When that happened, I was like, "Alright.....it might have a great chance to win tonight." First foreign film to win at the SAGs! Amazing! So Best Picture is probably down to Parasite and 1917 (with its Producers Guild win). If one of those movies win the Directors Guild, I think it would be a safe bet that it'll win Best Picture. I think the Best Actor and Best Actress are safe bets too, but I'm still not sure about the Supporting Categories. If there is an upset I think it will happened in Supporting.

There are some articles on Billboard how Tik Tok is helping all these viral hits, but too bad the site is not free to read anymore. TikTok Fueled No. 1 Hits In 2019 -- But Is It Here To Stay? TikTok Is Rewriting How Hits Get Made What I'm wondering is, do those short clips on Tik Tok count as streams? They're like 15 second clips. I remember years ago, Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" went to #1 on the Hot 100 thanks to the Mannequin challenge.

Got all my "sure shots" and "good chance to get in" right except for 1! There were no surprises for Best Picture. I don't really have a rooting interest right now for Best Picture, but I think it could be cool to see a Korean movie win - imagine that huge upset! I definitely have to watch Parasite before the Oscars.

Thanks for clarifying things, @Faulkner I still think it's dumb how Billboard counts things now. LOL

What if I bought 5 songs one week and then 5 songs another week? That wouldn't count as 1 album unit because it wasn't bought in the same week?

https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/8546247/billboard-200-changes-youtube-video-data-streaming-album-charts Video data will also impact Billboard’s genre-specific album consumption charts, starting Jan. 3. Video and audio data from YouTube, along with visual plays from several music streaming services, will soon be factored into the Billboard 200 albums chart, it was announced on Friday. In addition to YouTube, officially licensed video content plays from Apple, Spotify, Tidal and Vevo will be included in the album chart's calculations. The inclusion of video data into the Billboard 200 arrives five years after audio streams were added, marking the chart's shift from a measure of pure sales to a consumption model. The addition of video will also impact Billboard's genre album consumption charts, such as Country, R&B/Hip-Hop, Latin and others. While YouTube streams have factored into the Billboard Hot 100 and other song-specific charts since February 2013, this marks a first for the album charts. In contrast with song charts, which can be impacted by user-generated videos, only official licensed video content uploaded by or on behalf of rights holders will be counted for the Billboard 200 and other albums charts. -------- I never understood/don't like the "streaming equivalent albums" or the "track equivalent albums", and now they're including youtube views. SEA means streaming equivalent albums. SEA is calculated by adding up all of the audio song streams from an album. Premium streaming totals are divided by 1,250 and free streaming totals are divided by 3,750. Thus, 1,250 premium streams or 3,750 free streams from the same album is equivalent to 1 album unit. TEA means track equivalent albums. TEA is calculated by adding up all of the song sales from an album and dividing by 10. Thus, 10 song downloads from the same album is equivalent to 1 album unit. Can someone explain this? Say an album has 15 songs, but I only download 10 songs, does that count as the 1 album unit? Or does it mean 10 different people downloading just the same one song will count as 1 album unit?

"I didn't know then that soon enough people would decide on something else I wasn't quite doing right, and then the circle would keep going on and on and rolling along......" I'm glad she mentioned that. I've been following her career closely for a very long time and there's so much truth to that. ------ "I'm fairly certain he knew exactly how I would feel about it though. And let me just say that the definition of the toxic male privilege in our industry is people saying, ‘But he's always been nice to me,’ when I'm raising valid concerns about artists and their rights to own their music. And of course he's nice to you. If you're in this room, you have something he needs." Yup. I hate it when people say that too when someone is trying to bring up an experience that they went through. I immediately thought of Demi Lovato's instagram post when people were talking about their experiences with Scooter: "I have dealt with bad people in this industry and Scooter is not one of them. He's a good man." --------- "The fact is that private equity is what enabled this man to think, according to his own social media post, that he could buy me. But I'm obviously not going willingly. Yet the most amazing thing was to discover that it would be the women in our industry who would have my back and show me the most vocal support at one of the most difficult times, and I will never, ever forget it. Like, ever." I've been waiting for her to finally bring this up! He is so *that type* of a guy. "This speech I'm referring to was on my 25th birthday. I'm about to turn 30 tonight, woo! But my exact quote during the speech was, ‘I really just feel like we need to continue to try to offer something to a younger generation of musicians, because somewhere right now your future Woman of the Year is probably sitting in a piano lesson or in a girls' choir "and today right now we need to take care of her.’ I've since learned that at that exact moment, an 11-year-old girl in California really was taking piano lessons and really was in a girls' choir. And this year she has been named Woman of the Year at the age of 17. Her name is Billie." Cool story. ------ "I've watched as one of my favorite artists of this decade, Lana Del Rey, was ruthly criticized…in her early career and then slowly but surely she turned into, in my opinion, the most influential artist in pop. Her vocal stylings, her lyrics, her aesthetics, they've been echoed and repurposed in every corner of music, and this year her incredible album is nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys because she just kept making art. And that example should inspire all of us, that the only way forward is forward motion. That we shouldn't let obstacles like criticism slow down the creative forces that drive us. And I see that fire in the newer faces in our music industry whose work I absolutely love. I see it in Lizzo, Rosalia, Tayla Parx, Hayley Kiyoko, King Princess, Camila Cabello, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, Princess Nokia, Nina Nesbitt, Sigrid, Normani, H.E.R., Maggie Rogers, Becky G, Dua Lipa, Ella Mai, Billie Eilish. And so many other amazing women who are making music right now." "When a spotlight shines on someone and they hold up a mirror and shine the light around the room, they deserve that spotlight." - random quote in a comments section. --------------------------- Billboard Woman of the Decade Taylor Swift: 'I Do Want My Music to Live On'

I’m not really a fan of Christmas music, but I liked this song (unlike Katy Perry’s new Christmas song). It’s about being with someone you love so much that it you feel nostalgic about great memories of your childhood. It’s a nice love song. The lyrics and the video fit well together.

I did early voting and it literally took me 5 minutes to walk into the building and walk out. And even if you do vote on voting day, you don't have to wait the entire day or 5-10 hours like I see on the American news. And what I love about the voting system in Canada is that it's paper ballot and all you have to do is mark an 'X' in the circle beside the candidate's name. Then you put your ballot in a box. Whenever I hear about ballot issues (hanging chads!, electronic machines not working, people having to drive, or being driving to, for hours to find a voting station), I just shake my head. The American elections (campaigns and voting methods) are so chaotic. I don't know, maybe it's easier because we only have 38 million people. As for Harris, I'd love to see her as VP or AG.

Why is that? It's so long! The primaries seems so stupid to me. LOL In this year's Canadian federal election, the campaign was 40 days!

Loved: - her statement with starting off with "The Man" and wearing a dress shirt with all her album titles on it, and then being joined by a group of young girls. Fantastic metaphor. - pointing to Selena Gomez "we were young when I first saw you" - the ballet dancers during Lover Love how she spends half the time complimenting Carole King. When I first saw "Dance Remix" I was like nooooooooo! I thought it was going to be some EDM remix. Then I realized the "first dance" part. LOL The addition of the string instruments (violin?) is so good! It makes the song even more of a wedding song.

Yeah, Shawn's part in the song is so bad. LOL. I've only listen to the song once and that is enough for me - Lover is my favourite song on the album. It's a song she wrote by herself.....it's her memories, it's her story. It's such a personal song that didn't need to be "remixed" with someone else singing on it. Ever since Taylor was cast in Cats, I've wondered what she would sound like singing those "musical" type songs. I really like the lyrics for Beautiful Ghosts and she sounds good, and I do like the song.....I just don't love it. I'm not really a fan of these type of musical-songs. I prefer pop-song-musicals like Grease, Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia.

I'm glad HOTD is the one we're going to see. Wasn't really interested in a show about Whitewalkers origins.

Another acoustic set: The Man (on guitar), Lover (on piano; at 6:15), Death By A Thousand Cuts (on guitar; at 13:09); All Too Well (on piano; at 20:00) Loved the guitar performances, especially DBATC. I just love the way she plays guitar so I'm glad that she's doing more of that in this era.

You should watch it and decide for yourself instead of reading what others are saying. I saw the movie and thought it wasn't as good as I hoped. Joaquin was phenomenal and I hope he wins the Oscar. These aren't story spoilers but I'll tag them anyway.....they're just general comments but I'll play it safe:

Yes Bianca! She did it! First Canadian (man or woman) to win a grand slam! What a huge year for Canadian sports - with the Raptors winning their first Championship. And first person born in the 2000's to win a grand slam. Bianca's game is so good, and so fun to watch. I love her violent forehand swing, and her crouching swing. That second set was so tense. She was so close to winning and then Serena started to come back and you're just like, "She's only 19......what if she can't handle this pressure?" But she prevailed and that's going to great for her experience, to go through a match like that where the crowd was rooting heavily for her opponent. #SheTheNorth #SheTheChamp

Bianca!! What a second set comeback - down 2 breaks and winning 5 straight games. And battling in the first set against all those break points. This is like a dream for her - playing in your first grand slam final against the greatest ever. Just one more, girl! #SheTheNorth

Cool theory about the video: https://www.buzzfeed.com/eleanorbate/taylor-swift-lover-music-video-theory Also when they're dancing in the "red room," Taylor's in a gold/yellow dress and the guy is wearing gold/yellow pants which represents: "I once believed love would be burning red but its golden” (from Daylight). LOVED that throwback reference!
