  1. That's part of he reason I thank my lucky stars for Heather Rattray playing Lilly (and because I still hold she was a hell a lot of more tolerable than Byrne)!
  2. It seemed like neither Ed Trach or MADD gave AW the same attention they gave the P&G soaps on CBS. At then end, P&G seemed to give up on the show as well and they sure as hell stopped employing quality writing/producing talent there.
  3. I didn't feel AW ended on any type of creative high - Leah Laiman and Jean Passanante's writing was boring as sh!t. But AW was generally a very neglected show, by both NBC and P&G.
  4. Guza famously complained that Labine left "nothing" behind when he took over. He's kind of right, actually, the show was running out of fuel by the end of her tenure. But she gave him the canvas he would ape for years (namely Sonny, and Sonny and Brenda). And credit where it's due, Labine did bring this show into the 90's. It wasn't Monty's GH, but the show needed a big leap forward, and that's what Labine accomplished. It's a shame she was awful/boring as hell at OLTL and GL.
  5. Wasn't pairing Harley with a Jewish man one of the stories she wanted to tell that got killed?
  6. To be fair, ATWT was struggling after Marland's death, but Caso was doing the best he could and that era after Marland's death definitely isn't as bad as some make it out to be or what later came. JFP was fortunate to have great writers like Nancy Curlee, Stephen Demorest, Patrick Mulcahey, and Courtney Simon for the first half of her GL tenure. She never worked with a group of writers of that caliber again on any show she would later produce.
  7. JFP was sent to AW, John Valente was sent from AW to ATWT, and Laibson was hired at GL. Laurence Caso was fired at ATWT (shame, he was the probably the best of this bunch). None of them lasted very long, but in JFP's case, she was eager to leave P&G for ABC. With Valente, it was speculated that he hated ATWT and never wanted to leave AW.
  8. Roseanne's said in the past that Kathy Bowman was based on Marcy Carsey, lol.
  9. Roberta did appear on GL, but it wasn't to sing 'Hold On To Love' - she sang 'The First Time Ever I Saw You Face' at Hamp and Gilly's wedding in 1992.
  10. Rachel Miner was fired by Michael Laibson and he was also responsible for recasting with Rebecca Budig.
  11. It's so false and plot driven, but because Oates knows how to play the PR spin well, everyone thinks it's brilliant.
  12. Patrick Mulcahey has been posting a lot on Twitter about his two stints on GL. Some new stories about Marland and how much he loved worked Nancy Curlee and Stephen Demorest. Perhaps of interest to some like @Khan.
  13. Slightly dramatic as she was off the show for 16 years after a 4 year initial stint. But Tamzin filmed her last scenes today, so I’m assuming Mel exits sometime in November. https://mobile.twitter.com/mouthwaite/status/1170372429547474944
  14. Yes, Curlee left in the very early part of '94. I can't remember when exactly, but it was definitely between January-March on '94.
  15. Lucy Benjamin has slotted back in quite nicely as Lisa this week too. The writing for Bianca and Tiffany’s scenes felt off. It’s like they’re struggling to explain why Bianca’s been an absent/terrible mother.
  16. Granted, Mel’s return has been an overall flop and she’s leaving soon (and I was never a big fan anyway during her first stint). However, Tamzin is a damn good actress and was very good this week (especially today).
  17. Why did CBS dominate in the summer of '84 during such a hot time for ABD Daytime? Did ATWT feel any of that momentum as well?
  18. I didn't realize that the BBC had started doing promo materials again for the show. Here's one with Patsy Palmer and Maisie Smith. As for the show, it is HIGHLY plot driven. Though I can see why some see this as a step-up given the years of really poorly executed, regressive, and just boring material. The day to day writing is a bit better and there does seem to more momentum than usual again. There's also a bit more character interaction that we've not really seen much of - the story is trash, but who would have thought Steve McFadden and Jessie Wallace would be sharing so much screentime together? For years, it was said those two hated each other and the show went out of its way to make sure Phil and Kat only shared limited scenes. Oates and Sen are very much in Santer's vein though - they seem very good at publicity and sensationalist plots, but piss poor at character development. But none of this seems to be paying off in the ratings yet
  19. Yeah, I really wish she would stop with the dancing - she's not a theatrical performer and has no damn rhythm in her body. She's at home when she's in singer-songwriter mode and needs to stick to that more. She's not a conventional pop star and needs to embrace it.
  20. The fact that P&G likely knew about his behavior for years and never did anything about it until MANY years later is sad and sickening.
  21. I remember hearing Martha Byrne especially campaigned to get him fired after that "incident."
  22. Until the Patrick Swayze documentary that aired the other night, I didn't realize how much Claire Labine and Wendy Riche jacked/was influenced by the final scene in Ghost for Stone's death. Don't know how I missed that after all these years.
  23. Whoever thought Drew Barrymore has a digestible personality that could carry an hour-long talk show needs to be shot.
  24. For whatever reason, Tori and Jennie are under the impression that they were always meant to be comedic actresses when the fact is neither is much of an actress to begin with...
