  1. I think a lot of it is recency bias for shows still on the air with stars that go back a long time. When Jeanne Cooper passed, CBS Sunday Morning did acknowledge it and saw fit to give her a segment. Yes, Y&R’s been the #1 rated soap for years and Jeanne was a big part of the success, but I don’t think that seemed to factor that much into it as much as she was on for years on an existing show for the network. https://youtu.be/LBjNbaU28ek
  2. I think AT just had a more likeable presence and better chemistry with her co-stars than NL did. But yes, Emily was always an insufferable brat.
  3. Oh god, even though Emily shouldn’t have been killed off, I still can’t stomach NL’s Emily in edits - acting and writing. That rape story was one of the most offensive ones I’ve ever seen, and I always hated how she always seemed to look down on the Q’s and what a Sonny/Jason apologist she spent her remaining time being. I lived for Tracy calling her Monica’s “ungrateful orphan daughter.”
  4. Still not quite sure why we’re supposed to care so much about Willow and whether she dies or not.
  5. Tracy adds so much to this show that I don't even care she's blackmailing her weak ass granddaughter. It's also great that there's no Luke for Tracy to orbit around either. Jane is just such a formidable presence that you can't ignore. Please GH, keep this woman happy until cancelation. Kthanxbye.
  6. In a perfect reality, Sarah would still be playing Carly. The Carly/Bobbie relationship is something that suffered with every Carly recast. Because Jackie's role was so diminished by the time SJB left in 2001, Bobbie and Carly just never felt the same again whenever they would share scenes. I don't care how long LW has played the part, there is just some things she can't offer up that's definitive to that character. It's evident that Sarah and Jackie put in the WORK in the 90's to make it all come together.
  7. There was so much more they could have done with Stefan and Bobbie. The relationships with Jerry and Roy were horrible and felt extremely generic. Wendy Riche tried to keep Bobbie as a vital part of the canvas, but it was obvious Guza had given up on her and TPTB at ABC didn't have much interest either (and this was long before JFP came in). In retrospect, I overlooked so much at the time because Sarah Joy Brown was just so f.ucking amazing and her performances were largely what kept my interest for much of that time.
  8. After the reveal, Carly and Bobbie’s reconciliation did feel very rushed and abrupt. Definitely think they could have stretched out that reconciliation a little more and made that relationship more complicated than it ended up being. Still, I did love those scenes where Carly first calls Bobbie “mom” - I think it may have been when Tony kidnapped Michael and Robin? There were also some great scenes between Bobbie and Tony I haven’t seen in a long time where she lays into him about suing her for custody of Lucas.
  9. The veteran cast, though often overlooked and disregarded by TPTB at GH always seemed so close. I know there’s been pics of various get togethers with them (featuring Jackie) over the years. Definitely keeping them in my thoughts today.
  10. SJB was by far her best acting partner on the show, dare I say. They were magic together.
  11. God knows I was guilty of making my fair share of comments and jokes about her appearance over the years, but I always thought she had wonderful and gentle presence that carried GH though some unusual times. She was always so proud of her association with the show and to be on soaps - that was always so lovely to see. 70 is way too young, and its sad knowing we'll never get a final moment with her as Bobbie when GH eventually goes go off the air. RIP to her and condolences to her loved ones.
  12. @Khan - Jane’s back on contract and out of retirement for now! In a world with no Bevelee McKinsey, Elizabeth Hubbard, and Jeanne Cooper, and with the likes of Susan Flannery and Robin Strasser in retirement, I am just glad we have one soap diva from the golden age to enjoy and look forward to.
  13. This show would be a hell of a lot more entertaining if they just let Jane Elliot take over and let Tracy kick ass and call everyone out on their crap. As I said before, GH feels elevated whenever she’s on.
  14. Let's not forget, she openly admitted to being fired by Brad Bell at B&B (I still wonder what led to that), and then her consulting return at Y&R with Sally SUCKman Morina was another cluster that was doomed to begin with. At this point, her fond memories of working on these shows are probably too far in the past and not enough to come out of retirement for.
  15. Bless Jane Elliott for instantly making this show feel elevated when she appears. Constance Towers at least looks as fabulous as ever.
  16. Can Willow just die? God awful character and the actress has the charisma of a piece of stale bread.
  17. Mr. Sheffield, I mean Victor, feels like he’s been given rejected Thanos dialogue from a first draft Avengers script.
  18. With the more time that passes, the more and more that Sheffer run feels alienating and perplexing. Even then, the show felt so foreign to itself for me. Why were so many people distracted by an increasingly dying soap press and irrelevant Daytime Emmy awards? I guess I can see it being appetizing to newer and casual viewers at the time, and maybe some loyal fans were excited to see things finally happening on the show after those very long/boring years in the mid/late 90’s (not to mention, Leah Laiman tanked the show pretty badly before she was fired), but upon revisiting some of it years later, so much of it hasn’t aged well (I think that’s true for so many things for that era actually, not just on soaps), and it just feels as empty and hollow as ever.
  19. LOL, I always thought Hunt Block looked like he had severe constipation in those scenes (or in any emotional scenes really...)
  20. Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but...
  21. The original and unedited ‘American Life’ music video has finally been uploaded to her official YouTube channel in time for the 20th anniversary of the album’s release.
  22. A lot of the character archetypes in Degrassi seem to have influenced Euphoria. Also, isn't Drake an EP on Euphoria? Not sure that amounts to much and if he has much input beyond the financials, but that's a clear link.
  23. Well, in doing more digging, she also seems to have aligned herself with a right-wing owned non-profit (Pipe Hitter Foundation) who claims their purpose is to defend rights of people in uniform. That could explain why she’s appeared in media outlets like Newsmax. Also, in looking at the “politicians” she follows on Instagram, it seems like they line up with her own political beliefs, but that’s neither here nor there I guess and doesn’t seem like she’s been very public with her support for the political ideology she may be supporting in her private life. Pipe Hitter Foundation posted this video from Martha today on Instagram and asked for $20K more of donations to help fight the case… https://www.instagram.com/tv/CrTP9C4opGl/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  24. Yep, I haven’t seen much detail about the case, but someone posted that article on Twitter today and I didn’t realize those charges are a few years old now, but the actual trial is happening soon it seems. I also didn’t realize Martha had been making the rounds on far-right trash media outlets in an attempt to clear her husband’s name either.
