^ Yes. Short of a miracle we will probably all have to shut down again in a couple of months. What a nightmare. Just thinking about the loss of life and the economic damage terrifies me. I'm not talking about stocks going down, I mean people's lives being further devastated by evictions and food insecurity. Please let them find a good therapeutic ASAP. 🙏

Maybe we can hope he's driving away independents. IDK, it astonishes me that there is anyone who doesn't know where they stand at this point, but supposedly they exist.

^ That is some serious B.S. I'm glad there are people standing up for their rights. Having to wait that long would piss me off now, but I can't imagine doing it back when I had a job where I was on my feet all day. Hell no. These voter suppression tactics have got to be addressed. I support voting by mail 100%.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
Late fall is going to be such a bitch this year. I can only imagine what cold/flu/covid season is going to be like for medical professionals. Really, its likely to be awful for all of us, but I feel especially bad for them.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
That makes sense I guess. I just can't imagine making a fool of myself like that for money.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
I have had this perverse need to spend just 5 mins in KM's head ever since she was on CNN. I need to know how she thinks. She went to Harvard Law School! You have to be able to do a certain amount of logical reasoning to accomplish that. You just do. So how does she say all of these things that don't make any sense? She does it with such conviction and confidence too. It amazes me. Is it that she hates black people that much? Is it that she knows it's all horses*it, but she'll say anything to promote her ideology?- The Black Lives Matter Thread
Good answer on the part of Biden, thank god.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
I agree with the people who say "defund the police" is a bad slogan. The word "defund" has a meaning. If you have to explain what your slogan means because it doesn't actually mean what it says, that's a problem. It's like some people just want to hand Trump chum for his base. It reminds me a little of when Hillary used the term "basket of deplorables" and the nuance of what she said was completely lost. Just that phrase remained and was used to say she meant every person voting for Trump was deplorable. It's not exactly the same, but the result will be the same. I can only imagine the ads accusing the radical left of wanting to "defund" the police and how we want chaos and anarchy in the streets.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
^ I'm torn between being terrified of the Covid spread these events will likely cause and happy that BLM has become such a huge movement. If only it had happened a year earlier.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
^ That's crazy. Poor guy looks like a rag doll. Don Lemon just looks and sounds like he has had enough. There is such a leadership vacuum in this country right now. The lies and corruption are out there for all to see. It just astounds me how shameless some of these people are. At least a dozen officers walked right by without offering aid!- The Black Lives Matter Thread
You want us to wake you up during Ivanka's presidency? That's what we are headed for if we can't get rid of Trump this next time. More seriously, I think one of the reasons some of us are more pessimistic than the numbers dictate is that we can't be sure it's going to be a fair election. Happily Trump has really f*cked up over the last week. In any case it's going to be a long summer.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
^ At first the killer was only identified as "a downtown bar owner". I said to my husband "I bet it's the guy who owns The Hive" and it was. He's a notorious racist and trans hater in Omaha. No way that's a coincidence. I fully believe he had every intention of shooting a black person and of using the protests and unrest as a cover.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
This is the young man who was shot in Omaha last night. Only 22. No charges filed against the killer. The police are expecting a riot tonight.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
Here's a scene from Omaha. Meanwhile a white business owner shot a black man. I don't understand shooting people over property ever. Less so when you know damn well insurance will cover it. We are also under an 8 pm curfew for 3 days.- The Politics Thread
Back when that assassination happened in Iran and he didn't escalate after they took revenge, I thought maybe we would escape without a lot of American deaths at his hands. Silly me!!- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
Thanks Carl. It's an awkward situation and some people are just straight up in denial. Most of us can't entirely stay in for six months at a time, but when people are crowding into restaurants and other enclosed spaces, I just don't get it. It's really disturbing to see how partisan it is too. In other bad news one in 10 diabetics die within a week of getting this. Ugh, I know a lot of people with diabetes. It really is a bitch of a disease. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/29/health/diabetes-study-covid-19-deaths/index.html- The Black Lives Matter Thread
^ And where is the leadership on dealing with the actual problem at hand in Minnesota? Black people are being murdered by the police and his priority is looting, instead of addressing the underlying issue. Sure, he can't control the police, that's a city and state issue, but POTUS could be a moral leader. I mean, not this POTUS obviously, but someone actually fit for the position. I should be used to the naked injustice coming from the very top of our government, but there are some days I'm still astounded that he is this bad and so many people are just going along with it.- The Black Lives Matter Thread
I'm so tired of having an awful leader. It's exhausting.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
It's sad to me that this has become some strange partisan squabble. We're something like 11 weeks in now. How many people can truly say they haven't taken any risks at all? I could say that for the first two months. Then I took my son to a friend's for a play date. Then my neighbor starting putting his son over the fence in the backyard to play with my son (without invitation). I looked outside to see them sharing a water bottle!! It wasn't long before I realized that many of us are now lying to ourselves about how careful we're being. We are making small exceptions and thinking that counts as being careful, but all those small risks compound, which is obviously how infectious disease works.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
I have no patience with these people at all. As if we all want to make our lives so much harder in a questionable attempt to get rid of Trump. The economic damage being done right now is catastrophic. The full force of it hasn't hit these idiots yet. Of course this will be another case where a democrat has to try to fix a destroyed economy. It's going to be even harder this time with Mitch McConnel at the helm trying to make sure the rabble don't get a single extra crumb, while his cronies are still making money hand over fist. It's disgusting to watch unfold.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
He is truly one of the most inarticulate people I have ever heard speak. - The Politics Thread
