Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Haha!!! Yes, poor thing gets the poops during trying times. I totally agree about your Ramona/Mario assessment. I think by then they were just playing the game for the sake of the cameras. The subtext and their facial expressions told another story versus what they were saying.

Ratings from the 80's
I'd sure like to see the numbers during the 3 weeks in the summer of 1984 that Guiding Light hit No. 1. Also, did DAYS ever hit #1 in the 80's, like during Patch & Kayla's wedding? And the week of Steve and Betsy's wedding on ATWT, which allegedly earned 20 million viewers. And did One Life to Live ever hit #1? Questions, questions

Dynasty Discussion Thread
Recently, I decided to start from scratch and begin at the very first episode and I'm going to continue on in order. Ive skipped around in the past but have yet to get to the end of season 5 (of course I've seen the actual Moldavian Massacre season finale and aftermath.) I can't believe I first purchased Season One in 2005 when it came out! They sure take their time with the releases. I think they just released season 8. I've watched Season One three or four times at this point. I really do love it. I absolutely love Pamela Sue Martin as the main vixen of the series. It's a shame they tame her down. And her 80's hair is not flattering. I love her hair in the first season. It's interesting watching Season Two now and seeing the slow transition from what they were in the 1st year to what they become by the 3rd season and beyond. I loved how the characters were so multi-dimensional. Steven was tormented and conflicted but never apologized for who he was and the feelings he had. Krystle was the middle-class outsider brought in to a world of opulence and extreme wealth. I loved how they played every beat of her uncertainly, in terms of how she should address the maids and cooks, what kinds of topics are discussed at dinner parties, what image they should maintain during hard financial times, and seeing just how ruthless Blake can actually be with business matters. Eventually as I get towards the second half of season two, I expect Krystle will be completely integrated into high society and will no longer flinch. And I'm already seeing Steven giving goofy looks to Amanda Woodward.

I'm glad we 100% agree on Jersey and the uninterest in fame whore Mel Gorga, but respectfully disagree on things Ramona-related.

LOL Those are great names. Trying to play catch-up on this thread. Yes, Ramona was wrong. She tried to apologize, but Kristen wasn't receptive. FYI, it was revealed on WWHL that the glass was plastic, not actual glass. Still, the act was inexcusable, but it does make it less dangerous. I think Ramona is like many other people, celebrity or "normal", who've had traumatic events happen that they've never gotten over. Look at Rosie O'Donnell. She lost her mother at age 11 and she still has mommy issues to this day. I do think her meltdown was genuine. I also think the whole Escape to the Hamptons was well known in advance. Wasn't she co-host of the event or something? Clearly, it wasn't a last-minute idea. I wouldn't be surprised if they all knew what was really going on, off-camera. Just like her onscreen excuse for not attending Heather's party earlier. She was very sorry and horrified at her own actions, as seen on WWHL, so I give her credit. She can own when she's wrong now, which is not something she's always done. And it's certainly not something that certain other "Bosses" of the Housewives franchises can attest to... NJ: This new Teresa girl must be spectacular for them to bring her on, when their leading lady has the same name! That's kinda crazy that her name is Teresa and she and her identical twin sister will also be on. Sounds confusing.

Ditto. Eddie would be my No. 1 choice from the OC. Love those chubby cheeks and ripped bod. Okay, moving on... I am *loving* Lizzie. She barked right back at loopy Vicki. Vicki was being rude (and drunk?) and Lizzie wasn't having any of it. The preview for the rest of the season looks GREAT! Can't wait to see Tamra taken down a peg, as well as Vicki. GREAT casting choices in Lizzie and Shannon!! I grew up with 2 trees, too. I grew up in the Chicago burbs. Can you imagine a table with OC's Vicki, NYC's Ramona, ATL's NeNe, and BH's Brandi? It would be a fight to the death in who can get in the last word! ATL: Good grief, now they're doing a Husbands of ATL special next week? They are really cranking out as much as possible out of Atlanta for ratings and to fill up time before Jersey. I don't think I'll bother watching, as the only one I can stand these days is Todd.

If NeNe leaves, Kandi deserves it, by popularity and tenure.

I think her time has come. However, if they brought Sheree back, I'd want to see one last go-around between her and NeNe.

Ratings from the 60's
Wow I thought EON was on 3:30 EST / 2:30 CT. 4:30 literally puts it on at the edge of night during the winter months.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
When I first start watching Housewives (in 2011), I thought those 2 were the weaker links. NYC had just had the toxic season 4 reunion and OC had uninteresting stuff in general. Now, they're the two I'm most pumped up about. (Plus, I caught up on NYC and LOVED seasons 1-3!) I do wonder what Atlanta is going to do next season, because it has gotten toxic and hateful, IMO. Even though the ratings are sky high, we've seen what kind of monster egos are born out of success, and with all the drama, fighting, and legal woes, I can only imagine what next season's cast will be. BH needs severe help and I'm still kinda Jerseyed out (although it'll be interesting to see what the reboot is all about).

I have a sneaking suspicion that DaytimeFan did not care for Beverly Hills this past season.

OC: I really like new girl Lizzie. She totally surprised me with her intellect. I was expecting a bubbly airhead, a la Alexis or Gretchen. I think she's going to fit in well. I am really liking this season so far, and I usually feel kinda blah about OC. ATL: one step forward, two steps back. Thanks for comparing gays and lesbians to the likes of hookers and drug dealers, Porsha. You can go now. NYC: what the heck? Aviva was taken out of the opening credits? We've seen multiple housewives completely missing from episodes (Taylor & Adrienne missed out on multiple BH episodes season 3) but they were never temporarily yanked from their opening. They could've at least put LuAnn back in there for the time being until Aviva reruns. The music was poorly edited after Sonja's tagline. Oh, Ramona. Naughty, naughty. You were supposed to be the voice of reason not committing acts of violence. Throwing a glass at someone's face is terrible. Can you imagine if a piece went in Kristen's eye? The thing is, her tactless measures when being invited on a [bravo-mandated] trip always make me giggle. Ordering an air conditioner had me cracking up! In all honesty, if I had the means to do so, I might do the same thing (although I'd ask the hostess first). I am very heat sensitive so I'd be going out of my mind in 100 degree heat too. I love when originals Ramona, Sonja and LuAnn are alone together. Even during the blondes vs. brunettes in season 4, LuAnn and Sonja never had issues with each other.

What a toxic relationship Phaedra & Apollo have. First of all, his professional demeanor was out the window on this reunion. The clothes, the body language, everything... trashy. Secondly, the openness about his love of going to strip joints and the money being spent there. Just weird. I could never tolerate that.

Yes, NeNe, you and Greg should go on a 50 state tour across the country doing a gay pride parade in each state (except Mississippi and Alabama cuz they don't like us or you) to promote your love of gays. Wow, they both looked terrible when NeNe half-assed a semi-apology (which would make it 1/4th). She really did herself no favors at this reunion. Season 7 will be a make it or break it year for her.

Agreed. She should be holding an apple. The fact that her and Jacques are no longer is besides the fact. Is this the first time a housewife is in the credits (OC's new girl) for a whole month before they actually make an appearance? They could've done an opening with 4 ladies like NJ's season two.

Don't forget Kandi! If Phaedra were to be cut (and I wouldn't mind if she was), I wonder who her closest buddy would become. Sheree never seemed close to anyone, except for that brief lovefest with Kim. 'Cuz Kim and Sheree look so alike, dontchaknow.

I am loving this new trend of bringing back former housewives. I think it's good to rest certain people for awhile and then bring them back. Just like soap opera characters. I have high hopes for Dina's return to Jersey, and I'm even looking forward to Kelly Bensimon's brief appearance on NYC this season (I wouldn't want her back as a regular though). Sheree back to ATL? That would ruffle NeNe's feathers and I would love to see it! Now all we need is for Jill Zarin to return to NYC for the ultimate resurgence (although Danielle to NJ would be pretty epic too!)

Wow, NYC was fun last night! I LOLed when Kristen totally checked Ramona. I can see it from both sides, but in the end, Kristen did shut her down. Oh well. Have a glass of Pinot! Sonja is a mess, cracking at the foundation just like her home, and I'm glad they're going to address that next week. Next week just looks messy good overall, with the ladies talking about Sonja and how Ramona is talking about her behind Sonja's back. Ramona and Sonja are so ridiculous when they're drunk. Ramona is just completely unfiltered and loud, while Sonja is messy and loud (and kinda sad). I was surprised Sonja threw in the "LuMan" dig after LuAnn left. "Bitch, you didn't show up to my party!" I LOVED the interaction between Heather and Ramona. There's something so hilarious about these two when they're arguing. It actually started off very well, with Heather making light of the situation and Ramona just matter-of-factly explaining her position. I think these two make great frenemies. Whoa, that was a switch, seeing Ramona and LuAnn on the same side regarding Sonja's many ventures that never result in anything. It's so true. How's that toaster oven coming along....?
