  1. It has taken 20 years to understand why AW was cancelled but I finally get it. The NUT Donna Was fighting to save AW. Mickey Dwyer Dobbin was given a choice - deal with Donna or cancel AW. I’d have made the same choice, Mickey.
  2. A book is just that. A book. One persons perceptions and recollections. People mentioned in the book will always have different recollections and dispute the book. Take it for what it is. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
  3. Marcia says that you need a time out on that AW bench!
  4. I’m in contact with Marcia and you are quite wrong, Donna.
  5. Donna - can you PLEASE stick to facts! Goutman & McCabe divorced in 2016 - LONG after ATWT went off the air. Stop spreading misinformation. God you’re annoying!!
  6. You guys are correct - the date that is handwritten is the issue date of Daytime TV. The magazine did not identify what weeks the ratings represented. We can surmise that the ratings are a few months behind the issue date.
  7. DonnaB, will you retire? One can only hope!
  8. With the July, 1982 edition of Daytime TV, they started publishing the ratings of all soaps, which reflects the move of Search to NBC and the debut of Capitol.
  9. I went down to my basement and picked out 3 tapes. A couple of them did not work, but the third vhs tape played. It was a partial January, 1987 episode of Y&R (with Brenda Dickson) along with some GL and ATWT episodes from that same time. There was a high pitched sound in the background and some fuzzyness in the quality of the picture but it is playable. If you want it, it’s yours. I don’t have any plans to convert and upload my tapes, so I might as well give them away to people who will use them. Feel free to message me.
  10. The only thing that I can think of as to why Y&R didn’t get alot of attention is because it wasn’t in the same timeslot as GH, so it was bigger news when the timeslot competitor GL beat GH. I have an audiotape of the ET story where they interview Gail Kobe but I’ve lost track of it. Its somewhere in this house. A bonus Holiday edition of Daytime TV, between their December 1981 and January 1982 editions.
  11. There is such a misconception regarding GL’s ratings in 1984. GL did NOT hit #1 in the summer of ‘84. Yes, GL beat GH in the ratings for 3 weeks in June of ‘84, (which was a huge accomplishment, even Entertainment Tonight covered the story) but Y&R was the number one rated soap during the three weeks that GL beat GH.
  12. I’ve got alot of ‘86 and beyond Y&R in my basement. Its on VHS and I don’t know if it will even play after 33 years.
