  1. IA. Instead of saying, "Abortions for everyone!," we should have been saying, "Let's codify Roe v. Wade into law right away, just in case SCOTUS is feelin' cute one day and decides to overturn it!". The thing is, I, Khan, as the child of parents who were told (by two experts) that there was no way they would ever conceive together, do not believe in abortion. For any reason. I believe each and every child that is conceived in this twisted universe has a right to live. BUT... I also believe that the government should mind their own [!@#$%^&*] business as to what individuals do and do not do with their own bodies. If our government is so concerned for our welfare, why not see to it that children who ARE born don't spend their lives in poverty? Why not see to it that those who, at this very moment, are without jobs and proper shelter HAVE jobs and homes to go to? Or how about making sure that some yahoo with a "Falling Down" fantasy can't just go gun shopping the way you or I can make a quick trip to our local 7-Eleven for some Funyuns and a Cherry Slurpee?
  2. Oh, I know I will enjoy them, @carolineg. Even the worst stuff from that period is miles above today's best.
  3. Now I REALLY hate the Unabortion.
  4. It'll never happen, of course, but I still would pay good money to see Susan Sarandon say, "You know what, I really screwed the old pooch this time!".
  5. Thank you for tagging me as well, @victoria foxton. I'll get around to watching all these '66 episodes...someday.
  6. Well, it's a natural question, isn't it? Especially when the storyline in question involves one of your show's leading heroine attacking people in the middle of the night while zonked out on over-the-counter sleep medication. ("Where do you intend to go with this, Dena?")
  7. You know...as much as Whoopi Goldberg annoys me, I think she had the right idea long ago: let's take all the children who will now be born to mothers who, for one reason or another, can't raise them, and let's drop 'em off at the household of every person out there who is "pro-life" and let THEM raise 'em. Agree. Also agree. One more time: agree.

True. But, more importantly, SS has reached a point in her life and career where she doesn't have to prove herself at the box office anymore, or play the hot vixen if she doesn't want to. She can take roles in smaller, less glamorous projects - and even do commercials for ridiculously cheap eyeglasses! - and be okay. I'm not suggesting Madonna should start buying her wardrobe from the Melissa Reeves Collection, but it's not 1992 anymore, and she needs to accept that more gracefully. Whitney's attitude in that clip is exactly the attitude every parent should have: make sure your children know the difference between what's real and what isn't, because there's more important [!@#$%^&*] to worry about. I mean, my God, does the media really believe Madonna never even leaves the house without looking like a tramp!? It's not like you're gonna see her tomorrow at Jamba Juice, dressed as a dominatrix, spanking young men's bare bottoms, while waiting on her Matcha Green Tea Blast.
  9. They forgot to mention the time he gunned down a preschool in broad daylight while on his way to score meth from a syphilitic hooker.
  10. Exactly. Julie was the original heaving bosoms on daytime. Don't believe me? Look again at that TIME cover!
  11. It's like what Agnes Nixon told Michael Malone after he killed off OLTL's Megan: "And then what happens?".
  12. Amen. I feel like Doug Marland himself would ask whether ANOTHER young, good-looking male with no apparent purpose is needed. And this is the man, mind you, that lived for having beefy guys hanging around the Snyder farm all summer long wearing only jeans and doing no farm work whatsoever.
  13. My all-time favorite soap opera set has to be AMC's original Cortlandt Manor, designed, I think, by the show's longtime scenic designer, William Mickley. Favorite Set Designer/Decorator, though? For me, it's a toss-up between Lloyd R. Evans, Paul Hickey and Wesley Laws, who worked on several CBS and P&G soaps in the '60's, '70's and '80's; and Tom Trimble and Brock Broughton, who worked on both Y&R and DYNASTY.
  14. Even without the "Cosby Show" theme superimposed on it, that opening was one of the dumbest I'd ever seen.

First of all, I find it amusing that Madge took the time to write what was essentially a breakup letter to a guido who, from the looks of him, can't put two words together without breaking into a sweat. Here's the thing: there was a point when, yes, people thought Nippy was bland and mediocre (not to mention, rhythmless, lol). Whitney's first album was sensational - albeit, with some filler, I'll admit. Overall, though, the song and production choices were, IMO, soulful, yet able to appeal to a wide audience. Her second album, "Whitney," lifted her and her career even higher. By that point, however, Whitney was already becoming more of a product than an artist. No one questioned her vocal ability, but the songs on "Whitney" that weren't hits were garbage; and it seemed like the Arista people were turning her into a glory note factory, which, in turn, made Whitney the butt of many jokes. In fact, I think that's why Whitney waited four or so years before recording again. Musical trends and such needed to change, or else she was gonna go the way of Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. And while I wouldn't list "I'm Your Baby Tonight" among her greatest (or among the greatest albums of the early '90's, or among those of the "New Jack Swing" period), I do think that album, along with her Super Bowl performance, paved the way for "The Bodyguard," which helped her shed, once and for all, and for better and worse, the Clive Davis-imposed image of the goody-two-shoes belter with the kinky wigs, who just wanted to dance with somebody who loved her. Now, as for Sharon Stone.... Look, I don't think I'm ruffling anyone's feathers by saying that neither she nor Madonna has ever been what I would consider to be a master thespian. And yes, I think the case could be made that the two could have swapped roles - Sharon could've taken Madonna's role in "A League of Their Own," for example, and Madonna could've taken Sharon's in "Basic Instinct" - and it wouldn't have made any negative impact on those films whatsoever. Frankly, though, I don't buy Madonna's theory that her explicit sexuality or predilection for pushing all kinds of envelopes in her musical and dance performances has anything at all to do with her outsider status within the film community, or her film career basically being a non-starter. If anything, I think her outrageousness would have enhanced that aspect of her career. But the fact is, Sharon Stone became Sharon Stone by paying her damn dues, working for years on [!@#$%^&*] projects, with terrible scripts and even worse directors and co-stars, that used her body and nothing else; whereas Madonna, God bless her, expected to compete right away with the Meryl Streeps and the Susan Sarandons simply because "Desperately Seeking Susan" was an okay movie and every white teenage girl and gay boy in America was listening to her records and copying her bag lady-goes-clubbing fashions.
  16. Probably because she's already back.
  17. Wait, is he saying that DAYS would have to FIRE some of their cast in order to afford Steve Burton? Hmmm. Maybe bringing Stone Cold over to the mother show wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.
  18. And if she's gonna look like she's retired in Miami, then, I say, be a little more Blanche and little less Dorothy or Rose!
  19. DAYS is way past due for an introduction of new families to keep the show fresh and moving forward.
  20. This country is so sold on the pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps narrative, they forget that many don't even have the bootstraps.

Grace Slick was right: there comes a point when older artists just shouldn't try to compete anymore with the next generation. (Of course, Grace said it less delicately, lol.)
  22. If I had been in charge, I think I would have burned down Company (it was time) and had someone - perhaps Bridget and/or Nola - convert the lighthouse into an independent bookstore/cafe/performance space. They could have even CALLED it Lighthouse Books.
