Dex
Oh, good. I was worried that the GH cast was becoming too small.

The Politics Thread
That's exactly what I think as well, @Wendy. Cawthorn's (or anyone's) sexuality is none of our business. Yet, because the GOP has become more homophobic than ever, I feel like...well, I don't know what I feel like, lol. Maybe someone should simply point out the hypocrisy, if nothing else, of a card-carrying member of the Republican party apparently engaging in the sort of behavior they are working feverishly to criminalize and demonize. The thought crossed my mind as well, @DRW50. When you step back and look at the timing of these events, including the fact that 1) his marriage didn't last very long and 2) these revelations are coming on the heels of Cawthorn's latest comments about GOP'ers basically behaving like Studio 54 regulars BTS, you have to wonder whether Chad Hitler has been hiding something this whole time. If Cawthorn comes out of the closet, I'll respond to him the way I responded when Aaron Schock came out: good for you, but don't think for one minute that will let you off the hook for how you tried to destroy this country.

So...is he gay (or bisexual)?

I'm not clear about that either. Was she jealous of Julie's beauty and youth? Did she harbor a secret desire to be with Doug? Did Julie remind her of her recently deceased mother? Elizabeth Harrower seemed to be trying so hard to convince viewers that Laura was unstable that she got forgot that her motivations, however irrational they were, still needed to make some sense. Perhaps, Laura had developed a sudden, irrational hatred of all the Hortons, borne out of her rape and being forced to conceal Michael's true paternity for years, and wrecking Julie's life was just one part of her overall agenda. Still, I think the audience deserved a better explanation than "Well, she's nuts!". Of course, I'm still not sure what was wrong with Laura, exactly, or why it took so long for her illness to manifest itself. I mean, was she schizophrenic, or bipolar, or...what? (By the way, I really hope Ron Carlivati isn't reading this thread. You KNOW reading about Jennifer once being abandoned on a bus by her mentally ill mother is gonna lead him to create a split personality for Miss Chick-Fil-A.)

Y&R April 2022 Discussion Thread
Unless...the "sudden heart attack" was the result of a drug that Ashland administered to Rey (and perhaps had planned to administer to Victoria) minutes after the crash. Do another autopsy, I say. Check for the needle mark. If only Josh Griffith had somehow tied all three stories together. Like, for example, Diane comes back into town RIGHT at the moment of the crash (and witnesses Ashland kill Rey and arrange it to look as if Victoria was responsible).

The Spin Off Thread
The weirdest part of NCIS's success, I think, is that it has managed to remain a ratings draw despite so many changes to its' cast. In fact, I think the only current cast members who have been with the show from the beginning are Sean Murray and David McCallum - and even Murray was only recurring in S1.

In-person Daytime Emmys set for June 24 on CBS/Paramount+
From the way that article reads (to me), I feel like we're one step closer either to the primetime and daytime Emmys merging into one ceremony, or to the daytime Emmys being eliminated altogether.

Like you said, if they had just talked honestly to each other, the story would have been over and done with. That's what I miss about Claire Labine's work. For the most part, she seemed to write her characters to the top of their intelligence, so that you didn't have the usual, silly miscommunications or misunderstandings that would separate characters artificially and leave the audience exasperated at the end. The way Elizabeth Harrower seemed to have Laura going off the old rails, I'm surprised Laura didn't steal them from the medicine cabinet and then casually place them at Julie's bedside.

Falcon Crest
The fact that those four, very different actors were all up for the same role proves this show never had a clear vision for Vickie. And Michael O'Leary as Cole? I love MOL, but thank God that never came to pass, lol.

I wonder that myself. CB certainly would have fitted in with the rest of the ATWT cast, I think. I don't think Jeanne Cooper would have allowed either of her sons to look down their noses at soaps, being that she was always a staunch defender of the industry and the people who worked in it. But I do think CB chose to strike while the proverbial iron was hot. It's rare for an actor of that age to want to work JUST in daytime. I mean, even Susan Lucci had to spread her wings for a moment in the '80's and '90's, doing TV movies and miniseries, and appearing in guest spots on various primetime shows. So, I can't really blame CB for moving on rather quickly after RH and ATWT. But I am glad he was willing to return - first, to GH; then, to Y&R - when I don't think he really had to, or needed to. Agree. I mean, think about the bookstore/coffeehouse trend that took off in the '90's. ATWT would have been so on top of that, lol.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Then, if that weren't bad enough, some fans got together and sent incoming EP John Conboy flowers, and that was what convinced him to bring back Bradley Cole as Jeffrey after we were finally rid of him. I think it was around that time, or maybe a little before, when I started to appreciate Y&R more, because they seemed to be the very last soap not to cave into fanbases. Of course, I should've known that they, too, would eventually be corrupted in that way.
