DAYS: January 2026 Discussion Thread
So, Marlena couldn't make it to her great-grandson's Christening at the hospital because she was on a day trip to Chicago, but now she's back at the hospital for a doctor's appointment? OK That was pretty bad. And I don't think a budget issue was the reason for that obvious continuity error. But I did enjoy her scenes with Sarah. They work really well together and I like the relationship that Days has established between them. We got a really good insight as to how Marlena was feeling after all the mistakes that she made with Brady and Rachel. I still say that her actions and her illness should have been tied more to her grief over John's death though. That was a missed opportunity. But I'm glad that she's ready to return to work at the hospital. And that they were able to discuss Sarah's growing relationship with Brady. Speaking of Brady, I enjoyed his showdown with Kristen as well... and that it looks like they're over for good. I'm glad that they're finally at a place where they can both admit how toxic they were. It shows growth, for both characters actually. Now, Kristen can just leave and go back to Aremid or something lol While I enjoyed seeing Julie actually working at the bookstore, I had mixed feelings about her scenes today. I like the discussion that she had about grief, but I kinda wished it had been with another character. I really have no opinion about the character of Foster, but I don't want him in a relationship with Julie. And not just because of her and Doug's iconic couple status. But I am looking forward to the first meeting of her Bereavement Book Club with Maggie and Marlena. And yeah, Leo just makes me sick. And no propaganda, or well written dramatic scenes are gonna make me like him. I did feel bad for Javi though, despite the acting and the crying. Maybe when he returns, he and Dimitri will develop feelings for each other lol and I'll say it again, (especially after his scenes today) Peter Porte deserves so much better than this. He's too talented and too charismatic for this nonsense, and also, to be trapped in a bubble with the two most unlikable characters on the show. I can't believe he's being wasted once again. He did look good though This really does remind me of Dex/Joss on GH. Dimitri is Dex: a character, played by a talented actor that deserves so much better than what he's getting, and also is trapped in a bubble with two extremely unlikable characters. And Leo is (and always has been) Joss: a selfish POS that's constantly propped as this good person when they're clearly not. And the writers just don't get it. I do think David Kreizman is a good scriptwriter, but I'm not too familiar with his HW work. I know when he was co-head writing ATWT, he was largely responsible for the character of Reid, and a lot of fans liked that character. @Soapsuds How was DK's work on ATWT?

GH: January 2026 Discussion Thread
Oh Michael. Hot, sexy Michael. This is what you and your douchebag father get for covering up and getting away with Jaggerโs murder ๐๐ I know GH wants us to forget that but the irony of Michael being all worried that he might get charged with a crime he didnโt commit, and lose his kids to Drew and Willow does feel a little karmic. Looking forward to his showdown with Chase tomorrow ๐ The ending cliffhanger was really good too

Yeahโฆ they put that Christening together in record time. Too bad Marlena couldnโt be there, but at least they gave us a reason though. There was a little too much Javi and Leo today. But I admit, I probably wouldโve loved their scenes if they had involved any character other than Leo. Iโll never understand why theyโre giving so much good storyline and good scenes to a character that has only like four fans. Thatโs the wrong choice. Even I liked Leo, it would still be the wrong choice. The time jump to the ceremony was a little clunky though. But I thought the ceremony was nice. Despite the acting, Javi was really sweet in those scenes too. And they used a real baby ๐๐ And yeah, I also donโt understand why they didnโt have Sophia actually slap Holly. There definitely should have been contact. That was another mistake in this storyline. But Iโm glad that Holly raged at her lol it was classic Holly. Classic Holly that could drive future storyline. And I like that she got to vent to Ari about it, who once again, spoke for all of us. Ari revealing to Holly that she might have seen Sophia in the square could lead to something interesting happening. I just hope Days takes the chance.

DAYS: Declined and Rejected | promo (week of January 19, 2026)
In the spoiler preview, Paula/Jeanne basically admitted that that's what they were doing until they got the news of the renewal, which was a big mistake, IMO.

And I canโt past what Leo did to her ๐๐ That storyline was just so sick and cruel, that I understand completely why sheโs still so angry.

ARTICLE: Carson Boatman Confirms โDays Of Our Livesโ Exit
As much as Iโd love to see Carson Boatman on another soap, heโs wayyyy too old to play Cam or Aiden. Even with the weird ages on soaps, both on and offscreen, I canโt buy one of Lizโs boys suddenly being older than Michael lol Maybe a brand new character would be better for him

Well, I guess now we know how Javi's gonna be written out. I do hope we see him again soon. There's still plenty of (non Leo) story that can be told for him, especially since it looks like Dimitri is gonna be sticking around. And despite his horrible taste, and Al Calderon's OK acting and lousy crying, he really started to grow on me lol I liked the relationships that he had with Rafe, Gabi, Ari, etc. His scenes with Gabi were really sweet. Speaking of Javi's horrible taste, Leo was just ridiculous today. Those scenes with Gwen were a waste of time, and completely FF material. He almost seemed Ron-like. And when he's like that, it's a wonder how anyone in Salem even likes him, let alone is in love with him. And also a wonder how any Days fan, or any person who works BTS at Days, can be a fan of that. He was such an annoying pain in the ass and he needed to get punched in the face today. I thought Rafe and Johnny were used well today though. As insufferable as Rafe is sometimes, I'll always enjoy his scenes with Johnny. At this point, he's basically the father figure that Johnny needs right now. I still think they're kinda missing the mark with Johnny though. He should be wanting to help Rafe put EJ away for good. Or even sabotaging Dimera Enterprises, as a way of finally ending that toxic Dimera legacy. The fallout from all of that could have been really good, especially if they're going to build a friendship between him and Theo. Their scene today was nice. And it would be a better way to cause conflict for him and Chanel, as opposed to Chanel being angry at him for being worried about her getting sick or dying lol And welcome back, Mark. I admit, I did laugh a little over the fact that Cat was able to play him so well. But just like a lot of Days right now, this all feels so low energy and it doesn't need to be. And yes, he does need to lose that Sarah Horton haircut ๐

#Gemma!!! ๐๐ I'm so glad that they finally got to make love for the first time. And that he was there to comfort her about Anna. This is how it's supposed to be when you have a couple that you want fans to ship and to root for. And Gemma is the best couple that GH has had since Sprina. It was perfect for the two of them. Nothing felt forced, no one was hurt or had their heart broken in the process, and there was no awful character being propped. Gio looked so hot too, and the fact that he's such a good BF and just such a good guy, in general, makes him even hotter ๐๐๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ Speaking of awful characters being propped, I was totally on Britt's side today. Those scenes were so biased in favor of Carly and Joss. But I'm glad that Britt and Jason eventually got to have their date without any interruptions. I don't think she and Jason have really set the world on fire though. They're no Gemma lol but I like them together. GH just needs to remember to write their scenes like they did in the New Years Eve episode. That works. Writing Britt like a nasty, campy clown does not. I also enjoyed Chase/Brook Lynn today. The anvils were dropping pretty hard today about Chase and the way he's been handling Willow's case lol and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. As for this new WSB guy, I still don't know about GH suddenly turning the WSB into this big evil organization when it's been the exact opposite for 45 years now. And while I agree that the momentum has dropped a little since last week and the beginning of this week, I still think GH is firing on all cylinders. I know we're only a few weeks into 2026 but GH, hands down, has been the best soap this year, so far anyway.

Yeah... let's hope that nobody falls for Rachel and Sophia's crap. I also thought it was a little strange that today was the start of a new day in Salem as opposed to being a continuation of yesterday's episode. I don't like the storyline but I would rather have seen Brady confronting his awful kid then hearing him talk about it with Marlena. And we really should have seen Sophia today. As much as I liked Marlena and Brady being at odds over everything that happened, I also liked that Brady finally feels comfortable enough to confide in her and ask for her advice. But I still think that the two of them being at odds would've worked better if it had been tied to John's death and their grief. Marlena reassuring Brady that he wouldn't be letting John down if he left Basic Black was really nice as well. I wonder where Brady's gonna end up working... or if he's ever gonna get his own place ๐๐ But I enjoyed Sarah and Xander's argument about Brady, and each other. Paul Telfer and Lindsey Godfrey work so well together, even when Xander and Sarah are fighting or are not together. They've come such a long way. Xander did bring up a lot of good points about Sarah today, points that could play into future storylines. I think what worked the most in their scenes today was that there didn't seem to be a good guy - bad guy dynamic in them. Both Xander and Sarah came off pretty much as equally flawed, instead of it being biased in favor of one of them, which works better sometimes, IMO. And I liked that Maggie also brought up the same points to Sarah, later on. And while I don't mind Sarah/Brady, I am looking forward to seeing how she and Xander find their way back to each other. And I did kinda feel bad for Jeremy though, both because he saw Alex and Stephanie's announcement and because he had to spend time with Brady's awful kid. Even if I liked the character of Rachel, I feel like those scenes wouldn't have worked. I'd rather he had another scene with Julie... or finally have been confronted by Stephanie, Alex, Steve, Jada, somebody. I get that they want him to be a red herring, but all of this feels so low energy.
