DAYS: Heartbreak Hotel | promo (week of May 11, 2026)
They dropped it too quickly. Days could've gotten years of storyline out of Johnny cutting off the Dimeras and trying to put an end to their legacy as a way of getting some kind of justice for Sami, Marlena, John, Roman, etc. And trying to run Dimera into ground could've made EJ finally return Johnny's anger, and also could have weaved in Theo and Chad and their drama, caused problems for him and Chanel. The possibilities would've been endless. I also would've Johnny's actions be further amplified as a result of John's death.

I went back and rewatched, and I think you’re right. When I first saw it, I thought Theo was reading Stefano’s own words

DAYS: May 2026 Discussion Thread
Welcome back, Tony and Anna! It's always good to see them, regardless of the circumstances. And despite the low energy of an episode lol. This whole 'Stefano's will' thing will always feel a little unnecessary, and definitely a few years too late, but I am somewhat interested in seeing if something good happens as a result of this. All this buildup better be worth it in a lot of ways, especially with Gabi's revelation, and Theo and Chad immediately taking her side against the family. As for Marlena's bequest... Idk Btw, I guess I can accept Stefano knowing about Stefan and Jake lol And as always, Leo was unnecessary. Even if I liked the character, he would've been unnecessary today. And Dimitri should definitely be the one going head to head with Cat about her being in the ISA. Regardless of Peter Porte, it just makes more sense for it to be Dimitri. And there are many more story opportunities if it were him doing it as well. But I have to admit, despite the low energy of the episode overall, and my dislike of the storyline, the cliffhanger with Lexie was really good. Hopefully, it isn't a fake out.

The fact that that abomination has pretty much been erased from existence, and the two clowns that are responsible for it are no longer at Days pleases me to no end 👍😂😂

Congratulations Grandpa Justin! I'm glad that we got to see Justin find out that he's a grandfather again, and that he and Alex got to have that conversation about fatherhood. It was nice seeing their relationship on display. Their trip down memory lane, and their talk about Adrienne and how Stephanie is basically now in the same position that she was all those years ago was really nice as well. Sonny is still Justin's favorite though 😂😂 I guess because of Wally's schedule, we can't see him as much on Days, but I do appreciate that they at least try to make it work when they can. But since Alex brought it up today, I do think that he and Justin should each have a bigger part in Kate and Xander's lawsuit. I feel like that could help both of their own storylines progress a little in some way. Speaking of Kate, I did like her and Roman going head to head again. Despite being in the wrong, she took no crap again. Both about the lawsuit and about Marlena lol I'm still not a fan of the idea of a Kate/Roman/Marlena triangle, but it's always good to see these characters be used effectively. Kate being so friendly with Joy was a bit of a surprise to me, but I'm really, really glad that there was pretty much no mention of how they know each other so well. I wouldn't mind this friendship possibly causing problems for Kate and Roman as well. I also enjoyed Gabi vs. Ari over Liam. Ari brought up a pretty good point today about Gabi's hypocrisy, and I'm interested in seeing this all play out. I think we just need to see Liam more. And for Ari to get closer with another guy (Theo) while Liam continues to reject her. Pacing has always been the biggest issue with this storyline But Chanel vs. Joy felt a little unnecessary though. Their exchange was something that could've happened off screen, IMO

Thanks for clearing it up 👍 I hope we see him again soon. There’s still a lot that they can do with him. And Mark too

There was a little too much Dimera today lol. But I'm glad that Roman and Marlena each got to see their grandson. I like that Marlena was there for Johnny and comforted him over everything going on with Chanel. They definitely need to interact more and have bigger parts in each other's storylines, especially after everything that happened with Kate and the plagiarism lawsuit. I'm also still liking the potential conflict between Kate and Roman, which I think has been built up pretty well so far. Kate lying to Roman again today, and Roman confessing to Johnny that he suspects that Kate is lying about setting him up are another example of that good buildup, IMO. I also enjoyed Chad and EJ going head to head. Conner is still playing Chad in a way that's similar to Billy Flynn, and I think it's working. I'm impressed by him so far. And I'm curious to see where Chad and EJ are gonna go from here, and if we're going to get a full on Chad/EJ feud. And Conner's Chad also got to have his first full on scenes with Cat today. I thought their scenes were nice, but at the same time, I didn't think that they set the world on fire either. Btw, Aaron moved away? Kristen and Sophia did nothing for me though, once again. I knew that their scenes were gonna be a dream. As for everything regarding Stefano's will, I just hope the payoff is worth all of this buildup. All this still feels a little unnecessary but it could lead to something good happening.

I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ron also had Sophia going psycho lol but I would’ve liked for her to remain sane, mostly so that Tate could have an alternative to Holly, and so we’d get a full on teen triangle/quad/mess. And Doug 3 and his drama should’ve been furthered tied to it as well. Rachel Boyd actually showed some life when she and Doug 3 had their encounter in the Square

Congratulations Alex... I think. Baby Kelsey's existence still feels a little unnecessary to me, but I'm interested in seeing what Stephanie's going to do now. She, and whatever actions she may take are the most interesting part of this storyline, for me. As hot as Alex looked today lol she needs another guy besides him, even if it ends being just temporary. Speaking of the best example of "another guy", it'll always be ridiculous that Jeremy was written out. I'm curious to see what Joy is going to do now that he's gone. But I liked that Julie comforted Stephanie over Jeremy, and everything that she's been going through lately. That was actually a nice surprise. I appreciated the fact that everything surrounding Sophia was still included today, but didn't dominate the episode. Tate, Holly and Ari absorbing the news about her was a good scene, even though Leo Howard's acting was a little.... ehhhh. He still has trouble with highly emotional scenes and drama. Ashley Puzemis did a really good job though. But I'm still not too sure about nuAri. I don't think she's a bad actress but... Idk. I also enjoyed Philip and Gabi. Despite John Paul's facial expressions, I thought he did a good job today too. And he also looked hot lol. Philip cautioning Gabi about interfering in Ari's life and her relationship with Liam could lead to something interesting happening. I hope she doesn't listen to him. Tying all these storylines together could be really good. And, Days actually remembered Tyler! I liked that they used that part of Philip's history in order for him and Gabi to further discuss how to be a parent. Maybe we'll finally be seeing him somewhere down the line. Btw, the lighting looked different in their scenes today It's starting to make me wonder what Ron's plan was for her, or if it were any different than this.

Yeah... I don't like Brennan all that much but I was kinda rooting for him today. I think the Valentin of it all was what annoyed me the most about his scenes today. I also think it's time for the creepy gay butler to be sent packing too. As for Michael James Scott, I liked his performance and think he has a good singing voice, but yeah... there's only one Genie. And there always will be just one.

Seems like it, for sure. Before she went psycho, I never felt there was any real motivation for her to do the things that she had done. All it would've taken was some better plotting. Leaving the baby at the firehouse was a good example. I didn't have a problem with Sophia doing that, but I felt there needed to be a better reason why she chose to do that. If anything, Sophia needed to be written like Jan was under Tom Langan: the scheming bitchy mean girl as opposed to the psycho that she became under James E. Reilly. That was sort of who Madelyn (Keintz?) played the role, and it worked a lot better than it is now. So many of us were rooting for Sophia back then.

Today was a slow one. But I did like the way that the news of Sophia trying to kill Johnny spread across Salem. Every character in today's episode was involved in the aftermath somehow and I like that. It makes Salem feel like a big community. I just think that the writers needed to add more to a lot of scenes today, in order to further grab people's attention. And it was nice to see Javi tell Leo off at the beginning, even though Al's acting was once again... 😂😂😂 He really didn't come off like a guy that had inhaled noxious gases lol maybe he could've used a little more direction. But I hope that Javi actually does have a bf in Texas, and that he isn't just making it up to get Leo off his back. There are many more story opportunities for Javi if the bf does turn out to be real, or if he finds another bf in Salem. Johnny and Chanel were sweet today and their little family bonding moment with Trey was nice. I still think that Chanel having cancer isn't the right storyline for them though. As for EJ/Kristen, and Rafe/Cat too for that matter, I probably would've liked all their scenes and their storylines a lot more if they had involved any characters other than them. The biggest problem is just them lol But I am somewhat interested in seeing what happens now for Kristen.

I'd say the first place was when Sophia, who wanted to be with Tate, was still determined to give up "his" baby for adoption, instead of using it to try to steal him away from Holly. Dropping the baby off at the firehouse, without a really good reason or motivation didn't help either. Making her full on psycho was the final nail in the coffin, IMO
