I'll just say it: Latinx was always stupid as hell, and apparently a lot of Latinos think so.

Whereas the kid playing Danny (whose name I refuse to learn how to spell) has had twice the time and is still grinning like he's doing TikTok dances.

Also: Kristina howling away at the top of her lungs in the hospital chapel was embarrassing, nasty work. It is mortifying how quickly they have tanked Kate Mansi, who was admirably carrying a lot of the show on her back in the spring-summer under Mulcahey IMO. The character has become utterly unrootable, is still calling her sister's child hers and shrieking through scenes. I think KM can recover but not with this kind of material.

I will give it to the kid playing Rocco: I thought he was mostly mid for awhile but he has brought it for this stuff and is quite good. The best since Hudson West. You could see Genie lighting up having someone young who's actually a talent to work with, even if their scenes were cut to ribbons so we could have more of the Scorpio geriatric reunion tour. Whereas I knew the kid playing Danny was green and weak awhile back, and he remains so. I know Steve had been working with him since he came back and Steve is seasoned enough to be able to teach him physical control; Danny had some emotion in the early scenes but kept grinning through them. Oof. (Also, did Jason really tell Sam's kids about their mother on the bench outside Bobbie's?) Not a tear shed with Carly either. He seemed weeks or months past it. Legit ridiculous that Lulu's kid is grieving harder than Sam's own children. But I rarely expect much from soap kids, especially ones FV hires bc they're cute and then refuses to let go of. It's just embarrassing given GH's history with hiring a lot of good kids in the past. They should level up Rocco in story now, but if I know this show he'll be in backburner city just like Jake. I am ready for Lulu to wake up - I want to see this poor kid happy.

Lucky's story may be spotty and messy but he feels a lot more organic to the canvas than either Sonny or Jason right now. As I said in the monthly thread, when all they've got for Sonny and Jason are tenuous connections to the bald dude, Eva LaRue's chest and Jason randomly getting involved in the Hunt for Sasher, it's over. Even Carly is struggling with her dayplayer man.

Some of us have the instant a certain someone got hired. And it's been commented on more than once, not just by me. If you don't see it feel free to keep it moving.

There's nothing wrong with talking about a white character. But openly hyperfocusing on the one main white guy in the cast on a Black-centric show would be what is inappropriate, racist and uncomfortable. Happy to help!

I've been meh on Holly for many, many years but if I wasn't before this mess will definitely do it. She's a complete buffoon and her daughter is still another useless character who has been on this show way too long, like most of the cast. The term 'veteran' no longer has meaning on GH when the bulk of the ensemble is just people Frank refuses to let go of. It is deranged that both Willow and Sasha (among others) have been on this show the better part of a decade. Even so, Sonny and Jason now feel more irrelevant than ever. When all you've got for them is Sonny with Eva LaRue's chest or somehow plugging him into the latest jewel-hoarding evil baldo plot with Carlo Rota, and Jason taking a week to get involved with Retiree Robert (please, it's time), Holly and Sasher you can tell they're at a total loss. It feels completely alien to those characters. Meanwhile Carly has her exciting new romance with Dayplayer B. Who cares? Carly is salvageable because you can plug her into various stories, but what are Sonny and Jason going to organically do on this canvas? People love to bang on about Lucky but JJ is out here selling and has a lot of ties. What are the Big Two doing? Why can't someone just give me 50K for being mad at them for no reason? Damn, Cody. Buys a lot of oats!

They did the same thing with Cody re: Mac and Dominique already. Both Dominique and Holly were onscreen the entire length of those tenures. Both women were never pregnant, and Dominique died onscreen. GH does not care and thinks everyone is stupid.

I am focusing on taking care of myself and the people I care about in the way I mentioned from the article on the last page or two - focus on the little things, the little issues, the local problems, the things or people you can help in day to day life. That's all I have energy for at this point in the face of both this national situation and my own health concerns. If that means at some point I leave outright for parts elsewhere so be it, but I'm not there yet. I'm just shrinking my world and concerns down to something manageable for now, and tending to that. I suspect a lot of people will. What comes after that on in the further future, we'll see. But I am done giving all my energy and mental headspace to a majority of the electorate that presently has no interest.

Tony Todd was an absolute legend. Candyman has never left my mind and his cameo/return in the (deeply underrated) revival film a few years ago was a big deal for me. His work in Trek is of course also great.

I don't agree. JJ gave it his all with the Aiden scenes, as he generally always does. It was the overaged twunk in the role I found distracting, though the kid is a decent actor. I fear FV and ABC will become even more conservative with this show going forward, though.

Losing a lot of those guys with FV's arrival did a terrible number on the look of GH since the '90s (Renfroe started in '01 I believe, but he kept up the house aesthetic that preceded him). I know the fog, docks, etc. had its detractors, but I think it held up for many years.

Newsom is an overly manicured California liberal who would fall prey to some of the same attacks as Harris. Insufficiently Midwestern masculine. Whitmer is a woman.

I may be wishcasting, but I know Mulcahey inherited the Jason return when he came in (having to rewrite the planned return storyline that the network apparently rejected from CVE/O'Connor), and I suspect he believed he could make it and possibly a higher production mandate for a renewed Jason/Carly romance work. (I think they were committed to that when Steve came back, until they realized it was again a dud and Korte shifted to this Brennan nonsense.) After all, PM had written some of Steve's most famous and popular material in the '90s with both Kimberly and Sarah Brown; I can see him figuring he could make it happen if that's what they asked for. You saw hints of this in a few good scenes with Steve and Laura - talking to her about his tattoo, moving in above Bobbie's again - but you can't create romantic heat where there isn't any. There was no core there for the writing to uplift. With Lucky's return the show feels possibly even more piecemeal storywise atm than before across the canvas. A sustained focus is what is necessary, but Frank doesn't do that.

I don't think it's that at all. They heavily promoted him. Frank is just nickel and diming on guarantees and playing his classic inconsistent character/story shuffle as usual to keep the budget low. That leaves Lucky and half the cast perpetually in and out of limbo in unacceptable ways.

IIRC Renfroe came over from the Guza GH crew with JFP. I may be wrong. The Guza production staff kept things atmospheric in those years even as the writing sank.

I hope you're wrong, but here we are. We got a long way to go. Now all that's left to do is survive and take care of each other in incremental ways, wherever we choose to live or stay. I am grateful for the community here, the ideals we can still value and the interests outside of politics we share. I think it will have to be them or someone like them. Newsom, Buttigieg and Whitmer are now all non-starters. I do wonder if Pritzker has any juice nationally. His strong statement the other day re: standing for his people got play.
