  1. From the way that article reads (to me), I feel like we're one step closer either to the primetime and daytime Emmys merging into one ceremony, or to the daytime Emmys being eliminated altogether.
  2. Like you said, if they had just talked honestly to each other, the story would have been over and done with. That's what I miss about Claire Labine's work. For the most part, she seemed to write her characters to the top of their intelligence, so that you didn't have the usual, silly miscommunications or misunderstandings that would separate characters artificially and leave the audience exasperated at the end. The way Elizabeth Harrower seemed to have Laura going off the old rails, I'm surprised Laura didn't steal them from the medicine cabinet and then casually place them at Julie's bedside.
  3. IDK why, but I suddenly see both Conboy and Weston jumping into mosh pits and being carried on their backs by BC fans, lol.
  4. Damn, Laura. Why don't you just open the window and say to Julie, "You know what to do!"?
  5. The fact that those four, very different actors were all up for the same role proves this show never had a clear vision for Vickie. And Michael O'Leary as Cole? I love MOL, but thank God that never came to pass, lol.
  6. I wonder that myself. CB certainly would have fitted in with the rest of the ATWT cast, I think. I don't think Jeanne Cooper would have allowed either of her sons to look down their noses at soaps, being that she was always a staunch defender of the industry and the people who worked in it. But I do think CB chose to strike while the proverbial iron was hot. It's rare for an actor of that age to want to work JUST in daytime. I mean, even Susan Lucci had to spread her wings for a moment in the '80's and '90's, doing TV movies and miniseries, and appearing in guest spots on various primetime shows. So, I can't really blame CB for moving on rather quickly after RH and ATWT. But I am glad he was willing to return - first, to GH; then, to Y&R - when I don't think he really had to, or needed to. Agree. I mean, think about the bookstore/coffeehouse trend that took off in the '90's. ATWT would have been so on top of that, lol.
  7. Then, if that weren't bad enough, some fans got together and sent incoming EP John Conboy flowers, and that was what convinced him to bring back Bradley Cole as Jeffrey after we were finally rid of him. I think it was around that time, or maybe a little before, when I started to appreciate Y&R more, because they seemed to be the very last soap not to cave into fanbases. Of course, I should've known that they, too, would eventually be corrupted in that way.
  8. Good for them, lol. They, too, seemed to have forgotten that "free speech" does not mean allowing people to spread hate and misinformation that could potentially kill people.
  9. If only Ron Carlivati had just been clear from the beginning what the devil's motives were in returning to Salem. I mean, the guy who plays "Mayhem" in those auto insurance commercials has caused more mayhem than the devil has in this story. Maybe the devil should have inhabited Allie all along (although, I still think Belle or "Father Eric" would have been a more logical choice). And I can see where Ron is coming from in taking that left turn with Doug, but didn't they say right before the story began that Doug couldn't be somewhere because he'd torn his rotator cuff playing tennis or something? And we were all like, "He's HOW old and he's still playing tennis?". It's a little strange to go from that to "Doug might be suffering from Alzheimer's."
  10. TBH, I don't know why Julie would have opened the stove either. Attention, Kmart shoppers, we have a blue light special on Idiot Plots in aisle seven!

On the bright side, the boiler explosion finally put an end to the torture tactic that was Camille Hawkins. I remember Megan McTavish's second run as HW starting out okay. It seemed like she was behaving herself for once, just concentrating on character and humor and romance. Then, next thing I knew, we were talking about psychic visions and rusty tattoo needles and I was like, "I was wonderin' when the old Megan McTavish was gonna show up!".
  12. Pardon me if I seem too philosophical, but I guess everything in this universe has to end eventually, including Twitter. But again, I ask, where do we go from here?
  13. DAYS was in ratings trouble in '79, and I guess TPTB thought burning the [!@#$%^&*] out of their lead heroine would bring viewers back. Maggie seriously thought moving Julie from the floor and into one of the kitchen chairs was a good idea?
  14. And then, of course, you have the Steam Pit.

Remember how Kristin Davis' character on MELROSE PLACE died? She was drunk, whining about how everyone had abandoned her and nobody loved her (which was true, I guess, although she really brought it on herself), when she accidentally slipped, hit her head on the side of the notorious pool and drowned. If you were an actress, and you were on an Aaron Spelling series BITD, and your character was slated to die, the chances were good that your character was not going to die with some dignity, lol.

I love the way Angela says, "Julia, get up!". It's like Angie isn't so much frightened for Julia (and herself) as she is annoyed with her for passing out. This, IMO, was DYNASTY's finest hour. It's the one time where everything - the writing, the acting, the music, the special effects - clicked.

The very first time I saw Blake attempt to strangle Alexis, I seriously believed he was going to suffer a heart attack or stroke and collapse on the stairs. "Whatever happens," I thought, "they're not actually gonna have him literally try to kill her. Because there's no way that's not gonna look foolish." I was so wrong.

You'd think a five-star resort like La Mirage would have a state-of-the-art sprinkler system -- or at the very least, curtains that weren't so damn flammable, lol.
  19. Let's just say Tik Tok is about to head into the stratosphere, lol.
  20. It's easy to forget that hayseeds like those have always represented the true, ignorant heart of America.

Why did Claudia just stand there and watch as the flames engulfed her and her room? Why didn't she at least attempt to flee and get help? See, that was one of my biggest issues with DYNASTY. Their characters always looked flawless, but they could do the most asinine things, lol.

Didn't one of Mark's druggie friends cause this explosion? I wonder why they kept my beloved Chateau for so long when it was clear they had no qualms about burning it down more than once, lol. Also, compare the two disasters and, boy, what a difference a few years makes. In the first fire/explosion, the cast is smaller and the special effects amount to what looks like waving some flames under the camera. (Obviously, I'm exaggerating, but you get my drift.) But, in the second explosion, the cast is HUGE; and so, too, are the pyrotechnics. As they'd say on the Farm Film Report, it blowed up real good, lol!
  23. That could work!
